As the flashbacks and the near end to all his resentments and vengeance seem to be drawing closer to a fruitful end, concerning Sam's face-to-face meeting with his parent's murderer.
The same person who usurped his parent's wealth, leaving him and his sister in this miserable poor state all these years.
Sam was beginning to get anxious as he sat on the couch waiting for his sister Thea to come out of the shower.
Once again, his mind was drawn to the envelope before him.
"Should he open it to see what was inside or keep it intact until he faced Jason's boss and hand it to him?" Sam battles between his curiosity and patience stressed him as he stared at the package before him.
It seems he still can't come to terms with his impatience to finally meet the face behind his parent's cold-blooded murderer.
The true Mastermind behind the scenes of the entire incident resulting to all his hardships and trauma all these years.
Ray Valdez alias Richard Wilson.
This was the name behind that faceless man he was about to meet in two hours.
Jason had told him almost everything he needed to know about his boss the moment he agreed to his offer to work for him.
Finally, everything was now beginning to fall into place after all the years of tolerance he exerted when he embarked on the journey to face his greatest tormentor...Ray Valdez.
Sam sat upright on the couch as the thoughts of that man run inside his head, then his hand clutched into a fist, suddenly fuming in anger.
"The Boss wants to meet you. Just take it like an interview before the real job because he would surely test you first..." These were Jason's exact words a moment ago when he handed him that package.
"Test huh! Well, let's see who would laugh last!" Sam's anger multiplied.
Moreover, he thought he would meet that man together with Jason but it seemed that man has a death wish by his order to meet him alone.
While Jason continued with the task at hand, concerning The CEO of White Entertainment, Todd Carter's case.
Well, until Todd handed over the original ownership documents of the CCF foundation to the Boss, Jason was ordered a twenty-four hours surveillance on Todd's son, Tom Carter at the hospital.
Ray Valdez wanted to be updated on Tom's condition too.
"Hand this over to the Boss when you meet him." Sam only nodded in reply to Jason when he was handed this brown package.
Meanwhile, as he stared at the envelope, his curiosity got poked once again to see the content inside the envelope.
Despite all the odds, Sam gave into his curiosity and moved to open the envelope after much contemplation.
It opened to reveal strange documents and photos concerning a detailed investigation carried out on everyone connected to the famous Superstar...Eric Kurt!
Starting with Jeffrey Roland his manager whose picture was also attached to his file, then proceeding to the housekeeper named Mandy Lee with her file too, and finally, the female top actress Sofia Pentson, whom Sam saw for the first time in real life at Eric's get together he went with Jason.
Well, It's an investigation of almost Eric's entire staff. Some of them Sam knew while others he didn't, but there were all in that envelope.
Even though Sam was beginning to wonder why Jason will entrust him with these to be handed to the Boss but he couldn't help but wonder about one thing.
"Was Jason the one who carried out all these investigations by himself? If so, then he had really underestimated him." Sam mumbled inaudibly as his mind was plagued with all these thoughts.
After briefly glancing through the files of the familiar faces in the files, Sam lifted the envelope and felt something beneath it.
He stuck his hand inside, to reveal a hard disk and a USB flash drive.
"And what could be the contents in these? Could it be CCTV footages of some sort?" He whispered to himself.
Sam reached out for his laptop to inspect the hard disk to view its contents when suddenly, he was interrupted by his sister coming out of the bathroom.
Sam quickly gathered the files and place them back inside the envelope in a hurry to prevent his sister from seeing them.
He then hid the envelope underneath the couch he was seated on before the charming face of his sister came into view.
Even though Sam was thinking of organizing it later and also replacing the envelope with a new one to avoid getting caught or suspected of snooping around.
"You are back! I thought it was a three nights camping...Why are you back so soon? Did something happen?" Thea asked her brother when she saw him on the couch.
Thea Wilby, a short-haired feeble looking young girl who joined Flexton high school in its last semester. She became Rhea's close friend ever since they met each other during one of their High school sports clashes between their section B and Section A grades.
Even though, to this day, nobody including Rhea has any idea about her being Sam's sister, since that aspect of Thea's life was hidden when she joined High school as Thea Gremmon instead of Thea Wilby.
"Why are you quiet? What happened?" Thea abruptly took her seat next to her brother on the couch and waited for his reply.
"It didn't happen... Let's just say it got canceled when we heard about Tom Carter's accident." Sam answered matter of factly.
But as he lifted his gaze to meet the horror look on his sister's face, Sam regretted what he said immediately.
His sister had long developed an undying crush on Tom the very first time she met him, but since she was with him in Grade B while Tom was in Grade A, Thea only sees her crush during their war clashes and combined celebrations.
"What!? Tom had an accident? when?" The fear in Thea's voice didn't escape Sam.
"I am sorry Thea, I thought you saw it on the news." Sam apologized, quite concerned about his sister's reaction.
"You were the one who stopped me from going for the camping trip and kept me here all this time. The least you could do was to call me and inform me about the news personally." Thea paused to take a few breaths since she was asthmatic.
"Sam, I know you have not been honest with me all this time. Starting from hiding the fact that we were siblings from the world. Till date, I have not spoken or asked any questions about it since you said our lives were in danger. I even had to lie to Rhea my best friend all this time just because you told me to, but this is the last straw. You better tell me what's going on from the beginning, or I go out there and stop hiding like a wanted murderer." Thea's yelling made Sam's head go blank. He stood up in frustration at his sister's sudden tantrums, even though his reactions suddenly changed into concern as he notice Thea taking calm breaths to stop her anger from rising beyond her control.
"What has not telling you about Tom's accident have to do with everything? And what is Rhea's name suddenly doing amidst all these.?" Sam asked calmly but being reminded of Rhea turned his tone harsh.
It seemed he was somehow affected by his situation with Rhea, and moreover, not being able to come up with a reasonable explanation for doing what he did to her still bothered him and he didn't know why.
Sam paced back and forth, trying to force a calmness within him.
This was not the time to grow emotional so he tried to approach the matters relating to his sister calmly, but Thea interrupted before he could form a word...
"I don't know why but I have always felt guilty whenever it comes to Rhea. Do you think I don't know what's been going on? I am not blind for God's sake." Thea stood up to join Sam where he was standing.
Meanwhile, Thea's last sentence froze Sam in place.
"She knew? how?" These were thoughts running inside Sam's mind.
"What do you mean by that, Thea...tell me!" This time around, Sam spoke calmly.
Unfortunately, he had to wait a long time for Thea's answer but none came.
Sam moved to close the distance between them, still waiting for an answer. And then came Thea's longstanding reply...
"Not until you tell me what's been going on. Sam, I am no longer a child. I am a grown woman now so I can handle anything, just tell me. I really want to understand you but you are not making things any easier." This time Thea spoke with frustration as she stared at her brother for an explanation.
"All this time Sam, I couldn't even be myself. Starting from my sudden transfer to Flexton High School, you meeting Jason, and I just found out that you have been dating Rhea, which you never told me about." Thea noticed the surprised expression on Sam's face but she continued...
"Yes! I and Rhea have been in touch recently. You did everything to stop me from reaching her after our Prom night, but I am sorry! I have known about both of you dating and was waiting for you to tell me yourself. Well, I have waited long enough and It's been three years." Thea finally paused to take a few breaths.
And this revelation suddenly got Sam's attention about his reasons for keeping his sister in the dark about everything they have both been through, after the awful demise that happened to their parents and placed them on the run.
He finally decided to tell his sister everything.
And she was right! She was a grown woman now and knew how to take care of herself and not let her sickness overtake her.
Sam held Thea's hand and led her back to their seat before he began to relate the story about everything that happened on the day of their parent's murder.
"The night Mom and Dad died I was at home and I saw them get shot!." Sam finally confessed.
"What? But you told the police you didn't see anything." Thea exclaimed.
"I know. But I didn't see the killer's face and I have been listening in on Dad's phone call so I knew he was involved with some bad people. That's why I didn't say anything...I was scared they might kill you and me too. But I later confessed to the police about that so the murderer would pay for his crimes but they didn't believe me, and there was no evidence to buck my claims." The tension in the small room became unbearable as Thea began to process everything Sam was telling her.
"So that was the reason why you decided we should leave for grandma's house in Textile State after the burial?" Thea finally found her voice.
"That too...But I wanted to track down our parents killer's myself and the only link I had was Jason Taylor." Sam uttered as he held tightly unto Thea's hand in comfort.
"How is Jason linked to us at that time?.." Thea ponders on this sudden discovery.
***
That faithful night, before Trent Wilby's death, Sam entered his Dad's study to get a few bucks from his Dad's desk after his dad blocked his credit card due to mindless expenditure on video games.
But unluckily for him, his Dad entered at that moment so he hid behind the shelves.
Sam watched as his dad took his seat behind his desk before his phone suddenly rang and he picked it up.
"What?! Tycoon had a son?" Trent spoke into his phone.
"The Underworld is going to get bloody. I am guessing everyone will be busy tracking that son to repay Tycoon's debts so we have to find him first." Sam heard his Dad say.
Then there was a pause as the caller from the other end of the line spoke, but since Sam couldn't hear from that side he just held his breath for what his dad was about to say next.
"What? you found him already...how? Since when have you known this news?" Trent spoke after a while.
"Give me his detailed information, I need to confirm it myself." Trent jotted something down in his notepad before he later ended the call.
Trent Wilby sighed and relaxed into his chair, rolling the pen in his hand as he delved deeper in thought.
He stood up after a while and left his study room in a hurry.
Sam exited from his hiding spot and went towards his Dad's desk in search of his dad's notepad when he saw a boldly written name on it.
Jason Taylor...Flexton High School, Textile State. Blue Moon Orphanage.
Out of a dying curiosity, Sam began to open his dad's notepad to glance through every page.
Sam snooped and gathered all the information his dad jotted inside his journal.
Shipping dates and various transactions were written in detail on most parts of the recorded journal which raised Sam's concern at that moment.
After snooping around his Dad's study for God knows how long, Sam heard noises coming downstairs so he followed the path to the voices to peek at what was going on.
But the first sight he met before him was his Mom shot dead in the head lying on the floor in the pool of her blood while his Dad was held firmly to his knees by two strong men.
Sam hid in fear and held his breath to avoid getting spotted, then he heard a Boss-like voice speak.
"You thought I wouldn't find out about your betrayal Trent. So you were a spy all along. Since when did it start? Who are you working for...who amongst my enemies bought you out?!" The voice was deadlier than the gun held to his Dad's head.
Sam tried to get a peeked at any face for recognition but from where he was hiding that seemed impossible, and any least mistake will get him spotted and maybe killed on the spot, so he maintained his position to simply listen in.
"You don't expect me to talk after killing my wife.. did you?" Sam heard his dad chuckle.
"I would rather you finish me too!" Trent spat in contempt as he fought to break free from the guys holding him but he got hit hard in the stomach instead, and he groaned in pain.
Sam held his hand to his mouth to stop his cries from being heard.
"You tell me now or I would finish off your kids too. Where are they? Still in bed, I suppose." The scary man turned to order one of his men.
"Go search for the kids and bring them to me."
"No! Not my kids...please!!!" Sam heard his dad beg for the first time.
"Speak and I promise you, no harm will come to your kids after I finish you off."
Upon hearing the Man's words about them, Sam didn't wait to hear his dad's confession. He rushed to his sister's room to save her.
Sam dragged his sleepyhead sister who was barely awake towards their secret hideout to the nearest exit.
He and Thea escaped that night through the underground shortcut where they had both played hide and seek since they were kids.
Any stranger wouldn't know there was a door underneath the carpet due to how it was crafted.
The only place Sam could take his sister for protection was their driver's house, Edmond. But Edmond wasn't at home since he was at the hospital attending to his sick wife.
So Sam hid there the entire time with his sister.
Then suddenly it was morning, he woke up startled by the cries of an ambulance and the police cars everywhere.
That was when he knew his family's driver was the first to discover his parent's bodies and called the cops after searching for them and didn't see them.
It was also when Sam's happy-go-lucky life completely changed in a blink of an eye for the worse.
Until today, he had never told his sister about any of this due to her health condition, but he was glad he was able to tell her everything now.
And Sam watched heartbroken as the never-ending tears from Thea's eyes flew across her cheeks and she broke down to the ground.
It was like all the pain of their parent's death resurfaced after his confession.
Moreover, he wasn't done yet but he chose to hide his vengeance plans from her.
Meanwhile, as Sam was relating all these to his sister, an eavesdropper in the opposite room heard tidbits of that information and exclaimed.
"Thea Gremmon was Sam's sister?! Oh no! Another aspect of his life Sam hid from her and Rhea". Kristine mumbled to herself.
