CHAPTER 33 - Half Truth
The words Pearl inquired of him weren't ones he was sure he could respond to any time soon.
"Tell me." Her voice quaked as her eyes searched for the truth in his.
For the next couple of minutes, Zale did not say anything. Of course, it was right to blame him but there was more to things than this.
"I am not a bad person," he confessed finally.
A vague answer. A very big one hiding his identity.
"Excuse me? Are those the words I wish to hear? A lot of things are hidden or do you take me for a fool?"
Zale breathed out sharply. How was he going to begin this? Tell her the entire truth or just protect her for her own good?
"My name is Zale."
"Not good enough," Pearl snapped. "Who are those men? What kind of trader are you? What do you want with the black market and why are they after your life?"
Prior, she planned on not saying anything but as soon as she opened her mouth to direct his answers, she rained questions at him.
