" Thanks that makes me feel really …" he trailed off not knowing what he should say at this point. Should he thank her for stopping her father from disintegrating his soul? But then again, if not for her something like this wouldn't have happened to him, now would it?
Maybe Sierra understood it too because she pretended to cough and then assumed her calm and elegant persona again. It would have been more convincing if she agreed to send him back but then again, being chased by such a beautiful woman made him …flattered slightly somewhere deep in his heart.
" Anyway, what I was saying is that my father will be of no help while you are here, if anything he will try his best to kill you… I can see that he only altered your body to that of a low-rank demon, he is too much for that," Sierra frowned slightly as she looked at Damien, looking somewhat unhappy by the actions of her father.
"I would have altered your body to that of a high-ranking demon but the thing is that your body won't be able to withstand the pressure of such a huge amount of demonic energy all at once."
" I know," said Damien as he tipped his head to Anwir. " He told me that already."
" He might have told you that but Anwir is loyal to my father, I am sure that he did not tell you that being a low-ranked demon is no different than being killed off by the higher rank demons, without any proper measures if you were to head down to the demon academia, you will be eaten by the others."
Damien's eyes widened a little as he turned to look at Anwir who looked away from his gaze looking slightly uncomfortable.
" But you don't have to worry," Sierra smiled brilliantly at him as she snapped her fingers and an orb of electric current appeared at the palm of her hand, it hissed and crackled for a few minutes before it turned smaller and smaller—— then with a brilliant glow that made Damien close his eyes, it vanished with a pop.
" You can open your eyes now," he heard Sierra say and he did open his eyes slowly before adjusting them to the dim lighting of the room.
He turned his gaze to the palm of her hand, hoping to see just what the demonic female summoned, hoping to see some sort of weapon that will help him stay alive but instead what he saw was a small silver earring that looked somewhat like a sapphire.
" An earring?" He mused looking slightly upset, he was hoping for something cooler.
Sierra seemed to have read his mind, she smiled at him displaying her sharp fangs. " Do not look down on it, this might seem like it is just a simple earring but it's a wonderful beauty. This earring will be your shield during your stay in the demonic world."
Damien stared at the small earring not understanding what exactly Sierra meant by calling that small thing a shield, it was so small that it didn't even look like it will be able to block a simple punch.
How will it protect him?
" If you don't believe me then place it on your ear," but Damien was still sceptical and he didn't move, when Sierra saw that he wasn't moving, she leaned forward and placed the earring on his right ear with her skin.
Her fingers were warm, Damien thought. He didn't expect a demon to feel so much like a human.
" Ouch," he winced when the earring snapped in place, it looked like it was a stick-on type but just now he felt something prick his skin as his ear lobe throbbed with pain.
" Okay, so you have the earring on and now we need to test the effectiveness of it," said Sierra as she raised her hand and electricity zapped through her fingers.
" What are you doing?" Damien asked, a bad premonition rising in his heart as he looked at the damned lightning that was flickering at Sierra's fingertips.
" Testing," was all Sierra said as she aimed her hand at Damien.
I knew it! She is trying to roast me alive! Damien roared in his head as he watched a lightning bolt heading straight towards him, with the size and the impact of the bolt, he was sure that he wouldn't be able to withstand the impact.
But then something weird happened, the earring on his ear started to hum with energy. He couldn't feel it at the start but as his body went taut and his legs crouched slightly, all prepared to dodge the bolt.
Damien felt the power of that earring for the first time in his life, and before he knew it, he dodged to a side and he just didn't dodge it …he dodged the entire thing like flash!
Boom!
The lightning bolt struck the chair where he was sitting just a moment ago, burning it to a crisp. When he turned around to look at the crumbling mess that looked like volcanic ashes Damien was surprised to find that he was actually five hundred feet away from the tea table and was standing in the corner of the room completely safe and sound.
" What..just happened?" He asked blinking his eyes in surprise, how can he move so fast out of nowhere? He touched the earring on his ear, it was no longer humming with energy but he could feel the energy coming from it.
" Its resonance," explained Sierra as she dropped her hand to the side and looked at Damien after summoning her energy back. " You are more of a proletarian demon, you are not supposed to have any powers. The lower-rank demons or should I call them proletarians exist to serve the higher-class demons, but a low-rank demon can never become an overlord of the demonic world, demons will never submit to your will."
"But being powerless would only mean being in danger at every turn possible. The earring on your ear is more or less resonating with your body, currently, you are quick on your feet and that is why the earring resonated with the one thing that you can use to your defence and amplified it to a demonic level."
" Basically it's a cheat ?" asked Damien touching the earring on his ear.
" Yes and no," said Sierra. " The earring only resonates with your strengths, if you get stronger then it will help you amplify your strengths but that wouldn't bring you on par with a high-ranking demon at most you will no longer be as vulnerable as you are at the moment."
