The elderly woman guided Teo towards his temporary room, a smile plastered on her thin lips, her slow steps due to age yet strong.
Teo followed behind, glad to know his body will finally find rest on a comfy warm bed.
"You'll be spending the night here. If you need anything, my husband and mine's room is down the corridor." She aimed at the end of it which led to said place.
Teo nodded, bowing respectfully, "Thank you so much, eh, the bathroom-"
She shook her head, eye disappearing as she grinned, "Worry not, it's small, but it has it own personal one, it was our son's room after all"
Teo gasped as he didn't consider that possibility, "But your son might get mad if I-"
She lifted a hand in the air, voice gentle, "He wouldn't get mad, I'm sure wherever he is he would like it if it can be used for someone in need. Make yourself comfortable" although her words were steady one could feel a sense of pain within them, yet holding hopes.
The blonde didn't know how to answer to it, he would be lying if he were to say it didn't picked up at his curiosity, but she respected his decision about not seeking further into his life so he decided to do the same, "Then I'll do a good use of it, thank you"
"Good night, young boy" she held his hand like a mother does, which for an odd reason reminded Teo his grandmother so he pecked her head.
"You can call me Teo, no need to be so formal, may I call you granny?" He asked kindly.
She hugged his chest, holding back her tears as the young male's kindness remind her son who was now gone.
"Yes, son, you can…" her words drowned a little as she let go, her eyes glistening yet her smile brighter than he expected.
"Sweet night, son. Don't forget to use a blanket" he gave her thumbs up.
Waving her goodnight as she walked ahead in the direction of her bedroom, then he turned the doorknob.
The old door creaked a bit when it opened slowly, he let out a sight as he was expecting a room for him to sleep alone, but it could be a lot to ask for considering the small house.
Josh on the other hand heard the door suspecting who just walked in, but different from Teo he was informed in advance they would share a room as there weren't more than two in the whole house: one being the main which belong to the elders, and the guest one's which is the one they are in at the moment.
The blonde male cleared his throat, seeing Josh sitting down on the floor connecting his phone to a charger on the wall, not even turning to look at the door, which didn't make sense as he was a bit noisy when he opened it.
—-/Is he mad at me?/ Teo pondered to himself as he was ignored by the older so he coughed this time a bit louder.
The ravenette finally turned around to face him, his face expressionless.
Teo saw that blank face on him, wishing he could distinguish any emotion on the older one's face, so he said the first thing that popped into his head, "Just a bed?"
Josh smiled as an answer, which drew a sigh from the younger as he found out he doesn't have to walk on eggshells around him, "You can take it, I'm used to sleeping on the ground" yet his words left him confused again.
–---/He 's mad. Great, you suck at even making friends… if I can get through this then I can go all the way to get my sunshine/ he boosted himself up within his head.
The ravenette apologized, "I dragged you into this… I can't be that selfish–"
Teo spoke a little loud and fast as he wasn't expecting an apology for an incident which wasn't within their control, "It's not your fault, so you don't need to apologize"
Josh continued as he thought it was only fair to explain his side so the younger doesn't resent him, "I should've been more careful in the ship,"
Teo shook his head, yet Josh kept on going, "If I didn't stumble with your boyfriend we wouldn't be here." A sad smile on his gorgeous face rose up as he truly thought the drunken man was his special one.
Teo chuckled as he needed to clear up this before the misunderstanding gets worse, "He's not my boyfriend. He's my friend, and crush… But thanks for the goodwill"
Josh mimicked his reaction, "I hope you get your man." This caused Teo's face to flare up, like a Christmas lantern.
"Regarding the rescue, I jumped into the water on my own, it was my choice. You're safe and sound so it was all worthy. I don't blame you for it so you don't owe me anything. I'm sorry if I made you think otherwise."
Teo coughed, thankful for the man's fast actions, so he felt bad for yelling at him early on the day, trying to push it onto himself, "I drained your phone battery. I didn't mean to…" a hand stopped him from talking.
The ravenette, shook his head, a soft kind gaze landed on the blonde male, "I didn't tell you it might drain if it was on, even without being used, but now it's charging so it'll be full in a few hours. You can call your brother in the morning at least you wanna call him an hour so I'd hand it over to you"
Teo gasped, happy to know he would be able to call his brother to not worry about him, "Can we do that?" He couldn't help a squared smile from blooming on his beautiful face, eyes almost vanishing.
The ravenette smiled, reflexively, seeing his actions making him look adorable, but covered his mouth with a fake cough when he caught himself slipping, "Yeah, I mean the battery is still dead but will work just fine after it has at least 20%. How about you take a shower in the meantime? Mr. Rivera said the water from the hoze isn't that cold, but if you want warm water I can go and turn on the heater."
"No! As long as it's not as cold as the sea, then I'm fine" Teo interjected as warm water might not be so good for his skin.
The young male asked out of curiosity, "Don't you want to take one too?"
Josh lifted an eyebrow, deciding to tease the young boy, "Is that an invitation?" He couldn't hold his laugh any longer, bursting out right there to which Teo threw a pillow at his head as an answer.
The younger's face was on fire, his worries from hours ago long forgotten, whilst Josh held the pillow rolling on the floor laughing harder as his surly face was fun to see, "No, jerk! Nevermind, I really need one. Don't you dare to disturb me or I'll stuff where the sun doesn't reach you"
Josh laughed even more at that threat, whilst Teo walked into the bathroom, the older's laugh echoing in the small bedroom.
The older laid down over a handmade rug, closing his eyes as he tried to breathe again as he could barely stop himself from bursting into a laughing fit every time the younger's lemon-sucking-like face popped within his head.
He stared at the ceiling, counting the scrapes.
"Maybe I could take a nap, at least the rug is less painful than the sand." He talked to himself.
He closed his eyes but for an odd reason sleep didn't come as easily as he expected it would, so he sat up again.
"I get it!" He flickered his fingers, getting up, walking towards the drawers.
Opening the bottom drawer box where the elder man said there was a cushioned sleeping bag.
He fetched it from its confines, then proceeded to close it.
Opening it he noticed it had a funny cute bear in the middle on a green bottom with a bunch of tiny pink chibi dolls.
He smiled to himself seeing how cutely it was decorated, "handmade? The quality is amazing"
Carefully he expanded it on the ground, just above the rug.
Crouching to open it so he could fit in, but he just left it open to lay above it.
Comfort ran over his body, taking a deep breath he closed his eyes, " I wonder if the little one is done? I should've gone in sooner… That's what you get for being a gentleman, man…" he chuckled to himself as his eyelids became heavier with every blink.
Soon sleep took over as the warmth surrounding him lulled him into a deep slumber.
A pillow landing on his face with the strength of a punch straight to his chin, causing him to wince. "The heck! One can't sleep in peace now?"
