Chapter 32 - Chapter 31: Impending doom

An entire day had passed and a group of people were currently gathering at a place of high authority, The GRE meeting room.

People of high strength gathered up at a long round table as many other similar-strength people enter the room to seat down among the rest.

" Sir Griza, it's nice seeing you again " A tough yet pretty and feminine-looking woman greeted the old principal as he entered the room with his assistants.

" Hah! Your face is saying otherwise, Miss Alexa. " He replies as he scoffed at the young woman showing their rough yet clearly great personality with their facade completely down.

" An old man is two ranks higher than me when I could bash his head in on the ground with ease. Of course, I'll be pissed. " Alexa smirks at Griza who walked towards one of the empty seats of the room.

" Now now... Let's stop fighting and actually focus on the matter at hand. " A young slim man who looked handsome yet cunning stood at the end of the table, carrying what seems to be some notes.

" So is this everyone? old bastard Griza, cunning bastard Raphael, and me? It seems like only three of us are here this time around. " Alexa placed her feet on the expensive-looking table garnering the concerned look of the others, but no one really spoke out as they seem afraid of her.

" Why? I think three of the strongest people in Terran should be enough for whatever reason you might be calling for us. " Griza who had his arms crossed spoke out.

Alexa: The 11th Sentinel (Combat Sentinel)

Griza: The 9th Sentinel ( Gleam Sentinel )

Raphael: The 5th Sentinel ( Emperor Sentinel )

" Well, the most sentinel I've seen in a single zone is when a Royal bastard shows up, but that's only one more sentinel than what we got here. " Alexa looks at Raphael as if suggesting that he was the only reason why so many Sentinels appeared in the first place.

" Which person is more competent to listen to than this sly bastard and his noncombat ability? " Griza snickers at him too, following Alexa's opinion on the matter.

" Thanks for your compliment, everyone. And I'm sure I won't disappoint you with this news... Well, the graveness of the situation might... " Raphael says with his casual cunning looking smile, but with a hint of nervousness this time.

" Grave enough even for the three of us? " Alexa questions him.

" No... enough for all of humanity. " He says with a calm tone this time around removing the smile on his face.

" ... " Silence filled the room.

" Explain. " Griza says with a serious glare on his face.

" As you all know already, just a few months prior, a new type of Inter was discovered on the coast of Sector 17 which was equivalent to a Grand Inter despite its strength only being around D class relative to the Guardian ranking system. " A hologram appeared in the middle of the table showing what seems to be an incredibly human-like being, raising questions to some of the Sentinel's trusted assistants if a human became an Inter despite knowing the answer already.

" Originals as we call them has the capability to somehow control multiple Inters, plus the fact their intellect was comparable to humans even capable of human speech, they were pretty much a commander in the midst of insanely powerful beasts born for the sole purpose of destruction. " You could feel the grim environment already as the assistants gulp and the Sentinels stare at the hologram with seriousness removing their carefreeness seen just a few moments ago, as everyone starts to form their own theories with the topic.

" Though there had been multiple appearances, apart from their intellect and the ability to control monsters, most of them were weak, with the strongest being the one seen in Sector 17. They were also distinct from humans enough, with their ears being pointed and their eyes being a shade of red coupled with their pure white skin tone, made infiltrating humanity impossible for them. "

" Then? " Griza looks at Raphael as he realized that that was not the entire story.

Raphael raises his hands, pointing a remote control on the hologram they were all facing.

" This was a picture taken a few days ago in the forest beside Sector 21. "

Three humanoids were seen standing around, seemingly talking to each other with a smile on their face.

" This... " Alexa looks at the picture with a grim look on his face.

" They're social? "

A question sends shivers down the people in the room. Beings who were stronger than humans by nature, but were also as smart as them? The reason why humanity strived and succeeded in survival in the first place is because of their ingenuity and wit. Many people would gang up on an Inter stronger than everyone else but they would still emerge victorious due to this one fact.

But suddenly, a group of individuals stronger than humans appeared among everyone with the ability to control the monsters that resulted in the human's struggle for survival in the first place.

A group of individuals that are clearly the enemy of humanity...

Raphael clicked his remote switching to another picture containing dead bodies of what seems to be Guardians.

" These were the B-rank Guardians responsible for taking back Sector 21 the day after the other picture was taken. And you seem to have an idea of who was responsible for it already. "

...

" Is this news true? " Alexa asks Raphael with a grim look on his face.

" I'm afraid so. "

" How. " Griza abruptly asks him, wondering how could that possibly happen when the strongest Originals that were ever found were only B rank. The ones responsible for hunting them were B-rank hunters too, but they had a lot of them. Looking at this image, it seemed like they were the one who didn't have the numbers, as there were no signs of struggle on their body at all.

" Well, as you can see in this picture with the three humanoids... There are only two Originals on this image "

" What do you mean?... " As if the situation couldn't even be worse, Raphael suddenly explains the picture raising the imagination of the others even more.

" The reason why they were able to find the Guardians despite hiding inside a fortress in the wide Sector, is because of a spy. "

" What...."

" They can grant humans power in exchange for loyalty through a unique ability they had. " They are basically the demons from all those fictions about trading their souls for power.

" But that doesn't explain their strength. " Raphael continued further even though the other's expression couldn't be worse enough.

" As you all have guessed already, the Originals are indeed social, capable of forming groups. But yet again that shouldn't be enough to kill all those Guardians I agree. But you seem to forget what happens when those two factors combine. " Raphael says with a casual tone showing the actual graveness of the matter at hand.

!

" There are more?! " Alexa abruptly stands from her seat and hits the table in front of her crushing it to the ground.

" I'm afraid so... A working society with an entire hierarchy at that mind. And the Grand Inters that we know of, are mere weaklings in their group."
