"Why do you look so scared, Axton?" She reached for his forehead with her open palm, and that was when he jolted back to reality. He immediately pushed himself off her, then hit the carriage twice, signaling for them to stop.
"I will take a walk outside." He said and went out of the carriage as if some monster was following him.
Natalia sat up slowly, still trying to process what had just happened. He had kissed her. Or maybe she had started it, but he kissed her back. Was he too busy to even look at her? Did he not like it?
She peered out of the window next to where he had sat. He wasn't anywhere within her sight she sat back down, her hands clasped together. Could it be that he didn't enjoy kissing her?
Alpha Axton shifted as soon as his feet touched the ground and ran off into the bushes. He felt like something major was happening to him, and he hated every bit of how she made his feel. He had to push her away. He wouldn't allow her kindle such emotions in him. Not in a million years.
Natalia leaned back, her mind distant. Their kiss had been slow burn and passionate, and she found herself needing more of it. But it would still be fine with her if he just sat next to her.
She laid down, closing her eyes. He had looked so perfect leaning towards her, and then terrified as he leaned away. It made her want to leave the carriage too.
"Excuse me," Natalia said, peeking out of the window. "Is Axton out there?"
The guards hesitated, then answered. "We believe he went for a short walk."
"Then please let me out. I would like to walk too." She said, then got ready to stop.
There was no answer, and the carriage did not stop either.
"Excuse me, please let me out."
"We are sorry, miss. But we can not let you out right now."
She sat back down, disappointed. She had wanted to go along with Axton and maybe talk to him about what had happened. About what they could be. There was something more to them now more than that pull they could not say, right?
She leaned back and let her mind roam, before sleep finally took her.
"Alpha." One of the guards said immediately Axton changed. They were nearing the pack now, and he has to arrive like the Alpha king he was.
"What?"
"Miss asked to come down for a walk." The guard was trembling lightly.
"And you told her...?"
"We told her it was dangerous." He answered.
"You can leave." He finished dressing up and then turned around to the carriage.
"Natalia?" He opened it up, but she was asleep, her head almost coming in contact with the carriage seat.
"Stop the carriage."
The carriage stopped and they lowered it, and he went in.
She was sleeping peacefully, a few strands of her hair covering her face. The only problem he had was that he couldn't see her eyes.
"Natalia?"
She moved a little. And her head fell on his lap. She adjusted her body so she would be more comfortable.
"Na..." He stopped. He shouldn't wake her. He adjusted so her head was better situated on his lap. "Let's go."
He knew it would be fleeting. This softness he was showing her now that she couldn't see, he was going to make sure she didn't see it. Ever.
It didn't take too long for them to arrive at the pack.
"We are here, alpha."
"At my palace?" He turned to take a peek.
"We thought you would like to..."
"Are you to tell me what to do?" He was careful not to raise his voice too much, so Natalia would not wake up.
"No, alpha. We will take you to the palace."
"Do not." He said simply. "I will take her to the palace myself. They need to know I am back anyway."
The carriage was lowered, and Alpha Axton pulled Natalia gently, then carried her bridal style in his arms. She fell delicately on him, her hair falling on his royal blood red coat. Her blonde hair contrasted sharply with it, making it seem very beautiful.
He had never thought he would be here with her. Someone as soft, naive and delicate. Maybe her naivety was her charm. Who else would dare kiss him or even talk back? Maybe just her. And maybe that's why she is the only on who ended up in his arms.
He took a step forward, then another, as the guards assembled behind him.
The first eight behind him shifted painfully, then joined in the walk as they started to howl.
Nobody needed a soothsayer. Alpha Axton was back to reclaim his throne. To become dominant in his pack like he had been before the curse.
Everyone stood at fearful alert, a few trembling as he walked past them.
The omega boy who had led the mob that had injured him stood there, seething with anger, yet knowing he could do nothing. He had found Alpha Axton weak then, but now, he wasn't. He could lose his kids just like he had made his father back then, and he didn't want to risk it.
"I remember you." Alpha Axton said with a small laugh. He came to stand in front of the boy, his smile smug.
"Alpha."
"Oh. You can address me as the man who killed your father. Its appropriate."
The boy swallowed, then looked down at the woman.
"I apologize."
"Beautiful, is she not? " Axton said with a small laugh. He didn't miss the boy's small hand movement.
"Yes, Alpha."
"I came back in good spirits, so I intend to let you go. But...be very careful."
Before Alpha Axton could finish, the boy had swung his dagger right into Natalia's closed eye.
Alpha Axton gave a small laugh as his own blood dripped instead, his hand stopping the blade as he lodged it between the blade and Natalia's eye.
