The large tress littered many dead pine needles on the ground with a strange absence of pinecones that usually come with the dead pine. His steps crunched on the ground as he wandered around the dark forest, using his gut to guide him through the pathless maze. The trees seemed never ending as Andrew continued forward throught the dark green labyrinth.
Eventually after what seemed hours Andrew approached an opening in the trees, moving a couple of branches out of his eyesight so he could look into the opening. The opening was bare of life, only thing that filled it was the slight patches of green grass and a couple of oversized boulders that were lodged into the ground.
Looking around he couldnt see the end of the endless plains, looking deep into the distance all he could make out was a couple of pnds and other large rocks.
'I dont think that this is the right way. But something has to be out there, related to the wolf issue or not, the dungeon would put an endless bound of barren land and not do anything with it.'
Andrews inner dialoge tried to reason with himself to keep moving forward despite the seempingly pointless reasons too do so.
Andrew looked around the endless sea of brown dirt and peered side to side, what was odd about this was the fact that the transition from forestry to barren was almost instantaneous. The grass was cut in almost a perfect line except for the small patches which were obviously a different color than that of regular grass.
Andrew took a couple of steps forward towards the endless plain and was abruptly stopped by a floating message.
--------------------
You are entering a zone that was not intended for entrance.
All aspects of the trial from here on out are unstable.
It is recommended that you turn back to complete your designated trial.
--------------------
Andrew stopped walking and looked at the message in front of him.
[you know, for once i believe that maybe it's not the best idea to take the big step forward. Maybe turn around and accept our losses?]
The voice inside that he hadn't heard in a while rang out in his head, Andrew looked around once more before trying to muse a response.
"Well, the issue could lay out there couldn't it?"
[no, it says right there in the message that this area is not meant for entrance, which means that we've missed it. The goal we are looking for is somewhere behind us.]
Andrew nodded at this reasoning, but something deep within him was gnawing to know what couple was laying in front of him. What does unstable mean?
[i don't know, but i dont think it's the best idea to find out.]
Andrew reasoned with himself, but then again. If it's unstable would that mean that there are chances for positives?
Andrew thought about this back and forth for a couple of minutes before deciding against it, if it was really necessary he would check it out later after his main task was finished. So instead of entering it he walked along the forest line looking into it for wolves or any unnatural signs that could lead to something new.
The more he walked along the edge to the seemingly endless baron wasteland the more a pit lodged into his throat, causing him to look behind him every once in a while to check for something, but every time he turned around. Nothing was there.
"Yea, maybe we should head back in" Andrew spoke to himself and his system at the same time.
Andrew turned back towards the evergreen woods and walked into them without looking back, to where something bigger than mind was watching with glee.
Alise and Jake both jumped at the crashing of a window. Jake hurriedly grabbed a nearby chair that was used more as a desk chair. The black wheels whirled in tandem as he raised it above his head in preparation. Alise was different and instead turned around to face a small closet behind her, reaching inside to pull out a shotgun.
"WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE A SHOTGUN?" Jake yelled at her in surprise as she pulled out the weapon.
"For this reason you dipshit, now face forward you idiot." Alise retorted seriously before walking past him, shotgun in hand.
Jake stared at his mother in shock at her attitude, but quickly followed her with the chair above his head regardless.
Alise rounded the corner to see a large dog growling at her, it's black pelt practically stood on end like a cat after scrambling about. Alise raised her shotgun in defense if needed and watched as the dog growled loudly and lept at her.
BANG
The recoil practically dislocated her shoulder as it was now partially out of place. She had gone deaf for multiple seconds as she looked up to see the now mangled outcome.
The ringing in her ears was starting to settle down as she turned to jacob handing him the shotgun.
"You keep this loaded at all times and us it when needed." She told him sternly, not taking any answer she turned around and stepped over the bloody mess she had created. A loud pop resounded through the room as she strode towards the kitchen where she pulled out some large fish knives.
Jake just held the shotgun with shivering hands, looking down at the mess that his mother just created so nonchalontly. He stood there looking at it in shock.
"COME ON"
Jake snapped back to reality and wobbled around the bloody mess before streaming after his mother who walked out the front door.
Outside was no better, birds, insects, dogs, cats and even humans were all fighting each other in a bloody mess, cars were wrecked and houses were damaged. It seems that animals with a certain amount of intelligence were smart enough to side with their own race while some animals were attacking eachother with no remorse.
Jake looked at the mess with eyes full of fear and unease, Alise just walked out in front all of them with a determined expression, filled with resolve she walked forward and approached a wounded deer which lay on the ground as a coyote ravaged it.
Alise raised her hand and slashed down on the occupied coyote and then put the deer out of it's misery. This was done in quick succession with such precision that scared jake out of his pants as he stood still quivering.
Alise looked up from the two dead animals and watched as a blue screen flickered in front of her

'So this is how it's going to be huh?' Alise thought to herself, the only way she was able to do such things was because of the prospect of higher power.
Alise was a working woman, while she didn't mind not having something to do. She needed something to look forward to, at first it was helping her husband grow. But when that goal was stripped she moved onto helping Andrew grow, which as far as she was concerned was a success. Her two daughters were in better hands than she could ever protect them with and Jake was living his own life, with his own decisions. Even if they were slightly disappointing, they were his choice and she had no part.
But now, this was for her. This was a chance to get ahead and reach new heights only dreamt of in her daydream while cooking stews and boiling water. The thought of this rilled her up like a little kid on christmas morning, she let out a chuckle before looking around wildly.
'This is my shot, to protect others, not protected.' Alise thought to herself as she found her next target in front of her and she dove forward with eagerness. A newfound vigor was now awakened as she strode forward with the terrified jake behind her.
"Come on, this is your shot Jake, don't get yourself killed by standing there!!" Alise yelled back to Jake who was just now getting a grip on the situation, reloading his gun he nodded at his mothers back and began his own little rampage with a pale face.
