Chapter 24 - Myth or Truth?

Kinsei pressed the goggles accordingly to the manual, and suddenly he could hear Sezia's voice like she was in front of him.

He glanced and saw Otta not saying anything, and Reginald who looked like he was struggling to walk across this dusty desert.

Slowly, he began to feel like something was pulling his legs too.

'Hm?' He looked down to see nothing but dust passing by.

Than he raised his head to look ahead again.

"There's a legend told about this place." He heard Sezia's voice, "Well not really, since it happened less than a hundred years ago.

The story said that this was where the rumoured invader war happened. The place we are at is the demon territory. Where many died when the angel striked.

The dust was from demon bones. Thus the legend of those that falls here, will fall along with the demon was created."

'Huh?' Reginald gulped, "Do you think that's true?" He heard Sezia's story from Kinsei's goggles. He glanced at Otta and Kinsei who was as slow as hi..

"It's just a rumour." Otta shrugged, "We ain't demons afterall."

"But what about the story Miss Kate told? The Angel whose kin was actually the demons." Kinsei asked, feeling a shiver up his spine.

"We are just humans. Even angels and demons can die, so they are considered mortal. No?" Otta replied, "It doesn't matter if we actually have demon blood or what not. As long we don't follow the path of a demon, all should be good."

"Are we actually demons?!" Kinsei asked.

"Man than you gotta be such a weak demon." Reginald smirked underneath his scarf.

"Fuck you!" He turned back only to see Reginald fall down again, "Ha!"

"Ah.." Reginald held Otta's hand, "I hate this place." And pulled himself up.

"We are going to the zone where both invaders clashed against each other." They heard Sezia's voice, "It's said that you can train yourself better there, due to the pressure by both demons and angels even if they are no longer there.

Of course, we have to be careful since that's considered the central part of the world. Almost at least. Connecting to many different other countries. Granted, the place is hugeee! But can never be too careful."

"How long till we reach there?" They heard Dealla's voice.

"When the dust stop blowing, we can rest."

In a forest, Sanosuke lay against a tree while resting. Half his face was bruised, with many more bruises over his body.

"What's up with the dust?" Sanosuke coughed and asked.

"During winter," Elda started explaining, "Is when the magic covering the battlefield is at its weakest. When the dust blows, its said that those who attract the dust the most means that the demon are willing to work for them."

"Demon? Dust?" Sanosuke didn't catch on, as he took a bite of a cooked meat Elda gave him, "This meat taste weird.. where did you get it."

"I caught it." She said, "He was very hard to catch."

"How did you know the monster gender?" Sanosuke finished chewing and swallowed the food.

"Can tell by the colour." She replied, "Rest up, there won't be training till we head to that dusty place."

"Right, what about demon and dust?" He returned back to the topic.

"The place we are going to was where the demon once ruled." She simply said.

"What happened to the demons and angels? I heard in the past, they are very common." He looked up at Elda.

"Well, the truth is," Elda closed her eyes and smirked, "I'm a demon hunter. My blood is toxic to the demons." She proudly claimed.

"Hm…" Sanosuke wasn't buying that.

Elda opened her eyes and saw Sanosuke's expression, "What's with that doubtful expression?" She crossed her arm.

Sanosuke pinched his chin and asked, "Are you trying to make me into a demon hunter too?"

Elda looked up at the sun that was slowly rising, "You can think of it that way."

'Hm?' Sanosuke looked down at his hand, and before his eyes, the cut he had was regenerating rapidly, he remembered what Elda talked about a few days ago.

He carefully observed Elda, and noticed a new scar near her neck that wasn't there when he first saw her.

Elda looked down and noticed Sanosuke's stare "What's up?" She asked.

"Where did you get the meat from?" He locked gaze with her, "Truthfully."

"Would you believe when I say it's from an old friend?" She scratched her head.

"No." He bluntly replied, causing her to shrug her shoulders.

"I've told the truth."
