The day which initially seemed fast turned out to be long after Kira made a conversation with Hoshi Suta. Furthermore, after he had been forced to become her manager after Suta didn't give up at all choosing him as her manager. The smile and the words from Suta got through all the way to the door to his heart.
"That was unlike me," He said while ringing the house bell.
"Welcome home!" A woman suddenly popped up after the door opened. The woman was already in her 40s but still looked young, which was none other than Kira's mother. Kira and his Mother had similar faces, but it's just that Kira's character is derived from his father who is also the same, an introvert. The woman named Kousei Kirei, which means 'a beautiful star', greeted her son cheerfully. It could be seen from how she was spinning around her son by asking how his first day at school was.
But Kira gave her a cold shoulder and ignored her. Because he wasn't interested at all in telling her about things that weren't too relevant because surely his mother would drag the conversation and the topic would definitely go everywhere around. It might not sound so bad at first, but Kira knew that his mother, Kirei, liked to drag the conversation and in the end, she would ask about something private and make him uncomfortable with the questions.
Especially, if she asked if Kira found his ideal woman in high school because before leaving for school, his mother said that High school was the right time for Kira to enjoy his youth and find their 'love', even though he had refused it outright because according to Kira, the school was not a place to find love. He could look for it later when he got to work.
"What about it? What about it? Did you find someone cute? Or someone who matches your criteria?" his mother asked.
And sure enough, that was what she asked shortly after her only son came home from school. It was not about school subjects or nor of whether he'd found a friend, but of women. Is it only women who could make him excited about school? Well, even though he wasn't too enthusiastic about going to school either because of the incident that happened this morning. It was very difficult for him to go to school again. Of course other than that he had no friends.
"Mom, can you ask about the more common things that parents usually ask their children?"
"Eh? Isn't this something normal to ask children?"
"Of course not! That question is usually asked of someone who just came into work or someone who went on a blind date, not of a kid who just entered high school,"
Kira then walked towards the stairs and climbed them. But of course, he didn't ignore his parents' questions, he just answered them with another topic "The lessons are still easy because it's the first day, and the teacher also taught it well."
"EEHH? That was boring. I want to know about love"
"Just talk to dad then!! I don't want to talk about love" Kira seemed annoyed not because he was angry at her mother's question, but because he had already heard that over and over again from his mother. From junior high school to high school, even when shopping at the mall or supermarket. There was no stopping her from talking about love.
"Mom always just wants to talk about love, and too bad I'm not interested at all. It's not even just me, at dinner Dad always hears things about love from Mom, and I know he's really tired of listening to it every day, you can see from his expression," he complained.
Not long after that, Kira's father whom he had just mentioned, had come home. Kira heard the bell ringing and also his father's voice from upstairs. Kira then rushed to change his clothes and get ready to have dinner with his family. However, he was suddenly startled by the sound of a notification ringing from his cell phone, which he had barely heard of at all. It was a sound that was unfamiliar to him because the sound he had always heard from his cell phone was the sound of an alarm or a call. Even though it was just a call from his mother, that sound was the only sound that was familiar to his ears, not the sound of chat notifications from social media.
"Hm? This is... Hoshi Suta?" He looked surprised when he saw the notification name on his cellphone. This was the first time a woman... let alone a woman, even had someone greet him via chat,
Hoshi Suta: 'Manager!'
With curiosity, he answered: 'What's wrong Hoshi Suta?'
But after a while, Suta did not answer messages from Kira yet. And Kira wondered if it was because he was too quick to reply, and making Suta uncomfortable as if he was a stalker waiting to contact him.
"I should have waited 5 minutes to reply, Kira, you idiot," Kira muttered.
But why did Kira have to think about it so deeply? He shouldn't have cared about that because he never cared about anything in the first place. All he had always cared about was how he should survive and not burden his parents, that's all he had in mind.
Or is that because it's the first time Kira had been approached by someone? Or because it was the first time for him to have a friend? Even so, both of the cases shouldn't have been too relevant for him.
He then left his cell phone and went to the dining room to greet his father who was already at the dinner table, "Kira, how was school?" Asked his father. Someone who had similar hair to Kira, the same eyes, and even a personality that seems like a copy-paste, was called Kousei Akarui. Somehow they had names that are almost related to each other because Akarui meant bright which was his name meant 'a bright star'.
A bright star, a beautiful star, and a shining star. Without finding out, he already knew for sure his mother had given him his name. She must have forced his father to accept that name and surely she would have said that this was all fate.
Kira tried to replicate all the possible events in his brain, and sure enough, he could imagine them all. And suddenly when he remembered the word destiny, he was reminded of someone. Someone who was not from his family.
Kira then sat down and greeted his father, "School? Hm... It's normal, nothing special."
"Ah, I see..."
That's the conversation that came out of the father's and son's mouths at home. However, it certainly wouldn't stop that easily, because a mother was definitely someone who wanted to listen to their family's life more than her husband and her children.
"Kira~, Maybe he has found a woman~ Do you know honey? He tried to hide it from me before, but do you know what? You can't lie to me that easily, Kira!" Her mother said cheerfully while preparing her dinner.
"Ah? I see. Is that true Kira?"
"No dad. Mom is just talking nonsense."
"I see, all right."
The two then returned to silence and waited quietly for their food. As for Akarui, he didn't want to bring up privacy from his child, because that was his son's business and not his. If a child was restrained, it did not mean he would be a good child. Precisely he would find a way to get out of that house and become someone who was rebellious.
Therefore, it was better for him to just stay silent until his own son spoke to him about it. However, just as he decided not to dig any deeper, his son said, "But... I got a friend, she was a carefree girl. If I compared her, she is almost like mom. I mean, her cheerful nature, nothing else."
Akarui saw an expression he had never seen from Kira before. But he knew that he was enjoying himself, with that relief expression on Kira. "Is that so? I hope you guys can be good friends for a long time even though you only had 3 years of high school." And at that moment, HIS FATHER WANTED TO KNOW MORE THAN THAT!
Of course, it was understandable if a father wanted to know more about his son or daughter's life. But, the thought of his kid became rebellious, he would never forgive himself if he did that, ever. That was why he preferred to wait until his son told him more about it.
Or... He had an Idea.
Because he didn't want to intrude on his privacy, for the first time he wished his wife would ask Kira that. He then turned his head to his wife.
"Got it! I already know it~" His mother said. "So? What about it? Are you in love?"
But that's not what he wanted to hear from Kira! He wanted to see individual development within Kira. The character development, that he had been hoping for his son, who was also an introvert. He was very worried because he hardly ever saw Kira with a friend, so he was very happy when he heard that his son had found a friend. However, his mother instead brought the subject towards 'love' which Akarui really didn't care about at all.
"Of course not, I just want to be his friend," He said. Hearing that answer, Akarui nodded happily and proudly toward her son.
"Eh? It all started as friends, Kira~ Mom and Dad were also just friends. And remember this, when you date or get married later, you will also still be friends. Because being someone's boyfriend or partner is the same as being his friend for life! Right, my love?"
Hearing that, Akarui finally understood. He agreed with the words of his wife, Kirei. If his daughter was dating his friend, that meant she would have a friend for life. And with that, Akarui didn't have to worry about his son anymore.
"YOU ARE A GENIUS, MY LOVE! I AM PROUD OF YOU!" Akarui said to his wife.
His wife chuckled as Akarui suddenly held her hand tightly and looked her straight in the eyes "I love you too baby," Kirei said.
But Kira just sighed and denied the sentence from his parents, "I don't care about love at all, Dad, Mom. You know that, right?"
His father and mother looked at each other. And because Kira suddenly brought this up, the atmosphere of this family dinner suddenly became awkward and his father regretted it.
