Aramis and Aurnia were holding hands as they strolled along the pebbled pavement towards a nearby village. The kingdom's officer assigned to watch over the princess stalled behind them with a passive expression; even so, he was caught smiling occasionally each time the two would start bantering like five-year-old kids.
The princess appeared calm on the surface, but in reality, her heart was pounding hard against her ribcage. In fact, she could hear her erratic heartbeat through her ears. She couldn't believe that a mere touch from his hand would cause her heart and mind to be in such total disarray.
"So, how were you feeling, your Highness? Enjoying it so far?"
With the current state of her mind, she wasn't able to follow his words properly. She glared at him with widening eyes and forcefully pulled her hand away from his clutch. "Who told you I was enjoying holding hands with you?" She answered him in a frantic voice, backing a few inches away from him.
