Chapter 29 - Danger Ahead

Reginald slowly opened his eyes, and the first thing he saw was a feet.

"Fucking hell!" He roared and pushed the feet away, causing River to roll towards Kinsei.

He sat up and rubbed his face, looking at River sleeping outside of his sleeping bag.

While Kinsei was facing away from them, still in his sleeping bag.

He yawned and unzipped the tent, noticing the sun seemed to be setting.

Then he looked out and saw a lot of equipment set up. With Otta in the middle wearing goggles with black leases. Beatrix next to her with her eyes closed.

Reginald immediately went back inside, and saw through the tent a bright light shining, before it dimmed down.

"Higher." He heard Beatrix's voice, "Higher, wait a little low."

"Got it." He heard Otta said, "This is Higher than normal, I'm surprised it's still stable."

"I believe there's ways to stabilised it further, need to ask the left hand man." Beatrix said, as Otta turned off the machine.

"Who is he?" Otta asked, feeling curious.

"He's Professor Frode only student left." Beatrix said, "Well technically Professor Frode has two students, we suspect that he and his first student died after the explosion."

"I just asked for his name…" Otta muttered, as she recorded the details of her machine on her phone.

"Say," Beatrix's voice lowered, as she opened her eyes and looked at Otta, "Have your power evolved? Since I heard selfless people have an easier time evolving their power than normal, but harder time awakening."

Otta glanced up for a moment,"I've never claimed I'm selfless." She said as she kept her machine away.

Beatrix was stunned for a moment, before she chuckled softly, "So your power isn't storage? Is that your invention?"

"I've created this storage space within my own power, so my power is this storage space." She replied.

"I thought the most mysterious person here was only the commander," Beatrix mumbled, "But I can't follow your train of thought at all."

"Should I take that as a compliment?" Otta raised an eyebrow, looking at Beatrix who shrugged in response.

"Wake the others up," Sezia ordered while coming out of the tent, "The wind is starting to blow."

Reginald heard Sezia's loud voice, and he looked over to see Kinsei slowly waking up.

"Do you have some kind of alarm clock?" Reginald asked, "You always seem to wake up on time."

Kinsei slowly sat up and was rubbing his eyes, "Ah yes, and it's seven fifty eight now." He joked, as he looked at River sleeping upside down again, "Had a good sleep last night?" He smirked, and Reginald just went to roll up his sleeping bag.

Otta looked at her watch, "Two more minutes to eight." She told Beatrix who was keeping the tent.

"Does Kinsei have power related to time?" She muttered under her breath, as she kept the poles.

After everyone woke up and packed up, they wore their scarf, or mask, and followed Sezia's lead.

Beatrix walked beside Kinsei and asked, "By the way, is your last name Polman?"

Kinsei almost tripped, as he balanced he replied, "How did you know?"

"Hm, do you know Kirton?" She asked, "Your name reminds me of him. By any chance, are you his brother?"

Kinsei didn't answer for a while, looking lost in thought.

"Earth to Kin, earth to kin." She waved her hand in front of him.

"Kin?" He jolted back to reality, he stared at Beatrix, "You barely know me, what makes you think you can call me by nickname like that?"

"Well, if Kirton is your brother. That makes you my little bro." She said.

Kinsei's expression went blank for a moment, "Are you his girlfriend?!"

"What no!" Beatrix immediately replied, "He's like my older brother too!"

Kinsei nodded, before his eyes widened, "Wait he's alive?!"

"Huh?" Beatrix was also confused, "You mean he's dead? The last I checked, he's very well and alive. And telling me to not surrender any blueprints."

Kinsei went silent again, looking up at the dark sky.

Beatrix placed her hand on his head, or cap, and asked, "Ain't you glad he's alive?"

Kinsei sighed, "I don't know." He simply replied.

Beatrix hit his cap lightly, and walked towards Dav and Frad.

"Hey say how did you two meet? Was it love at first sight?" She looked at them, waiting for an answer, "Hey come on, tell me tell me."

Dav's head turned towards Frad, who didn't look back.

"We barely know you, why should we tell you?" It sounded more of a statement than a question coming from Frad.

"Come on, you already know me. I'm Beatrix, Sezia right hand man, I'm good at hearing, I'm good at running away no matter how difficult the situation is. I can also dash into any situation no matter how difficult it is." She said, "Now how bout you two? Come on, tell me!"

"We are both teachers from our home city." Dav said, "That's all."

Beatrix pouted, "Nah come on, that's not all.. how did you two meet? I'm sure both your parents probably are against this relationship, eh?"

"Nope." Dav shook his head, "We lost contact with our parents when we met each other."

Beatrix didn't ask further, and caught up to Sezia.

"Mark me." She heard what Sezia said when she caught up.

"That sounds hot when you-." Seiza punched her face before she could finish.

"Mark my bag then damn it." She said, as Beatrix chuckled.

"Man still can't take this kind of joke." Beatrix placed a mark on Sezia's bag, "So where's the enemy?"

"You've noticed the three at the back?" Sezia glanced and saw Beatrix nodding, "Protect them. I've no idea why, but something very dangerous is surrounding them." She explained, "I'm not sure if it's just the place, or someone attacking. But I need you to escape with them if something happens. Can you sense your other safe house markings?"

"Yep, I still haven't lost connection to those." Beatrix started slowing down.

"Return back to me if your life is in danger." She heard Sezia's order, and gave a thumbs up.

Beatrix looked at Reginald who tripped countless times again.

She glanced and saw River walking along with Kate and Dealla not far from them, and Frad with Dav only a few metres away. Then she glanced at the front where she could no longer see Sezia's back. Her grip tightened around her bag strip.
