Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Catching A Monk's Attention

Two months have passed once again and finally, a year has passed. Mute could be seen standing directly in front of his sister in the cellar hallway. Both of them had their fingers crossed as cursed energy leaked off their bodies...

During my final two months of training with my sister, I learned a lot. She taught me about the grading system about how powerful a sorcerer is, first grade, second grade, etc.

She also taught me what a cursed spirit was and how they form but I'm currently sweating bullets trying to master something called a simple domain.

" Brat, remember to stay focused and concentrate your cursed energy. This is one of the few ways to survive a domain expansion. "

My sister says to me as I cast a simple domain. A barrier forms around me. A simple domain counters a domain expansion effect.

Apparently, domain expansion is something only the strongest sorcerers can do. This is the final day of the training so the training has been extra difficult. We kept on training until in the blink of an eye, 24 hours passed.

I stand in front of my sister holding onto my knees, breathing heavily. My body is drenched in sweat. I haven't slept for a day. She is trying to engrain what a simple domain is in my mind. My sister stares at me before smirking.

" Well done, you have finished the final day of your training. I have a phone that is linked to your bank account and the black market. I'll give it to you soon. "

Says my sister. My eyes widened before I realized that a year had truly passed. The grin on my sister's face grows wider as she stares at my shocked face.

" Yup, you're free to go. I will no longer bother you. But feel free to pay me a visit anytime. I know I'm your favorite person, little brother. "

She says. I nod my head at her as I walk past her heading towards the cellar exit. I can see light pouring into the cellar from the bright sun outside. I squint as I walk into the bright sun before I exit the cellar and breathe in a breath of fresh air. The wind blows my black hair, as a happy grin appears on my face...

Two weeks later. I could be seen sitting on a park bench with a phone in my hand. I'm scrolling through the black market. I have hundreds of requests for assassinations. The majority of requests are petty. They are asking me to kill an ex-lover or their current husband.

I keep scrolling bored until a request catches my eye. It's a request to assassinate a politician in Tokyo located in a skyscraper. The pay for this assassination is high. It'll take three hours to reach Tokyo using the subway system.

This request is the best one to do. I press a button and accept the request. I start walking towards the subway system. After walking thirty minutes and paying the toll, I get on the train and head towards Tokyo...

Five hours ago before Mute saw the assassination request. A man with long black hair wearing a monk robe could be seen sitting in the middle of a forest with two young girls standing next to him, brushing his hair.

It was Geto. He was currently scrolling through a phone looking at the black market. He looked at the black market until a name caught his attention.

" The assassin Mute. He's never failed a request, and no one knows his abilities. How interesting.

Said Geto rubbing with a pleased grin on his face. Nanako and Mimiko looked at Geto with their confused little faces. Before Nanako asked a question.

" You already have many assassins at your disposal. Why do you need to hire a new one? "

Geto smirks at the question before letting go of his chin and dropping his hand to his waist.

" Assassins are like worker ants. And think of us as the queen Ant. Does that answer your question?

Nanako's face turned confused and flushed. She didn't understand what Master Geto said at all. Bullets of sweat started to roll down her forehead until Mimiko suddenly spoke answering the riddle.

" Assassins usually die young like worker ants but while they are alive, they do their hardest to serve the queen ant who lives for years. "

A pleased look appears on Geto's face before he taps Mimiko with two fingers while saying.

" Bingo "...

Back in the present three hours have passed since Mute boarded the train heading towards Tokyo. He's silently sprinting up a concrete stairwell. A plethora of sliced cameras could be seen. His cloak flows in the air as he runs up the stairwell before reaching floor 98.

He stops on a dime and walks towards the door. He slowly pushes the door. The door silently swings open as a massive room with a single desk and hundreds of file cabinets comes into Mute's vision.

The desk is directly in front of a massive window. A winkly bald old man could be seen sitting on a rolling chair staring out of the window with hundreds of thoughts running through his mind. Unbeknownst to an elderly man a great danger is creeping from behind him.

He continues to stare out of the window until the hair on his back stands up as overwhelming killing intent engulfs his back. His eyes widen as he turns around, yelling out.

" Who's there? "

The elderly man starts sweating profusely. His old heart starts beating rapidly as his eyes scan the room. He looks at the cabinets. He starts lowering his guard seeing no one is there until he sees a sliced camera on the ground. His paranoia skyrockets before he feels something pressing on the right side of his neck.

He glances to his right and sees a cloaked figure pressing the knuckle of his index finger on his jugular. Before he could say something he felt an odd energy enter his body. The energy wrapped around his heart until a sharp pain engulfed his chest. The man's heart ruptured and blood was about to pour out of his mouth until Mute covered his mouth using his small hand.

Blood starts leaking through Mute's fingers the blood dripping down onto the elderly man's legs. Mute pushes the elderly man's head making his head hang off the chair. While he reaches into his cloak pouring out a small blanket.

He enlarges the blanket using his innate technique before wrapping the elderly body in it and shrinking the blanket to the size of a penny crushing the man's body. Mute slips the small blanket into his cloak as he slowly walks out of the room picking up the sliced camera...

A few days later Geto could be seen with a pleased grin on his face. He's lying in a pile of grass with his hands behind his head.

" I'm definitely going to hire that assassin more. The public doesn't even know that the old bastard was killed. They just filed a missing report. "

Says Geto, as he watches Nanako and Mimiko sparring against each other...
