Chapter 19 - Burnt palm

While chatting with Kyla, Raena began thinking about her familiar and was aware that even though she wanted to develop a close bond with the creature, she couldn't put it in a dangerous situation because it wasn't as powerful as some of the others.

When they had finished eating and packing up their things, they heard a commotion coming from outside and jumped up from their seats, rushing out of the cafeteria with their belongings to see what was going on.

"What's going on?" Kyla asked when they saw the one who was giving the speech on the opening, Astrun right hand lit up in flame.

"What is he up to?" Raena inquired as the person in front of him began to tremble.

"I will kill you," Astrun said as his eyes glowed orange, and Raena gasped as he suddenly released the ball of fire, and everyone gasped as Raena rushed before the fire and his eyes shook when her hair blew up and her eyes glowed orange as the ball spun in the palm of her right hand burning it, and Kyla smiled as Raena hit the ball up in the air and it exploded with small droplets of fire falling to the ground.

"S- She caught my fireball?" How? "It's too hot for normal demons to hold," Astrun muttered as Rane gripped her hand and gnashed her teeth before turning to face the person behind her.

"What do you think you are doing?" A black-haired girl asked as she approached them and the one before Astrun moved beside her.

"You should ask your boy there what he was doing," Astrun responded.

"He did nothing wrong, you are the one bullying him, demon," The girl said and that's when Raena realized she was one with celestial bloodline and Raena sighed.

"I will report you to the council," The girl shouted and Astrun chuckled.

"Do as you please, you people are no different, he is the one that started it, knowing that he is no match for me; also, white-haired, get your hands looked after," Astrun said as he looked at Raena, who sighed.

'His fire is too hot for a normal demon; how powerful is he?' Raena wondered when she noticed he was not wearing a ranking badge.

"You-" The girl said as her eyes glowed blue while approaching Astrun and Raena stood before him.

"Raena," Kyla said.

"I suggest you don't cause more trouble, leave this alone, besides it appears to me that your friend was wrong, don't look down on others because they are different species," Raena said as she stared directly at the girl, and Asturn smirked.

"Who do you think you are talking to? Oh? You are the newbie with the freakish white hair, I suggest you stay out of this," She replied and Raena sighed.

"Fine, snap at him; he's more powerful than you, just so you know, so let's see who wins," Raena said as she stepped aside.

"You should back off, it won't take me two seconds to show you how weak you are, celestial bloodline or not doesn't make you superior sweetheart," Astrun said, leaning in closer to the girl, and her eyes began to tremble as his glowed bright orange.

"Whatever happens, you'll get what you deserve," She replied before leaving with her friend then everyone dispersed and Kyla went to Raena.

"Are you all right?" Kyla inquired, her gaze fixed on Raena's palm.

"It's fine, I'll be fine," She replied and Kyla smiled.

"Hey," Astrun said as he approached them and they glanced at him.

He sighed as they replied, "Hey."

"The Hisnal herb will help, don't wait too long before using it or it will not be good for your skin," Astrun said and Raena smiled.

"Thank you; I'll use that," She said.

"I didn't expect you to jump in the way, you're brave, white hair," He said as she sighed, then he left and she looked at Kyla, who was nervously smiling.

"At least he told you which herb to use on the burn, it's time you go home and take care of it, we don't want anything happening to your hand, he is strong I can tell because I have heard a lot about his family, Raena," Kyla said.

"So he comes from a noble and powerful family?" Raena inquired.

"Yes, his family is more than powerful; their fire is one of the strongest," She replied and Raena sighed.

"This place is interesting; I think I actually want to..." Kyla looked at her and smiled as she mumbled.

"Hey, go take care of your hands, I'll see you tomorrow," Kyla said, and Raena smiled.

"See you tomorrow, Kyla," She replied then Kyla left and Raena closed her eyes.

"Drakun," She called out before reopening her eyes and he appeared before her, causing her to jump.

"I apologize for startling you, good afternoon," He said.

"Good afternoon, it's fine," She replied as she moved her hand behind her and he smiled.

"Shall we go?" He asked.

"Sure," She responded before they both vanished and reappeared at her usual spot in the mansion, where she noticed Akaz appeared beside them at the same time.

"Good afternoon," She said.

"Good afternoon, kid," He replied, his eyes narrowing as he noticed her moving her hand behind her back.

"Raena," Akaz said as he approached her, and she backed up a little as Drakun grabbed her arm.

"Ouch," She said, and he took her arm, leaving them both staring at her burnt palm.

"Who burned your hand?" Akaz inquired, his eyes glowing blue, and she smiled nervously.

"I got caught up in a fight and meaning intervened, I wanted to stop it; it was an accident," She replied and he sighed and his eyes returned to normal before grabbing her hand and inspecting the burn.

"Who exactly made you of all people get burned?" He asked.

"Astrun, like I said..." She responded and Akaz smiled and then patted her on the head.

"It's fine, I heard you, Drakun, take her into the city, get her the herbs," Akaz said and Drakun smiled.

"Go change, we'll leave after," Drakun said, and Raena went to her room to change then Akaz sighed before looking at Drakun who stared at him, wondering what he was thinking.
