Chereads / My Nerd Mate: I Won't Let Her Go / Chapter 19 - He Mustn't Claim Her

Chapter 19 - He Mustn't Claim Her

Sitting down on the couch in his room, he used his hands to ruffle his hair. The fact that he couldn't have Aurora out of his head was driving him crazy. What more could he ask for? Aurora was his real mate, why was he being punished? Is it the same way it felt to everyone who found their mate? Why was he different from others? Why would Aurora punish him that way?

At that moment, he was fed up. He had tried discussing it with her yet she turned down all his questions. She wouldn't even give him a clue about why she was refusing to see her mate. Maybe if he knew a little of it, he would know how to adjust himself. It looked like he was a bad person who would mate with her.

Slowly and steadily he finally stood up from the armchair he sat on for close to an hour and made his way downstairs. He smelled his mother's scent in the kitchen, then he headed there. He stood at the kitchen door and rested his body against the door watching his mom as she went about preparing their dinner.

Zara, who had smelled him enter, spoke up, "Don't just stand there and help me out with this will you?" She protested bracing him.

However, Sage was lost in thought and didn't make any move causing Zara to turn to him. The moment she turned she saw how pale his face looked, instantly she was already beside him nursing him.

"Sage, my dear?" She called as she scanned through his body to check what was wrong with him. "Are you okay, love?" She requested from him as he closed his eyes to breathe in and out. He was trying not to break down but his wolf ranting wasn't helping.

"I'm tired mom, I can't take this again. I'm tired." He complained vulnerable while Zara took his hands.

"Is it Aurora?" She obliged and he nodded to her question.

Zara pat Sage on his shoulder, "It'll be okay dear just don't give up," she assured him and pulled him into a hug. They disengaged from the hug soon and he strolled up to his room.

"Sage?" she called him back, "Should I see the seer for you?"

Sage popped out his eyes in amazement, "Yes, mom please do," he pleaded. He truly needed to see the seer. Maybe she could find something about Aurora's dilemma as she had ascertained. Maybe she could tell the reason for her wish.

"Alright, I will see her tomorrow okay?" She ensured and placed a kiss on his forehead.

"Yes mother, thank you so much," he appreciated giving her a cheeky smile which she returned with a hit on his chest.

Zara returned to what she was doing and Sage joined her thereafter.

The next day|

Zara took her journey to the seer who lived outside the pack. Since she planned to return the same day, she woke up very early knowing the journey was almost five hours to go and to return was also the same with her spending ten hours.

She drove through the highway stopping at every intersection she needed to maybe to take some rest or to get herself something to eat. When she finally arrived at the town where the seer lived, she decided to visit one of her friends in the human world. After spending about thirty minutes with her friend, she made her way to the seer.

On getting there, she had to park her car in front of the wood that led to her cottage. She came out, locked her car and began to walk down. She had been there before so she couldn't miss her way.

As usual, the seer had known she was coming so she had sorted out why Zara was visiting her. "Let her in as soon as possible," The old woman said to her disciples which they heeded.

Zara got to the cottage and paid her loyalty as the disciples welcomed her in with respect. Flashing her smile at them, they led her into the cottage. They gave her a seat in front of a veil that was used to divide the room into two indicating the seer mustn't be seen by outsiders.

The seer didn't bother to let her say anything when she uttered, "The girl's life is in danger the moment she met your son, Zara," she declared.

"Help me, seer, he has no idea," she begged, yet the seer continued.

"He mustn't claim her or mate with her because the moment he does, he will lose his precious mate." She announced while Zara gasped.

"Why? seer, why?!" She asked incredibly.

"Because she has been cursed." The seer declared. "Go, warn your son, tell your son he mustn't do anything with her," the old woman reported once again.

"What do we do seer? Is there anything we can do to break the curse? Is there a chance he could still claim her?" Zara asked bitterly. Sage wouldn't take the warnings lightly if he couldn't claim his mate. "What do we do? Please help."

"I see nothing other than him claiming her and she falls dead," the seer proclaimed, "Go home now and stop your child or you're going to lose a soul!" She reported and Zara sprang up from her seat.

"I'll be back, seer. Please find all you can do to this please," she pleaded and bowed, making her way out of the cottage. At that point, she felt she needed to get home as soon as possible. Sage could lose control, his wolf could react, and anything could happen but then, she was five hours away from home. She got to her car and quickly searched for her phone inside her bag. When she found it, she brought it out and began to dial her son's number but the network was faulty. She called her mate's number and the same thing happened.

Furiously, she hit her hands on the steering wheel, ignited the key and pulled her car alive. With a rough speed, she hit the road and made her way back to the pack. She needed to get home as soon as possible to warn her son. She kept calling people's numbers that were close to her family so that she could send a message even when she knew it was hard for pack members to communicate outside the pack yet, none was going through.

"Protect my son and his mate," she prayed silently to the moon goddess.
