Chapter 16 - Duel (part 1)

" Did you hear, he is Lady Sierra's lover."

" Apparently his name is Damien."

"He kind of looks like he is really weak, don't you think so?"

" He is a lower-rank demon what do you expect from him?"

Damien could hear the buzzing going around him, it was clear that everyone's attention was now on him. He dragged his hands over his face before raising his head to look at Sierra who was still standing on the podium with a shy face as she took out her Demi phone and all of a sudden, a bad premonition rose in his heart.

' Don't do it, Don't do it!' He shouted in his head but maybe now that he was in the demon world, he was a lot farther than he was from God. His pleas were unheard, not that the guy up above the sky ever heard him but now it was simply impossible for him to hear what Damien was saying to him.

He watched as Sierra tapped on her Demi phone and then to his horror the picture that the two of them clicked was displayed all over the auditorium causing Damien to slide down in his seat, his forehead burning with embarrassment.

" This is my boyfriend, he too is entering the academy with everyone. He is a really nice demon that is why you all make sure to get along with him! Don't target him !"

'The heck she is talking about? Now he was going to be on the hitting list all right,' Damien slumped on his seat as he covered his face with one hand. Feeling several murderous glints being targeted at the back of his head, yeah, he chuckled. He was going to be killed all right.

" Now we will request the freshman representative to come up the stage and make his speech."

Fortunately, the announcement came at the right time, Damien felt everyone's attention turn away from him as they all turned to Abaddon who got up from his seat and made his way towards the stage. His popularity could be seen from just the fact that every single set of eyes in the auditorium was turned to him.

Damien's would have been too if not for Abaddon going up the stage and glaring at him as soon as he climbed up the small platform.

' Darn that bastard, how long is he going to glare like that?' Damien thought as Abaddon turned his head to the floating microphone that was in the shape of a bat with demon horns carved on top of it.

" I, Abaddon Bell, the representative of the freshmen assure everyone that as long as you have enough evil in your body, you can always become the most fearful demon in the human realm. With our powers that surpass those puny humans, we deserve to rule over them! Corrupting the morals of humans is our goal! And with our powers we will surely fulfil it but…" he slowly turned to look at Damien, his lips curling in disdain showing his fangs. " There is always trash who do not deserve to be in this world and this academy. As the freshmen representative, I will subdue that trash and kick them out of the academy for they do not deserve to be in the same place as us!"

His speech got a tumultuous applause, many demons joined hands as they clapped for Abaddon but Damien remained sitting with a troubled expression on his face. That was a warning for him, no it would be better to say that it was an outright threat damn it!

….

" Damn, I need to have a word with my dear girlfriend!" Damien snarled as soon as he came out of the auditorium room. He could still feel the gazes of some demons locked on his back as he walked towards the reception hall that was next to the auditorium when he suddenly felt his earring burn.

His eyes widened as he raised his head to see at least a total of five to six fireballs heading his way. Stunned, he twisted on his feet and then felt his body move on its own, before the fireballs could land on his body, his body curved and then he was supporting the entire weight of his hands and then he pushed his body back on his feet and back to his hands as he dodged the six fireballs that were aimed at him.

By the time he dodged the last one, a crowd has already gathered around him, when he pushed himself off his hands and straightened up on his feet, Damien glared at the man who was standing in front of him.

" What the fck is wrong with you? Someone could have died!" Damien shouted at Abaddon who was standing a few feet away from him, his hand holding a rolling fireball as he flicked it in the air Damien's pupils glowed with the amber hue as the fire curved in the air and wrote the name, " Abaddon Bell."

" I am the second master of the Bell family," said the demon as if Damien didn't hear his name when he introduced himself in the entrance ceremony. He placed his hand on his chest and then walked towards Damien, the closer he got the more the temperature around Damien rose. When Abaddon came to stand in front of him, Damien swore that he felt a blaze hit him straight in the face.

" The freshmen representative, the two times winner of the demonic beast hunt, a perfectionist and the most desirable demon in this world," he continued, his eyes glowing a dangerous red as he looked at Damien. " Strictly speaking I am the perfect match for lady Sierra, given that our powers, family, status everything matches perfectly. I do not care who you are or from which hole you crawled out, if you do not want to die a painful death then you better tighten those pants of yours and get lost! I will pretend as if I have never seen you here."

With that Abaddon tugged on his shirt and then turned around to leave, he thought that the matter ended then and there but then ——

" What if I do not want to get lost? What are you going to do ?"
