Sam Wilby's continuous phone calls to Rhea had been going on since he broke away from Jason and returned to his formal family home, to reminisce over his parent's memories.
Even though he wasn't calling to give an explanation or an apology to Rhea, but instead, to know whether Kristine returned home safely after their encounter with each other when she boldly confronted him.
Sam wanted to also retrieve an important item from among the content of the envelope he noticed to have gone missing after his encounter with Kristine.
He has been continuously searching for the Pendrive when he remembered Kristine must have taken it.
Even though it's currently just a suspicion.
After all, she has been tailing behind him for a while now so she must have seen when Jsaon handed it to him.
Until now, Sam was still aching from all the kicks and karate skills Kristine demonstrated using him as a punchbag, when she stopped him to interrogate him about what he and Jason did to Rhea.
Their confrontation became heated and infuriated her more when he tried to deny it, and she just continued hitting him, even after all the accusations and insults she had labeled on him.
Even though he had suffered the maximum rate of punches which left him with a splitting headache and an aching body to which he wouldn't want to face Kristine again, but he was desperate to retrieve the Pen drive she took.
"I shouldn't have opened the package in the first place...." Sam muttered distressingly.
What if, unknowingly, this was part of the test Jason told him the Boss will put before him to test him?
If so, then he had failed even before he began.
On top of snooping around to see the content in the envelope, he had also misplaced an important piece from it...The Pendrive!
He wasn't even sure if Kristine whom he was currently accusing of possessing it indeed picked it up.
His worse fear right now was dropping it on the road during his haste to get away from Kristine's torture.
"Or did I leave it in the Motel, in my haste to hide them away from Thea when she entered and caught me unaware?" Sam began to trace his thoughts to where he misplaced the Pen drive.
He didn't know why he forgot about Kristine's fighting skills even after all the tournaments she had won as their senior during their high school days, anytime the A and the B sections clashed in various sports competitions.
****
Before Kristine's car accident;
The chase!
At the stopover at the motel where Sam paused for one of his I-don't-know what reasons, Kristine decided to wait for him outside hoping he would come out to continue on his journey to where ever he was going with the envelope Jason handed to him.
On second thoughts, she alighted from her taxi and made her way into the motel since she already booked a room close to Sam's, all thanks to the guy at the counter.
As Kristine pressed her ears to listen in on whatever was going on in Sam's room, she heard a familiar female voice in the background.
"So Sam had a girlfriend? or was it really his sister as the counter guy informed her." Kristine wondered as she continued to make out what was going on in the opposite room.
Since Motels are mostly not soundproofed, she was just so grateful at this moment since she was currently hearing tidbits of information with her ears attached to the wall.
Even though she missed out on certain gists which she had to make out for herself.
But at the end of the day, her confrontation with Sam was guaranteed.
She was currently itching for all sorts of means to appease her anger on Sam, for deluding her all this time and betraying the trust she had placed in him when she thought he was decent and different from all the guys she has known so far.
"He really made a fool out of me!" Kristine fumed, she just realized how fed up she was now with all this hide and seek.
It's time for action!
Afterall, she had already found out enough to confirm Sam's relationship with Jason, so there was no need to give him the benefit of the doubt now.
On the other hand, when Sam first entered his room and realized his sister... Thea Wilby, was in the shower, he placed the envelope Jason gave him on the small center table in the middle of the room and relaxed on the sofa to wait for her.
Meanwhile, as Sam sat awaiting, flashbacks concerning his meeting with Jason back at the house had him deeply concerned.
As well as the depressed state he left their family driver in, Edmond, who was desperately trying to convince him to give up on his vengeance.
He had finally relieved his mind by confessing everything he had found out so far to Edmond. All thanks to the call their Family lawyer made during their stay at their grandma's house in Textile State after their parent's murder.
Sam vividly remembered that night!
It was the night after their grandma's funeral.
As Sam sat down that night feeling crushed like having the weight of the entire world on his shoulder, and renouncing all hope on life.
As well as a build-up anger piling up within him for losing everything he had ever held dear in merely a month.
Starting from his Parent's death, to his Dad's wealth being usurped and now their grandma too was no more...
Now they have no one else.
That was the moment Anthony Spencer's desperate call came through to give him hope to keep fighting and thrive to retrieve everything he had lost of their parent's wealth and reputation.
"Sam, everything I told you about your dad was never true. I lied out of fear for my life and I am very sorry...Your dad got involved with very bad people and he got killed by them. They usurped all your father's wealth. It was your... then Bang!" a gunshot sound, followed by footsteps and voices...
"Lawyer Anthony, Pleasure to meet your acquaintance. I am sure you don't know me, but believe me, you wouldn't like it if you do...Now be a good boy and tell me what evidence you have of my boss and where you kept it then I will let you live..." The voice Sam heard on the other side was so frightening he didn't even realize he was shaking from nervousness.
"I thought your boss knew me enough to know that I wouldn't keep the evidence here in my home, you are free to search..." Lawyer Anthony didn't sound like he was scared, if not for the shivers from his legs at the gun pointed to his head.
"I am not sure you understand but I am not here to keep you alive, the evidence you talked about will be searched and found, as well as everyone associated with it or having knowledge of it...Goodbye! Then Bang!" A scream escaped Sam's throat at that moment when he heard the second gunshot.
Unluckily for him, it was heard by the shooter who scouted down to pick up the lawyer's phone, then Sam heard another voice in the background.
"He was talking to someone..."
Sam held his breath!
"Now I know where to find the evidence...." The shooter stated.
Sam didn't wait to hear the rest of the shooter's words then another Bang! and his phone dropped to the ground.
That was the last gunshot Sam heard which ended the life of their family lawyer.
Sam became shocked and panicking as he bent down to pick up the phone he dropped to end the call. That was when he heard the frightening voice of the shooter again when he spoke directly to him from the other end.
"I am coming for you! I leave no traces in my deals." The man growled to Sam's horror.
"Search everywhere for that evidence! He was talking to someone just now... find that person. He must have told that person something..." Sam shivered and hurriedly hang up the call after hearing the order the shooter gave to his men.
However, when he confirmed the news of the lawyer's death in the morning news the next day, Sam began to fear for his life and his sister's.
And the icy voice of the shooter's warning tormented him the entire night.
The fear of the murderers tracking him too to finish him off since they might be thinking the lawyer told him some important information frightened Sam.
Therefore, he went around the house and desperately gathered everything valuable he could get his hands on.
Afterall, they have no one now but themselves, then he took his sister and they escaped.
They had been on the run ever since.
Well, until Thea fell sick in one of the Motels he booked and were staying for a month, while he disguised his appearance to work some minor underground jobs for them to get by.
But as Thea's illness worsened, he had nothing to get her treated in the hospital, and the fear of losing her resulted in him joining a small gang for a gun, and hereby thought of theft.
Coincidentally, his first prospect victim was Jason Taylor.
And unfortunately for him, he messed with the wrong person...
Jason followed behind him after he snatched his purse and caught him, so he had no choice but to threaten him with the gun in his hand.
But Unluckily for Sam, Jason seemed more experienced with guns and fought Sam to take the gun.
In the process of their struggle, one of them pulled the trigger and a gunshot sound was heard.
But it was too late, the cops patrolling the area at that time heard the gunshot and got involved, and Sam was arrested and sent to detention.
As an eighteen years kid, Sam thought his life was already over and his sister might die alone in their hideout until Jason helped him, covered for him regarding his case and hereby went scout free.
That was the beginning of his friendship with Jason who helped him and his sister, and even saved them from the Shooter's death threats.
Eventually, he and Jason met again when Sam returned back to school after he mortgaged his grandparents' house to live in a less expensive place to get him and his sister's life back together.
Meanwhile, during their on-the-run chase, Sam changed his sister's name from Thea Wilby to Thea Gremmon, and let her pretend to be his disguised girlfriend.
He didn't want any harm to endanger his sister's life by getting involved with him as his family, incase they were oneday caught by the bad people.
Therefore, Sam had introduced Thea as his girlfriend all this while.
Apart from Jason who knew the truth even before Sam could tell him, which had Sam on alert regarding how he even knew.
Since only he and his grandma knew Thea was his sister since she hadn't been around them most of the time, after going to boarding school the entire time.
He wondered how Jason knew Thea was his sister when he introduced her as his girlfriend the entire time.
He and Thea are like opposites so they don't resemble each other. He takes after their Dad while she took after their mom.
Suddenly, Sam's suspicions regarding Jason started to haunt him, especially when he already had a problem with his trust issues ever since he and his sister had been on the run.
Hence, he began to be a constant stalker in Jason's life during their times in high school when he recalled one of his dad's conversations which he eavesdropped on in his study.
The words Sam heard were....
"That boy you took under your wing...what's his name again? Yeah! Jason. Currently attending Flexton high school. Well, I have an entire background file on that boy, therefore, if anything happens to my family, you wouldn't like what I would do..." Sam heard his Dad's threats to someone on the phone.
But the conversation was cut short when his sister Thea suddenly barged into the study and his Dad hastened to end the call.
At that time, Sam made nothing of what he heard even though he also attended Flexton school when he moved to live with his grandma after refusing to go to boarding school upon his Dad's insistence.
But now that Sam thought about his Dad's words, coupled with his suspicions on how Jason knew Thea was his sister, his doubts began to grow until he began to link Jason's relation to his parent's murderers.
After first, as the conversation went, Sam thought Jason was his Dad's bastard son whom he was sponsoring through school.
That was what triggered his stalking on Jason which got to the point of saving Rhea from his evil intentions on their Prom day. All in his aim to find out how Jason was connected to his parents, but it turns out Jason was indeed connected to his parent's murderers afterall.
That was when Sam's thirst for vengeance began brewing its branches until today.
It was also the main reason why he had been inseparable from Jason ever since.
All in the hopes of finally meeting the face behind his parent's brutal murder.
Well, the end to his patience was finally here.
Finally, he was about to meet that man in two hours with this envelope Jason handed him a while ago.
