Chereads / The Voices in his Emotions / Chapter 3 - It's not that bad

Chapter 3 - It's not that bad

'It might rain today,' Ronan thought as he listened to the teacher's lesson in boredom, another day in school with one being an empty container with no content.

"Both the flesh and spirit are unwilling," Ronan muttered in annoyance, he still remembered falling asleep whilst watching the first season of Tokyo Ghoul. He was so hyped to finally watch the last episode that was so talked about when he was 'KOed' by sleep and ended up not watching it.

*** Basically it's a play with the proverb- the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, meaning one might have the will to do something but no strength to do it. Here Ronan is saying that he hasn't both the will and strength.

Now he was in school on the brink of madness from the curiosity as to what had finally happened.

'Life sucks' He thought, his eyes drifting towards the window just to catch sight of a familiar red-haired boy diligently listening without any distraction.

'Alistair?!' He wondered in shock as he hastily tapped John who was busy sneakily playing with his phone.

"What?" John asked in annoyance kinda pissing Ronan off.

"Shut it, either way, did you know that the sophomores were right beside us? Just looking from the window you can see them!" Ronan exclaimed in shock.

"You just noticed dude? Are you even in school? Of course, they're beside us! They've been since how many weeks we moved to a new class," John said with a blank face.

"Oh, ok now, shut up," Ronan said as he faced the teacher yet again with a blush.

John was right about him, he was the kind of guy whose presence was in school yet his mind wasn't. This was why although he was friendly with his classmates, he didn't have many friends.

"Today is really pissing me off…" Ronan muttered as he slumped on his desk role-playing with his pen and pencil.

BRINMG!!!!

The bell finally went off, signifying the end of school and soon the heavy throttling of footsteps like cows running away from danger as the herdsmen tried their best to control them was heard as the students who seemed to be running away from hell rushed out of school.

Suddenly though, most of them stopped as they stood in front of the school entrance cursing out while looking towards the sky-

"Shit! No one said it'll rain today!" a female student with a particularly loud voice exclaimed in anger, she was probably among the newly transferred students. The clouds had blackened and were roaring angrily with the threat of a heavy downpour.

Although it was just dripping, the threat of it turning into something else was quite heavy.

"Ack! This is so annoying, guess I'll have to call home," Another complained at the same time walking into school.

Complaints, curses, and grunts of annoyance were heard as many students who had walked right outside went back in while some brave ones decided to rush towards the dripping either to brace the rain and run home or they had someone to pick them up, the remaining souls who were ones who seemed to be always prepared popped up their umbrellas and walked home leisurely.

Ronan sighed in annoyance as he screamed a million and one times in his head. Just his luck, first he goes to school with a heavy curiosity weighing down his mind, then on his way home, the rain just had to greet him! He wasn't even with his umbrella!

'And I still have to go grocery shopping since there's nothing at home, do I have to eat out? First thing first I have to somehow leave in this rain! It's only dripping, so I just have to be brave!' Ronan thought firmly before planting his bag on his head and running off.

"Ronan!! Ronan!!" a voice called out but he just couldn't stop with how fast he was running.

"Ah damn, I was gonna invite him for a ride and he's already gone far in the opposite route," John muttered to himself as he scratched his head.

"He'll probably be fine, this rain doesn't look THAT serious," Fred said with a shrug before they left.

And they were SO wrong.

"Brr…!" Ronan shivered while finally thanking the heavens that he had found a stand to save his ass.

'*Sigh*, if only someone was at home to go grocery shopping and cook for me, then I wouldn't have to worry about what to eat…. living alone sucks'

Ronan sat down, snuggling into his wet bag, trying to preserve as much heat as needed but it was useless due to the freezing cold attacking him from outside.

'At this rate, I'll get a cold and won't get home in time, it might get dangerous at night as this place is deserted… what do I do?' Ronan thought direly as he cupped his legs to his knees.

His hair was a wet mess all over him and his clothes were completely soaked showing slightly his fair skin. He flushed red from the cold and severe anxiety towards his books, hopefully, they hadn't been soaked.

Finally, as if heaven heard his cry, an angel was sent towards him…

"Hey, are you okay?" Alistair called unto Ronan who looked up to find himself completely 'wowed'. It was as if Alistair had a gift of getting better-looking when looked at from different angles.

With gorgeous red hair shadowing a darker crimson bleed, beautiful blue orbs deeper than the sky, with a sparkle more beautiful than a rose's, and a shimmering prettier than a sapphire's.

It was the second time Ronan had fallen in love with the beauty of a person's eyes though not actually since the first time was a fictional character in anime. But even that couldn't compare to the loveliness of Alistair's eyes.

'Ugh, now am simping over a guy's eyes, just how low can I fall? Today really sucks,' Ronan muttered in annoyance.

"You're not coming?" Alistair suddenly asked with a chuckle, he had been still all this while listening to all the compliments Ronan had been showering his eyes, he seemed to really have a thing for them.

It wasn't the first time someone complimented his eyes, people always said to him that his eyes were special in a way that other blues couldn't compare. It usually went with them saying, there are blue eyes, there are bluer eyes, there are bluest eyes and then, there's yours.

But even with all that, this was the first time someone had so vividly complimented his eyes as if declaring his love.

"You really should be a poet, come on let's go," Alistair called out to him again.

"Why should I follow you?" Ronan asked with a frown

'And what do you mean that I'd be a good poet,' He wondered.

"I think we live in the same direction, so why not follow me rather than wait for the rain? As you can see, it's pouring rather heavily, and from the looks of it, it'll continue even till night," Alistair said which made a lot of sense to Ronan, he was obviously in a disadvantageous situation, and so he might as well follow him than wait for the rain to stop.

"Fine," Ronan answered with a sigh as he got up to leave with him, wriggling into the umbrella to fully contain himself.

"By the way, I haven't fully introduced myself, have I? I am called Alistair Terrance, and you?" Alistair asked politely.

"I'm Ronan," Ronan said briefly with a huff.

"Nice to meet you," Alistair said with a smile while facing him.

"Hm," Ronan hummed with a small blush, just like always Alistair's smile was very beautiful but there was something he had always wondered ever since he met this guy, Alistair-

'Why is he so kind?'

From the day he had blurted out that weird thing to him in school up to this moment, although he did slip up with the kiss he had apologized severely which showed his genuineness, all through this time he was quite compassionate.

But it wasn't bad, the fact that there was at least one senior that was this kind made him a bit happy, he didn't know why but he just liked it.

'I guess I'll stick with him for now, hm.'

However, he didn't notice that while he was having such bubbly thoughts, Alistair looked towards him with a smile.

What a cute little guy.
