Chapter 4 - Feelings that tell tales

"We're here," Alistair said as he folded the wet umbrella whilst Ronan let himself in, he was so cold that he felt like his body was turning to ice from within.

'Pardon my intrusion,' he thought as he breezed in boldly.

"Why not take a hot shower while I prepare tea for both of us, I feel quite cold too. You can use any bathroom of your choice," Alistair said as he motioned upstairs.

"Thank you so much!" Ronan said while dashing upwards, it really was good luck for him to meet such a nice guy.

"I'll get towels and a change of clothes for you then!" Alistair shouted to him.

"Thanks a bunch!" Ronan replied from upstairs.

"Ah~" Ronan purred in satisfaction as he placed down the cup of tea, he was bunched up with both layers of clothing and mittens making him look like a little kid on a trip with his mum during Christmas.

"You like that?" Alistair said from the kitchen counter, he wore an apron and was making lunch for both of them.

'At this rate am just a shameless freeloader, how shameless can I get? Now am even eating at his place! The rain isn't stopping either so I can make a quick escape...' Ronan wept sadly in his mind as he drank his tea sorely.

The truth was, he actually was enjoying himself and wanted nothing better than to have the free lunch he was being offered and sleep off till whenever he got his strength.

'But I can't be that shameless,' Ronan thought.

"If you're feeling guilty then you don't have to, you can see this as an apology for what I did to you before," Alistair said with a soft tone.

"What?" Ronan asked confusedly, was there something he was missing…?

"For kissing you," Alistair paused as he turned towards Ronan.

It took Ronan nine seconds for his brain to process this before he flushed up completely, Alistair noticed how he had turned into a cherry making him smile secretly before putting back on his innocent façade.

"T-that! That topic should be closed! Don't just randomly say you kissed a guy y-you…!" Ronan was so flustered that he nearly spilled the tea that was on his hand causing Alistair to dash toward him in a panic.

"Are you okay?!" Alistair asked worriedly.

"Yeah…. anyways! Don't joke like that next time okay?!" Ronan berated as he cozied back into the chair whilst sipping his tea.

"Hmmm," Alistair hummed as he leaned into Ronan as if to check something turning Ronan into a flustered mess again.

"Wha-at?!" Ronan screeched intensely, Alistair was leaning so closely that he could even count the number of eyelashes he had if he wanted.

"Nothing, I just wanted to make sure you're really okay. By the way, your eyes are really beautiful, lemon colored eyes are really rare, aren't they? You almost don't notice it unless you lean in close…. Alright, I'll finish the food so we'll eat," Alistair said as he went back to cooking.

"Yeah…." Ronan muttered whilst looking towards him as he left, he looked good in the apron. It was like his sexiness and masculinity were spilling out from all angles just by donning it on.

'What am I thinking? I should just calmly drink my tea,' Ronan thought as he shook off those annoying thoughts from his mind without knowing that he wasn't the only person with those thoughts.

Another unwelcomed guest had intruded into his thoughts and was now laughing to himself,

'I did a good thing bringing him here,' Alistair thought as he smirked.

Later on, the duo had lunch after which Ronan finally got himself enough to spread out his drenched bag and his barely dry books. Luckily for him, the rain did not really affect it much so it was good.

'What a relief!'

After a very tiring day, the boys settled down to watch movies whilst eating some snacks, the two bonded, and Ronan found out that Alistair's tastes were quite simple to his surprise. After a whole day of hanging out and bonding, both of them had already become close friends.

It really wasn't difficult for them to click, maybe it was because of Ronan's chattiness or Alistair's easygoing nature but by the end of the day, Ronan was more than sure that he could at least talk freely with Alistair even if he was his senior.

"He's asleep?" Alistair muttered whilst looking at Ronan, he suddenly felt a pang of sadness, he really wanted to continue hearing his thoughts though… they were so much fun to listen to.

For as long as he had known he had the ability to feel other people's emotions. It was like a psychic ability but he had a problem- he couldn't turn it off if he wanted.

Always being burdened by other people's burdens it probably was a good thing that he was slow to feel or he would have lost his mind with the barrage of emotions always flowing towards him like a magnetic item towards a magnet.

But since he was rather slow in understanding these things they barely had an effect on him, due to this he was always curious however, curious as to what people felt.

Why did they make such a painful expression when they feel this bitter-like feeling? Why did they make a happy expression when they feel this sugary feel? What's with that face, are they crying or laughing, and why did this emotion feel rather dense?

It didn't make sense, what was so special about feelings that humans couldn't help but waver at each one of them? ...Why didn't he waver as they did from these feelings? Even though he knew the true nature of these feelings unlike them why couldn't he understand them?! ...No, rather, why couldn't he feel these things that they all felt!?

He was curious about these feelings, he wanted to understand them. If only these emotions, these abstract things could explain it to me themselves then…. then….

And somehow his wish was answered, Ronan appeared with his emotions that told tales, if he felt something sweet and comfy he would receive a commentary that explain why-

[He's so nice to me, I feel comfortable around him]

'So he's feeling comfortable, and being comfortable is this mind-soothing emotion that feels like a sleep-inducing medicine on a reduced scale.'

Just like this, he found himself learning slowly what these emotions he couldn't understand were, what they stood for, and why people felt them.

'Until I learn everything from you Ronan, am never leaving you alone,' Alistair thought as he laid down the sleeping boy on the bed before moving to another room.

Ronan would never know that he was in for some serious trouble.
