Chapter 5 - Learn to love this life

TRISTAN

I suddenly came to a stop with my mouth flung open. You might be wondering the reason for my reaction and that's simply because of the sight I saw in front of me. The restroom is completely surrounded with guards holding different types of guns and other deadly tools like they were going to fight a global war. At that point my brain suddenly stopped working cause I'm damn shocked.

I can't possibly fight them off, they are too many and holding dangerous weapons and I have none except_

"Hold on a minute."

I reached for my small bag that I love taking along with me wherever I go and brought out a sleeping gas.

"Yes. This should do the trick," I thought with a smirk.

Backing the bag back I inhaled and exhaled sharply before walking towards the guys after covering my nose tightly with a handkerchief so the gas wouldn't affect me.

"Who are you and what do you want? "The first big guy asked with a mean face.

"I'm here to give you rest." I said and they all exchanged a puzzled look.

"You better get out of here you little.. "The guy was still speaking when I sprayed the gas on them unawares then they suddenly started coughing before they fell on the floor like chopped trees.

Walking past them I opened the door of the rest room to see the target staggering probably trying to fight the drug in his system.

"Who.. Are.. You?" He asked, stammering with his eyes almost closing up.

"Don't worry boss, let me help you with this so you can rest," I said lightly as I bent towards him.

I tried collecting the bag from him but he held it tightly to himself.

"What sort of rest are you trying to give me?"He asked, forcing himself to talk.

"You would be restless as long as you have this with you, so let me ease your restlessness," I said, forcing the bag out of his hand.

"Give it.. Back.. You fool,!" He struggled to speak but I could sense his anger as he tried to get up and I just smiled at him.

"Maybe next time man, I have got to go now," I said walking out with the bag.

I quickly emptied the contents of his bag into mine and dropped the bag by his side then walked out of the restroom heading back to the club.

"I have the goods, you guys should retreat," I said into my chip.

"Alright, meet us outside." The guys said but I received no response from Mia and Tanya.

"Tanya, are you there?" I asked worried as I tried not to think of the worst.

"Tanya, answer me if you are okay, you are getting me worried." I said worriedly.

"We are fine, we are just experiencing a little problem, these fools said we have to wait till their boss get back," She replied, making me calm down a bit.

"Alright, I will be out soon, just make sure you tell Mia to be prepared."

"Okay, we are expecting you," she replied in a whisper.

I walked to a wall close to where Tanya and Mia were, Mia was looking around in an uncomfortable manner and if she continued that way the men might get suspicious.

"You two should cover your nose and get ready to run," I said.

"We are so ready, just waiting for your call." Tanya responded enthusiastically as she picked up her bag and held Mia's hand where they sat.

"We've got a problem, the boss is down," I said to the guards panting heavily like someone who had been running.

They all stood up in confusion and ran into the toilet to check on their boss.

"Take this Mia and run outside, Edwardo is waiting for you," I said, handing the bag over to Mia.

She took it from me hurriedly before running out of the club leaving Tanya and I.

"Mia is on her way. Direct her to Edwardo's vehicle," I said to the driver through the chip.

"Now, are you ready, Miss?" I turned to Tanya with a smirk.

"I'm always ready. Let's move," she whispered back to me...

"Everybody down, there is an intruder!" I yelled and the few people around us ran to all directions in fear, confusing the two men who stood back to watch us.

We ran out with some other people who heard the false news.

"That was awesome," Tanya said to me in a laugh as we walked into the van.

"And fast," the driver added igniting the engine as we drove into the dark and silent Street.

"This calls for celebration cause it's a success."The others chorused, making everyone laugh.

TANYA

I sighed heavily as I walked into my room after bidding Tristan good night. I was extremely tired though I didn't do a lot of work but all I wanted to do at that moment was to sleep like a log of wood.

"You are back sis," Mia said, sitting up on her bed, I was startled a bit because I didn't know she was back.

"When did you get back?" I asked her sitting on my own bed.

"Few minutes ago," She replied softly.

"Are you okay, you sound like someone who is thinking about something. "I said observing her.

"his lifestyle.. Don't you think it is wrong? I mean stealing other people's stuff is illegal."She said making me chuckle a bit.

"It is wrong but it's our passion, our survival, you see. Most of us here do this to survive, you might be wondering how and why." I said and she nodded.

"I was brought here when I was just 3 years old. A little kid who knows nothing, I was starved, very starved though there was food. At first Tristan did bring food for me but at a time he stopped because he was caught and then I saw how he got his food, he steals cause he is hungry, we can't survive without food or can you? Of course not, this is our survival. In life you will get to a stage where you will have no choice but to do something you don't want to live. Life pushes us like that," I explained while she kept quiet listening to me.

"Embrace the reality Mia, and this is it. The earlier you get used to it, the better for you," I ended.

"I'm sure my parents are coming for me and I will stop all this soon," she said confidently and I smiled.

"I also thought mine would come for me too but later I thanked goodness that they didn't cause it if they did... " I trailed closing my eyes as tears streamed out of it.

"What is gonna happen if they do come?" She asked curiously.

"Edwardo would kill such a person and his family, he wouldn't let a tiny teenager expose him and I'm sure the situation also turned him the way he is," I said and she flinched in fright.

"That's cruel," she said covering her body with the sheet.

"Life itself is cruel, embrace this life as soon as you can," I advised and I could see her battling with her own thoughts.

"Good night, angel. Sleep well," I said laying on the bed to sleep and I heard her sniffing softly.

I know she is hurt by my words but I have said nothing but the truth and very soon she will realize this truth herself.
