He was mesmerized by her blue eyes which seemed to draw him in.
To his surprise, their lips came close, only a breath away as their eyes fluttered close.
Whether or not it was their grief that brought this side of them out, it did not matter to them as they found solace and comfort in that closeness.
Just as their lips came crashing on each other the sight of her dead parents came rushing in a flash and Pearl pulled away swiftly.
She rushed to her feet as she gave her back to him and wrapped her hands around her body.
How things had moved from North to south within the blink of an eye was beyond Zale's understanding.
Still, he did not say anything and watched her, wondering what went on in her mind.
"I'm sorry."
Sorry?
That was wrong. She had no right to be sorry. If there was anyone who should, it was he who was sorry.
