Chapter 8 - Episode 8: Storm before dawn

The male twin scowled, "Are you for real? The man is missing on there and all you care about that stupid offer his parents did? Do you even listen to yourself," utterly offended at her lack of empathy.

She sputtered with cold eyes, "You could have stopped him on time. Didn't you say you saw the whole thing? So yeah, you and that twink are at fault here."

Jake rubbed his face with his left hand, trying to not cause a scene as some people were rushing down towards their cabins. "Right, 'cause causing havoc jumping on the water after them increasing the number of missing people would have been a great idea." sarcasm is clear in his words.

The young woman smiled, aiming at her brother as if blaming him, "You could have and he would be here now and the engagement woulda been announced by now. Who knows, maybe I'd be married by the end of the year" the last sentence came out along with a giggle.

He shivered a little as listening to her speaking gave him chills, "How selfish can you be?, I don't know you anymore." The disappointment in his voice, causing it to crack at little as he lost his hopes to have his sister back, "You ain't the sister I grew up with. What did you do with her? Where did your compassion for humanity go?"

He knew something had changed when she moved to Paris years ago, but seeing her change of heart was like a slap back into reality. He missed his sister, but this woman in front of him was totally unknown to him.

"They are into the same bag where your straight self lives in," she mocked her brother, giggling devilishly.

"Is that a threat?" He retorted, heart broken as one of the few people he cared about was being so heartless.

She smiled with cold empty eyes, much like a doll in a dark room ready to steal someone's soul, "take it as you want, baby bro. Bet you'd be grounded if father were to know"

He laughed derisively, stepping away from her, "Not gonna work. He knows and he accepts me as I am, different from you. I just gotta keep it low and it's all good"

She didn't like the idea that her father supports him more than her, "That's why a twinkie defended a twink" laughing like a maniac, trying to provoke him so their father turns his back on him.

The male twin frowned, realizing hee vile intentions, "That's none of your business. I'm glad he jumped off the boat, getting engaged with someone like you would be worse than swimming with sharks." So he turned the tables.

She barked, scrunching her face as she didn't like the idea of losing her ticket to a life full of luxuries, "Take it back, idiot"

Jake chuckled when he saw her losing it, so he put his queen into motion to do a checkmate as a double take, "A little heads up, your 'fiancé' is not as straight as you think he is"

She lifted her hand to slap him with all his might, yet a kind, deep and low voice calling for the younger stopped her midair.

"Is everything alright, Jake?"

The large man spoke as he came downstairs, eyes on the younger, glad he came on time.

"Yeah, nothing to worry about," he smiled as the man approached them.

"The guests are displacing to their rooms, if you feel tired feel free to–"

The young boy cut him off before he could finish his sentence, "Actually, I'd like to help organize people as you're short-handed."

The cruise director spoke, startled at the proactive approach, "You don't mind?"

Jake's sister gasped in horror at how his brother threw away his status to help, what she considered, a simple worker.

"Not at all!" He hopped on his feet, dashing towards the tall male, like a hopping bunny.

They left the sour young lady, cursing at them in her mind as they stepped into the main deck.

With the help of the younger, Ramon made sure everyone stays safe in their cabins before getting the ship back to land.

-

Hours later they arrived at port, Jake stood on a side within the bridge, staring from side to side, just behind Ramon who was on the control panel making sure the hull didn't touch the seabed.

"Angello, tie up the ship" he commanded to his right hand who rushed out of the cabin without protesting.

"I've never seen the sea as I did today" he squealed, seeing how it looked different from what he'd always seen.

He nodded, patting the younger's back, then he saw his right hand walk in, but his lips hung open seeing his actions, running off leaving the tall male a bit confused.

He played it off, not wishing to make the younger feel bad, "yeah, it helps to clear up one's mind, maybe you can accompany us again in another circumstances" he offered out of kindness.

However as soon as the offer came, the younger didn't miss his chance, 'Areyou hiring? I work in any area, I'm a fast learner. You can put me in any position, I swear I won't leave you down," the tall male ruffled his messy hair, a bit surprised at the boy's answer.

"I have no doubts about that, but I mean as a guest" his eyes softened as a mesmerising smile enlightened his face, and his dimples became more prominent.

The boy nodded, completely gone, absorbed into the dimpled man's smile.

He stated not giving him a chance to turn him down, "You say the word and I'd be here"

Ramon tried to reason with Jake, "Won't your father get mad–"

Yet the younger one beat him to it, letting him know his father wouldn't oppose, "Nah, my dad is grumpy and everything, but he supports me in anything I choose to be, I just have to ask him and he'd say yes, as long as I don't get in troubles."

The bond the younger one had with his father might have been classified as trust and support for the younger to find his path in life, a rare sight which he wished he had with his father back then, "If so, then let's get moving, we gotta help people disembark the ship" hopes of becoming to his brother what his father wasn't to him bloomed within, helping his brother to find his path in life a new resolution in life.

They guided everyone out of the ship, yet Mrs. & Mr. Johnson stayed behind with Mr. Lee and his children.

"I hope you're aware a lawsuit is on its way, Mr. Robbins." the woman spoke without remorse.

Her husband sighed, shaking his head in dismay, "Don't take it personal, indeed it's just a call to authorities to help with the search party. I truly hope it doesn't go to such lengths"

The woman gasped, offended, "Stop apologizing, they must be sorry for not finding my son, you will face my lawyer"

The stubborn elder woman walked ahead, disembarking, not looking behind, her nose up high.

Mr. Johnson patted his shoulder, reassuring the young Captain, "There is no lawsuit on its way. I hope we can both find our dear ones."

He walked off to stop his wife in case she were planning something to damage his reputation.

"I truly sorry, young man, I hope you will be able to find your brother and Capt Johnson" he shook hands with Ramon who smiled, yet it didn't reach his eyes missing his brother was taking a toll on him already.

The elder spoke to Jake and Siomi, "Let's go, children. The car is waiting"

"Dad, I'll stay in here" the younger boy spoke when his father held his hand to lead them out of board.

"What's the reason?" The man asked his son out of concern.

"I wanna help with the search party, dad. Pretty please, I promise I'll pick up your calls, but lemme stay. I won't cause troubles" he begged his father who let go of his hand, letting out a sigh, knowing how stubborn the younger one can be.

The man smiled whilst the boy pouted, "I'll call you at lunch time to make sure you've eaten" his son nodded whilst his daughter rolled her eyes with a blank face, avoiding staring at them.

"Thanks dad" the affectionate boy hugged his father as farewell, seeing him off when they disembarked.

Ramon questioned the boy, unsure if it was a good idea, "Are you sure you wanna stay?"

Jake spoke full of resolution, eyes sparkling, "Never been so sure of something in my entire life as I am now"

He messed up the younger's hair as he spoke, "Let's get some breakfast before we talk with the control tower", deep down thankful with the cheery boy so he could smile, even if it was for a brief moment.

"Breaky breaky breaky" the boy sang as he followed after the tall male who walked ahead leading the way.

He stopped on his track to stare back at the bubbly boy, "Break-ky?" He asked, a bit confused.

/Does he mean his girlfriend?/ Ramon pondered that question within himself whilst the boy nodded, grinning, showing off his teeth.
