Damien was stunned, the overlord of the demon world was killed? How? And more importantly, how did it concern him?
He looked at the black book that was sitting on the table and then raised his head to look at Sierra who was standing in front of him, waiting for him to speak. " Okay, the demon lord was killed … so how is this going to help me?"
Forgive him for not being able to bring enough sympathy for the demon overlord given that he was on the verge of getting killed if he don't understand what was going on here.
He expected that Sierra was going to be offended by the lack of sensitivity from his side but instead she walked towards him and curled her arm around his as she leaned her head on his shoulder and gushed," This is why I like you. You are always so blunt and don't waste your time with unnecessary things."
Yeah right.
Damien pushed Sierra away from him and said, "It's all well and good but can we focus on the main thing here? Like how I can survive the upcoming hunt and why I need to hunt anyway."
" This is how the demons who have admitted themselves in the academy are distributed in their sections," Sierra replied with a soft giggle as if she was talking about some cute little puppy. " By catching the biggest kill the strength of a demon is measured and they are given a rank. Each rank determines which section they will be taken into, this is why the hunt is important because if you fail to catch the biggest kill then you will be the loser of the demonic academia and no one wants to be a loser, all right."
Well, that was going to be hard because all his life he has been nothing but a loser.
" I see." He nodded but he still didn't say anything further and waited for Sierra to finish explaining. It didn't matter to him if he was going to come out as a loser what mattered to him the most was —— his survival. Nothing was more important than that.
Sierra blinked her violet eyes and her long eyelashes fluttered as she tilted her head back and looked at him. She was looking at him with a curious look as if wondering why he wasn't saying anything about the hunt, was he supposed to display his excitement and act like he was dying to hunt the demonic beasts?
Or was he supposed to act all scared and beg her to help him?
" You don't want to ask me anything about the hunt? You don't seem to be worried about the hunt." She asked.
" Not worried about the hunt?" Damien smiled bitterly as he jutted his thumb over his chest and said, " How can I not worry, my survival rate is dropping by the second but will worrying change anything? No, right? So why don't we move to the point where you will explain to me how should I make out of this hunt alive?"
" All right," Sierra pouted when he took his arm away from her and then walked back to where the book was and she flipped it open and then searched for a long time before coming to a stop and then said, " Here it is…so the thing is like this, according to my father—— there was a group of demons who declared themselves as Charlatan wanted to overthrow the overlord of the world, which they did. No one knew how they did it but my father believes that one of the closest aides of the overlord must have betrayed the overlord…anyway, the overlord found out the gist of the situation. He knew that someone was planning to kill him and which is why he sealed several parts of his existence into his seven treasures before he was you know killed."
" These treasures are hidden safely and away from the demons who wished to take control over the demon world and wreak havoc all over and this is where Lynch comes in handy," She pointed to the small creature dozing off on his shoulder. " He is one of his kind and knows how to look for any kind of treasure as long as it is something worthy of any value, he will bring you to that thing."
" And what am I supposed to do with the treasures once I find them?" Damien asked. " Will I even find them?"
" You don't need to worry about that, the treasures will lead you the way to becoming the overlord of the world, for the essence of the demon lord is still waiting for revenge, I believe they too want to be found."
