In a prison cell, Wirt was sitting down while leaning against the wall. However, his cloak left sleeve was gone, like it was cut apart.
"Say," He looked up at the ceiling, "Did you see any animals during this winter?"
'I feel I'm going crazy..' Lux didn't reply yet again and just let Wirt rumble on.
"Do you know why so?" Wirt was used to this for the past few days, his head lowered as his hair covered his eyes, a wide smirk formed, "Because this is the time when the barrier separating our world is the thinnest."
"Wirt, why are you even here?" She asked, feeling like she would rather be alone than with him.
He chuckled, "I don't want to be covered by dust, and there's nothing interesting to do."
"I can name things for you to do," She got off the bed and stretched her body, "Go study."
"Your title has been stripped off. Why are you telling me to study?" He laughed.
"Fine, if you are able to pass my test. I will do whatever deal you want." She turned and looked at him, "How bout it?" She squatted down to look at him.
He laughed harder, "Who said we are even making a deal? I just wish to have a powerful ally."
"I'm sure Ignatius is more powerful than me to be your ally." Her brows frowned, "There's no point in making me an ally."
"I have my reasons for choosing you, think of it as being a chosen one, eh?" He smirked, which caused her to frown more.
"Chosen by a demon?" She slowly stood up and walked over to the other end of the cell, "That can never be good." She slowly sat down, one knee up while she rested her arm on that knee.
Boom.
The sound of a door opening echoed throughout outside the cell. Soon, footsteps reverberated and got closer. Lux glanced and saw a guard bringing her meal.
The guard slid the tray under the little gap of the cell.
"I will collect the tray in an hour." The guard left after saying that.
When the door made another boom sound, she looked at the meal.
"Do you know, what's the difference between demons and angels?" Wirt reached out the tray and pulled it towards him. He glanced and saw Lux had no intention of answering again. He softly chuckled.
Pushing the tray towards her, he explained, "Angels can use magic, but demons can't. Many angels are taught to use light magic, because they are ohh so called angels.
For demons? We can only use our bodies to fight. However, there's demons who have unique powers only they can use.
That's the only difference between us. You know the rumours about how angels can't kill?"
Lux took the bowl of plain rice and used her fingers to scoop up to eat as she listened.
"It's a rumour in the end. Angels and demons? We are no different from each other." He stretched his arms and yawned, "Angels and demons in the end are just what humans called us.
So call demons prefer to be called, monsters. I'm not sure about the angel, but they are no different than humans. They just know how to use magic, and they always like making those wings that make them feel special.
Granted, some angels actually have wings not made from magic. But those angels are, at most, mutated humans."
"So, why do you need an ally?" Lux asked while chewing.
"My own reasons, but if you become my ally. I will become yours too." He slowly stood up and through the metal bar, "Right now, you merely only remember bits of your past. The power cast on you is quite strong. But it's nothing in front of me," He glanced at her, "If you become my ally, with a snap of my finger. You can remember who you are."
"How long before this power wears out?" She placed down her bowl.
"Because of the smoke given to you, the duration was increased," He muttered, but it was heard clearly in this enclosed space, "How long have you smoked?"
Lux's eyes widened, remembering who gave her the cigarette.
"They simply wish to chain an untamed beast. But I can break that chain," He walked back in, "So Lux, do you wish to be my ally?"
She lowered her head, considering it more seriously this time.
"Would you rather be the one living in a lie, or the one telling the lie?" He slowly sat down, he stopped smiling, a hand stretched out again.
Lux slowly raised her hand and slapped his hand away.
"There's got to be a reason I'm a chained beast, if it's not to hurt anyone else." She raised her head, locking gaze with Wirt, "Unless you can promise that you will protect this city from any future wars, I won't make any deals with a demon."
Wirt's hand was still in the air, as he simply said, "What a selfless statement." He stood up, "As a show of my respect, I will break a chain for you."
She quickly stood up, "No deal was made!"
He simply smirked, "I lied." He snapped his finger and caused Lux to faint.
He quickly caught her falling body and placed her on the bed.
'You still have a long way to evolve you power.' He thought, as he carried the tray to the small gap underneath the metal bars and placed it there, 'I hope I get to see the peace you envisioned.'
He lowered his head and looked at the hand that was slapped away twice.
= "Are you alright?!" A young girl asked. =
That voice that remained ever so clear.
= "Why did you save me? I'm just a monster." A boy covered in blood asked, he smirked, "Maybe I will kill you after you save me."
"So be it." That answer stunned him, "I don't want to see people suffering."
"It doesn't matter, does it? Everyone dies and has to suffer at some point." He looked as his hand was wrapped up with a piece of cloth.
"I know people have to suffer to feel happiness when it's over. But I don't want them to suffer unnecessarily." She tied the cloth, "I don't know. I just feel angry whenever I see people suffering for no reason, suffering just because others wishes to cause them pain. I hate seeing that."
"Don't you find that thinking, naive?" He looked at her, her black pupils reflected his own reflection.
"It doesn't matter, right?" =
Wirt turned to look at Lux, 'If I didn't have that naive thinking, you probably won't have suffered so much.'
