At the awkward end of dinner, Kira's mother and father felt uneasy with him. "Is he carrying too much burden on his shoulder?" his father said,
"Maybe. But that's his way. Even if you force him not to, he will insist," his mother replied.
Her mom and dad saw Kira on the way to his room on the second floor. "Good night, Mom and Dad," he said and left them.
Kira thought he was unsuitable because he was too far behind in terms of love. Since he only talked to women when he had to, such as when he had to do group work or return a lost item. Therefore, he did not have any thoughts about the recognition of the name 'love' any time soon.
"Huh?" He was startled to see a notification on his phone. He remembered that Suta had sent a message before he greeted his father. And now he wondered what she wanted to say.
As he opened his phone, there was a message from Suta, asking what his preferences for a female idol would be.
Kira looked disgusted as he replied to Suta.
Kira: 'It's up to you to figure it out.'
Kira was an ordinary person who knows nothing about Idols. It was just like someone who had just learned how to read and was suddenly asked to give a speech in front of a large group of people.
"He shouldn't have asked such a difficult question," he said in annoyance.
"Ding ding." the sound of the notification came from his phone again.
Suta: 'I want to know the manager's taste!'
He was even more annoyed because whether he wanted to or not, there was no way he could resist. Once the two divine beings got excited, just like his mother, there was no stopping them.
He remained on the bed and pondered what kind of taste she had. Good at cooking? Can help to take care of her parents? Or even be able to massage them when they were tired after having worked long.
"Wait... This is not about my taste in a woman to marry," he said, shocked at how stupid he was.
Even so, he came to realize that he was not really interested in cuteness and that she preferred it.
Kira: 'Maybe I prefer adult women'
Thinking that Suta would need time to reply to his message, he temporarily put down her phone. However, Kira heard the notification sound from his phone again just a few seconds later.
He murmured, "Isn't she quite fast?"
Suta: 'PERVERT? IS MANAGER A PERVERT?'
Kira then had a look at the message he sent earlier about his preference for adult women. Although...
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND, DAMN IT!" He shouted from his room so loudly that his parents, who were still eating, could hear him. His mother was happy, thinking that Kira was having fun with his friends, while his father was intrigued by his sudden scream. He wanted to go over and see what he was doing, but he knew he'd just get scolded.
"This girl... She teased me..." He said red-faced, staring at his phone screen, typing a reply to Suta's message.
Kira: 'I did not say that, you fool!'
Suta: 'Ahahaha, I know Manager~ I was just messing around with you!'
Suta: 'You like this kind of thing, right?
Suta: 'Hoshi Suta sent a photo.'
Suta sent one message and another with a time gap that was neither too short nor too long. So, when he received a photo from Suta, Kira, who had opened Suta's chat page because he hadn't closed it, stared at his phone screen without even blinking.
As if he could not bear to look at his photo, he looked away.
Suta was photographed in a black shirt and jeans, without forgetting the watch on her hand and the ponytail adorning his hair. She also had a sharp stare at the camera, as if she was looking directly at Kira.
Kira said, "She got this photo ready very quickly."
Suta: "It's like that, isn't it, Manager?
Kira had no doubt that she was a very beautiful girl. No, actually, he thought she was a very beautiful girl. And it made Kira's heart skip a beat, especially after seeing the photo she had sent.
"This is really... my criteria." Kira subconsciously put his finger on the top of the screen and hit 'Save photo'.
Later, he was aware of what he had done and had a feeling of guilt.
Kira: 'My apologies for what I did are from the bottom of my heart. I'm just a sinful fool, and to make amends, I'll listen to your wish, whatever that may be.'
On the other hand, Suta was taking off her shirt and putting on her pajamas when she received the message from him. And a moment later, she looked at the message... confused.
"Huh? What does that mean?"
And that's how the night ended for both of them after Suta said good night to Kira, but he didn't answer her because he still felt guilty about keeping Suta's photo in secret.
The next day, Kira went to school feeling normal, thinking nothing would be different from his everyday life. However, the sound of a woman's voice greeting him suddenly interrupted Kira's peaceful morning,
"Greetings, Manager~" greeted Suta brightly.
However... Who would have thought that Suta would greet him with such a greeting? It made all the students around him look at him and even notice him,
"Manager?" There was a lot of chatter among the students around them about what the meaning of that word was.
Kira actually knew that life at his school would be a little different. But the difference was too much if he was with this girl named Suta. And to prevent that, she had a brilliant idea.
By simply ignoring her.
"Oi, Manager?" Suta continued to cling to Kira, not in a physical way, but in a mental way. Her desire was to be closer to her manager, but that was too dangerous for Kira. "Oooii, are you listening?"
"Hoshi..." Kira called out Hoshi Suta's surname.
"Yes? You heard me!" Suta nudged him.
"Can you not call me manager at school? It bothers me."
"Huh? But yesterday, you looked fine when I called you 'manager'."
"Not you..." Kira's eyes were on the other students, "...but the other students. Their gaze was piercing at me. I don't know what to do about it."
"Ahaha, you're overreacting, manager! Take it easy, aren't you the same as me? Since when do you give a damn about other people?"
"Well, that's true. But I still want my peaceful day. I don't want them to start gossiping about me. What if they thought that I had sold you to the adult store or to the adult service? I would get thrown away by them, and even get thrown by a stone until I die".
"I don't understand... what kind of logic was that?" Suta then tugged at Kira's hand, "I have no interest in what they have in mind. But I think they won't be that evil~" Suta smiled.
Even though they had done something the day before that probably hurt his heart, Suta was still able to say something that had a very deep meaning.
'Do idols always have forgiveness for those who do wrong to them? Or is it just Suta? In any case... this is wonderful,' Kira thought.
Then, the two of them reached her classroom. And when the two of them had sat down and had put their bags down next to their desks, Suta spoke to her once more: "Hey, hey, Manager! Do you know Tokyo Tower?"
"Tokyo Tower? Of course, I do. I went there with my family once"
"To their concert? But they haven't had any concerts before, though."
"Concert?" Kira tilted his head. "What do you mean by concert?"
Suta then showed her cell phone, and on the screen of her cell phone were 5 women who were dancing and singing beautifully. "Tokyo Tower! They're one of the rising idol groups!"
Kira had a blank look on his face at the screen of his cell phone because he wasn't sure of his feelings. He thought that the Tokyo Tower Suta was referring to was the tower in Tokyo, not the idol group.
"Sigh, kids these days," Kira said shaking his head.
"Huh? Why are you acting like an old man, Manager? And aren't you still a kid too, manager?"
Kira then looked back at the screen of the phone that Suta was showing him, with Suta humming happily to the rhythm of the song from the video.
If Kira had to be honest, he didn't know anything about it. He had no idea what kind of reaction he should have. He just stayed still, waiting for Suta to talk after the video ended.
"Did you have a look at that, manager? When they did the turn together, they were very much in sync. Their movements seem to follow each other."
Kira looked again, scrutinizing the video.
And that was right, Kira thought that if they took out only one member, the movements of the choreography wouldn't be as beautiful as that shown on the screen, although they might have another choreography.
Gradually, Kira had a better understanding of Suta's meaning. "You see, she's the main dancer of this group. When she starts dancing, the others accompany her with different dance moves. Looking at her, it's like the sun surrounded by other stars... Very cool!"
Kira had a look at Suta, who was already in a state of excitement, and her eyes were only on the screen of her mobile phone. Stunned. As if in her mind, she was screaming and saying, 'I am going to be just like them one day'.
"Aanndd? How was it? It's cool, wasn't it cool?" Suta said as she turned off the video once it was finished and put her cell phone down on the table.
Kira scratched his head a bit. He didn't know what to do, but... after seeing Suta trying to talk to him even though nobody wanted to talk to him because Kira was a serious person and always to the point, he decided to be honest with Suta, so there wouldn't be any misunderstanding between them.
"To tell the truth, I don't know anything."
"Well..." Suta was a bit disappointed and bummed out. "...I guess... Manager doesn't know much about Idol... If that is the case... it can't be helped... I forced you to talk with me, after all."
"Honestly, I don't know much about them"
Suta was further dejected, "A-As expected. W-Well, I guess I got a little too excited." In her excitement to tell him about Tokyo Tower's new song that had been released, Suta had forgotten about forcing Kira to become his manager.
"I only found out about Idol yesterday because of you, of course, I don't know anything. So give me some easy-to-understand words so I can have a better understanding and talk to you about Idol".
Suta was in awe of Kira's words. From the sentence that came out, it could be concluded that he didn't hate it, but needed time to learn and adjust instead, so Suta had to lead her slowly so Kira could help her become an idol.
Suta smiled, "Alright, I get it! I'll teach you all the Idol stuff!"
"Well, I'm going to be your Manager after all." he sighed.
Then, she showed him another group of idols from their cell phones. "Look at this, manager! This is one of the famous male idols of Bliss Corporation, 'X-Men'! And their junior, the female idol group under the same company, is 'Kiss Kiss'. Their company is no joke! These two are the most famous groups in Japan!"
"So... what do you have in mind? To beat them?"
"If you cannot beat them, then be a part of them! I don't have a plan right now, so I need your help, manager."
"This is going to take a long time," Kira complained, covering his face with his palm.
"Hahaha, ain't that interesting?"
Thus, the beginning of their journey was at hand.
