Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Assassins Mission

Two months have passed since training with my sister started. The training is just as brutal as it originally was. My face is beaten to a bloody pulp, my fingers are cracked, and my lips are cut. But the training has been effective. My control of my cursed technique has rapidly improved.

I'm currently sitting on a rocky pillar I made using my technique. My body is finally becoming more defined. Even though I'm still so young. My muscle volume is increasing. From the training and the fact that my sister increased the portion sizes of food she gave me.

I'm starting to get used to using my cursed weapon. Instead of using my entire hand, I now use my fingers, wrapping the string around each finger.

But still, I'm not a master at using that cursed weapon. I twitch my fingers observing the thin strings wrapped around my fingers gracefully move with each finger twitch. My sister is meant to meet me today. Apparently, the training is going to be different today.

Which should be a good thing. I doubt training can get much worse than this. I think to myself until I hear the sound of quiet footsteps approaching me. I glance over at the noise and see my sister walking towards me holding onto a folded-up cloak with a black wooden mask on top of the cloak.

" Hello, little brother. I have good news. We won't be training together today instead. You'll complete a mission for the Zenin clan. Don't worry it's nothing too difficult, we just need you to assassinate some average humans that owe us money. "

My sister says handing over the cloak. I grab onto the black cloak and mask. Before glancing up at my sister.

" Inside the right pocket of that cloak, on that note, there will be a listing of the number of people you need to kill, their names, addresses, and their ID. Please don't reveal your true identity and wear that mask at all times. You have a week to complete this mission. "

She takes a deep breath before continuing to speak.

" Please leave no evidence of the murders. We do not want sorcerers to be able to track the killings back to us Zenin's. You can use any means to complete the mission, just don't cause massive property damage or you will pay for the damages. "

It sounds like my sister is reading off a script. She must have been ordered to tell me this. I nod my head at her and put on the black mask before sliding on the cloak.

The cloak is oversized, but it will be perfect for hiding my cursed weapon. I watch as my sister smirks before talking again.

" You will need to figure out the assassin nickname you're going to call yourself. My assassin's name is Null. You can choose your assassin nickname after you finish killing the people on the note. "

An assassin nickname? I'm going to have to figure that out later. I watch as my sister starts to walk away from me without saying goodbye.

I quickly follow my sister and leave the cellar. I notice that the sun is starting to set. It's around 7 pm. The sky is orange and pretty but I'll blend in perfectly in the dark. My sister has disappeared. She most likely went back to the Zenin residence.

I reach into the cloak's pocket and pull out the note. I unfold the note and start reading. They want me to kill five people, three women, and two men. Luckily they all live in Kyoto. So I am in Japan.

I start walking down the path inside the forest. I need to find a library to look up these addresses. I have a week. I don't want to rush and kill all the victims on the first day. And I doubt they are just regular humans like my sister said.

I'm sure they're going to be able to fight. In some type of way. There are five targets meaning I can kill a single victim each day. I walk out of the forest and stare at a sign that says Kyoto with an arrow pointing to the left.

I started walking left heading toward Kyoto. My cursed weapon is wrapped around my forearm. Hidden inside the cloak. Nighttime is rapidly approaching so let's hope I can find a library relatively quickly...
