Chapter 27 - Village encounter

Andrew looked at the three wolves with great surprise and was struck stupid with the how fact that they were so close.

'I didnt even hear them!?' Andrew shouted in his mind, every encounter hes had so far hes been able to hear his enemy fairly easily. He pouted in his mind as he equipped his axes looking at the three wolves who slowed significantly as they neared him.

Andrew frowned in dissatisfaction and ran forward towards one of the three wolves in hopes to strangle one of them out before they gang up on him.

The wolf he was targetting widened it's eyes in surprise before Andrew swung down at it's neck, colliding with a large thump as the bone was dislodged, killing it instantly

A screen flashed into Andrews view and Andrew let out a smile before ducking to avoid one of the wolves who lept at him.

'Eyes of the impervious'

glaring at the wolf who hadnt lept at him with his passive to reduce time as he slowly crept forward. The wolfs ears slowly lowered and he watched as it's legs trembled lightly. Andrew stopped progressing hearing the other wolf get off the ground.

Cancelling his passive Andrew raised his right axe and threw it towards the wolf whose legs seemed to be frozen in place like a deer in headlights as the axe spun towards it's face with fear before it's vision turned black.

Andrew turned quickly to see the last remaining wolf look at him with fear as it slowly backed off.

'Item transport'

Andrew focused his mind on the Axe that was lodged into the wolfs skull before dislodging it with great speed. But instead of returning it to his hand Andrew had the better idea and forced the axe towards the remaining wolf at lightning speed. Watching as the axe collided with the fearfull wolfs side, creating a large gash in it's side as it collapsed.

Andrew retrieved his axe from the wolfs side and looked back to where the two people were standing before to see that they were no longer there.

"What were they so scared of? These guys were practically shrimp." Andrew sayed to himself as he kicked the wolfs corpse in front of him in annoyance. They were the only sign of intellegant life so far and hes lost it.

'Well, regardless they are over the river, so their village must be on the other side.' Thinking as he approached the rushing water in front of him.

Backing up a couple of steps he looked in front of him before running at full speed before jumping as high as he could, bringing his axes above his head. Andrew greatly underestimated the length of the river bend, but he had also greatly underestimated his own agility as he slammed his axes into the dirt on the other side. His legs being tugged along in the water.

Using the Axes as grapples hi brought himself out of the water and began to walk forward. Ignoring the fact that this was probably one of the most stupid things hes done in a long time.

The trees were no different on this side of the river, big enough to wrap both arms around it's trunk and still not be able to make it around half way. It's dark green pine needles blocked most of the blue light coming from the natural sky as he walked forward into the deep brush.

Looking around for more details Andrew took note of the booted footprints located on the ground in front of him before following them for a while, unsure whether this is the path they left from or the path that they took to arrive at the river.

"Welp, either way it should take me to their village or the two themselves" Andrew said out loud as he shook his legs to try and dry out his pants.

The sky was now dark as Andrew trudged forward, he had been walking for multiple hours on end and had killed many enemies along the way, allowing him to get a great portion of his trial mission done, which satisfied him greatly as it took a lot of pressure off of his shoulders. But he was still a long way from being done.

Looking around at the scenery that has remained a boring pine forest slowly darkening was certainly fairly depressing as he walked forward a little more.

He had lost track of the footprints a while ago and he had been following a fairly worn trail that seemed to be used often enough to transform the environment around it.

The pine trees in front of him slowly parted to reveal a small wooden village in the distance, which Andrew practically ran towards when he first saw it.

But he then remembered the caution that was in their eyes when they first met, deciding against running towards them in a frantic attempt to greet them. Instead Andrew cleaned off his bloodied axes to try and not seem threatening to the foreign language. Every little detail mattered as he had no method to talk to the people in front of him.

A stream of smoke trailed into the air from the village in front of him, he studied the small city lightly as he counted over 40 different buildings and many more stalls for what he could only be used for marketing and other uses. Andrew decided to walk sideways until he could see the center of the town.

He took a breath in and started to walk towards the village slowly, almost as fast as a toddler crawling so that he could be seen from a long distance and also gaive them enough time to prepare for what they find necessary.

He spotted an elderly man look at him with surprise before yelling out some incomprehensible language to others in the village. Many people swarmed quickly to look at him from a distance with fear and caution. Andrew realized he could see a lot clearer now as he could track many details about the people in front of him while he was still a couple hundred meters away.

He noticed two familiar faces and a small smile crept onto his face. From what he could tell, they couldnt see well enough to identify him yet. So he raised his arms away from his waist to hopefully show that he was not aggressive.

A couple seconds later he saw the man look at him with surprise before he hurriedly walked towards and older man who was standing in the center before letting out a long series of dialog that seemed to be rather good for Andrew.

Andrew soon neared about a 100 feet of the village and he looked at each of them more carefully with a small smile to try and seem friendly. Everyone there had horns besides some of the younger men in front of him. Many of them were holding spears and some of the older ones with bigger horns were holding swords.

Most of them had dark brown hair and some had red hair, it seemed like this has been a fairly small village for a long time now.

The man in the center had short brown hair with a long beard which flowed against the wind as he walked up to andrew with two swords on his back.

Andrews arms were starting to hurt after being held up in a passive position for so long as he looked towards the person approaching him.

"I dont know if you can understand me, but i come in peace." Andrew said with a large smile, hoping to get his point across.

The man in front of him stopped when Andrew spoke and he looked at him with great surprise at the appearance of a new language. The man looked puzzled before taking out his sword.

Andrew panicked and took a couple of steps back and lowered his hands to grip his axes.
