Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: One Sided

Mei Mei glares at Mute. His cloak is covered in blood. His eyes are cold as his shoulders go up and down. He's clearly tired. Mei Mei starts to walk towards Mute with her battle axe resting on her shoulders. She twirls the battle axe using her fingers before she takes a single step and her body flickers.

Mute's eyes widen as she reappears next to him swinging her axe. Mute crosses his arms. The axe swings towards his arms until it slams into a web of string. The string starts to bend before snapping in two.

Mute eyes widen before he sidesteps the axe as it slams into the ground shooting soil up into the air. Mute lunges forward throwing an overhand that Mei Mei slips. Mei Mei smirks grabbing her axe with both hands and swinging it towards Mute.

Mute slides his feet apart while ducking under the swing. Mute spins throwing a kick that slams into Mei Mei's side. Mute tries to yank his leg back but he can't. He notices that the kick didn't land. Mei Mei caught the kick.

Mei Mei tightly grips Mute's leg as she yanks her arm back. Mute left leg slides across the grass before he trips falling onto his back. Mei Mei lets go of his leg and swings her hammer violently down. Mute grunts as he rolls narrowly dodging the attack.

The hammer slams into the ground causing the ground to crack, sending dirt flying up into the air. Mute's eyes track the dirt before he spins on his back kicking the dirt. The dirt increases in size shooting towards Mei Mei.

Dirt covers Mei Mei's eyes. Mei Mei smacks her lips annoyed before wiping her face off using her hand. She clears her vision before noticing that Mute has disappeared. She looks right and sees a massive pillar of stone propelling toward her.

" You've given up on hand-to-hand already? "

Yelled out Mei Mei swinging her hammer down and smashing through the pillar. The broken pillar slams into the ground. Mei Mei looks over at the shattered pillar and sees Mute lunging towards her with his left fist tightly balled.

Mute leaps over the broken pillar. Mei Mei grins watching Mute come towards her, She is about to swing her hammer until Mute suddenly opens his left fist and a bright blinding light covers Mei Mei's face, She squints unable to see as a powerful punch slams into her face.

Mei Mei's face is rocked back as she stumbles back. The bright light is still shining. Mei Mei is only able to see Mute's silhouette throwing a kick towards her side. She twists her body guarding her side before the kick suddenly changes direction slamming into Mei Mei's face.

Mei Mei is pushed back as a barrage of attacks slam into her body. A cut forms on her forehead causing blood to leak down her face.

Mute throws a punch but Mei Mei bends her knees and leans to the left slipping the punch. Mute's eyes widen as Mei Mei's arms flicker and her axe slams into his stomach sending him hurling through the air.

Mute's body twirls through the air until he slams into a tree coming to a harsh stop, falling onto bloody grass. Mute quickly stands up, wobbling. The single attack shattered three of his ribs.

In Mute's palm, a large cursed firefly could be seen. He enlarged the firefly using it to blind Mei Mei. Mute stares at Mei Mei before crushing the firefly in his hand.

" I think playtime is over. You have been using your cursed technique this entire time. It's only fair if I use mine."

Says Mei Mei, as crows appear out of thin air. The crows hurl through the air before slamming into Mute's body forming small holes. Mute drops to his knees, as hundreds of thoughts run through his head...

I can't see them. She forms crows but I can't track their movements with my naked eyes. The woman in front of me is stronger, faster, and even more skilled. She has every advantage in the book. Except for one, she doesn't know that Geto isn't here. I only need to survive the 30-minute time limit and then I can flee.

I watch as crows form out of the woman's body. I quickly twitch my fingers creating a web of string in front of me. The crows flicker through my vision before reappearing sliced into pieces after slamming through the razor-sharp web of strings.

I take a deep breath before placing my hand on the ground and shooting out a massive pillar of dirt at the woman. She smirks before casually smacking the pillar of dirt destroying it. I gingerly stand back up while surrounding myself with string.

Even if I can't see the crows. If a barrier of string is formed around me. They won't be able to reach me. I have to fend off the crows, while I make sure to keep my distance away from her...
