Chapter 7: Ring of Abundance!
Aakesh couldn't control himself as his full-powered punch passed through the skeleton, and he crashed into the ground with a loud sound.
Ugh! Aakesh groaned in pain as he tried to stand up.
Fortunately for him, he was only a few inches away from the throne, or his injuries would have been severe.
Patting the dust away from his shirt and pants, Aakesh stood up. He first checked if his body had any injury from that beam. After finding nothing, he looked around the room in surprise to find that the skeleton was still seated on the throne with the same posture as it had when Aakesh appeared in the room.
'Was it an illusion?' Aakesh asked in his heart. His face was filled with confusion.
Since there was no other way to explain what had transpired in the room, Aakesh decided to stop thinking about it for now. He was here for a quest, and now that the quest item was in front of him, he needed to get it.
After making up his mind, Aakesh didn't waste any time. He stepped forward and reached the throne.
Aakesh didn't directly take away the ring, but he first apologized to the skeleton for what he was going to do next.
Aakesh then respectfully snatched the ring out of the skeleton's finger.
The next moment, a window appeared in front of him, but Aakesh had no time to check it. As soon as he grabbed the ring off of the finger, the entire room began to shake.
Aakesh had noticed the gigantic chandelier hanging from the roof right above the throne. When Aakesh looked at it again, he found that it was shaking as well.
Without wasting any time, Aakesh rushed outside the range of the chandelier.
Bang!
Not long after, a loud sound rang in the room as the chandelier crashed on the throne, destroying both items.
Aakesh heaved a sigh of relief after finding himself out of range. Some glass shards from the chandelier flew his way, but the injury from them wasn't anything severe. These were just shallow wounds.
The room still didn't stop shaking as the walls began to crack, and soon after, the entire room crumbled like it was made of sticks.
Aakesh raised his eyes in surprise and excitement. When the room crumbled, Aakesh found himself back at the exit of the gap in the mountain. Like the room, the opening had collapsed, and a substantial amount of rock had engulfed it.
Aakesh first checked his chest pocket for the ring. After noticing it was there, Aakesh heaved a sigh of relief.
Aakesh couldn't help but pat himself on the back after surviving the encounter. Aakesh fell to the ground on his butt after all of this and gasped for breath.
If the first adventure was this dangerous, Aakesh could only imagine what would happen in the subsequent quests.
During the change in the room, Aakesh received several alerts, and a window appeared in front of him.
Now that there was nothing to worry about, Aakesh decided to check them.
[Adventurer, you have successfully completed your first quest.]
[Congratulations on unlocking your status panel. You can activate it at any time just by your thoughts!]
…]
{[Ring of Abundance] (Ordinary Rank)
Equipment Level: 0
Endurance +10, All other stats +5,
Additional skill: Last Attempt: Convert all other stats into strength.
Duration: 30 seconds.
Cooldown: Two Hours.
System Remarks: An item purely made for Beginners!}
The alert was for Aakesh to complete the quest, while the window offered the details of the item.
"Ordinary," Aakesh mumbled under his breath as he saw the rank of the item.
In Panagea, items were categorized into several categories, starting from Trash, Inferior, Ordinary, Rare, Epic, and so forth.
At the start of the game, adventurers only received Trash items from the system, like Aakesh's Adventurer's Beginner Set. These items were mostly worthless. The game had only begun, so at this stage, seeing even an inferior item was a rare occasion, let alone Ordinary equipment.
The stats granted by the ring showed the value of Ordinary equipment. It added 10 to the endurance stats and five to all other attributes. In total, the ring rewarded 25 attributes. It may not sound large, but the game was in its beginning stages. Even the adventurer got twenty attributes in total, and now the Ring of Abundance had more than doubled his attributes.
In addition to the attributes, there was a skill as well.
As the skill's name suggested, it was best reserved for last. Since Aakesh hadn't checked his status, he didn't know how twenty units were distributed among his four stats. But he didn't have to.
Once he equipped the ring and used the skill, his strength would grow to only one unit less than fifty. Aakesh could only imagine the power of that punch at this stage of the game.
The surprise for Aakesh hadn't ended, as the quest he completed also rewarded him with a level increase, which would grant him four free attribute points. Aakesh could use them as he sees fit.
