"You're welcome to the pack, Sage." The head of Gamma wolves greeted him after shifters had gathered to welcome him. "It's an honour to have you here again." The Gamma added.
"Thank you, Rae." Sage appreciated and turned to face Aurora who nudged him to get on the altar since everyone was waiting for him to climb the altar. The crowd screeched at his appearance, and after then they made a bow to him. He was previously the leader of the pack fighters and the King's right-hand man before he went out of the pack.
While he was still at the pack, he ruled the pack fighters mightily and they had all adorned him until he left. Now that he was back, they loved him more.
After some introduction to those who didn't remember him like Aurora, he thanked them for their warm welcome and the pleasant greeting came to an end. He promised them he would always be there whenever they needed him and the crowd departed happily with his vibrant speech to them.
Aurora scoffed when Sage walked over to where she was standing with a few pack fighters, clutching the rogues tightly, waiting for the vehicle that will take them to the slave's dungeon which was at the far end of the wood, beside the borders.
"Would you love to have a ride with me?" Sage requested as soon as he got to them but Aurora was lost in thought thinking of how rudely she had talked to the Beta's son, her senior. Why didn't he act harshly? She knew if she was the one, she would have boasted all her status to him. "He even bowed to me?" She thought.
Sage knew she was lost in thought and wished he could listen to all of what she was thinking about knowing they could be her guilt to him.
"Will you?" He asked for the second time, jerking her out of her thoughts.
"Will I?" She implored, sheepishly and rolled her head away from his gaze. She had become shy all of a sudden.
"I will take you to the borders with my car." He conveyed, not asking her the question again which she might refuse.
"I brought my car, thank you so much for the offer." She stated and her hands over his face.
Sage grinned and his wolf fluttered. She was acting all cute for him to stop chasing after her. Would she be happy if he reviewed his identity? Would she want to reject him? How was he going to know the secret she was hiding from him? Of course, there were reasons for her to make such a wish.
"I know you brought your car but could you do me the honour to ride with me? We could go out after putting them in place." He proposed with a pleasing smile on his face which Aurora caught and almost drooled at it. He was handsome and athletic as she'd thought. But she was trying not to give way for him to mock her. That's what she was avoiding because it seems he wanted to mock her by having a chat with her.
"I'm sorry, Sage but I have to attend to some things too, I don't have_"
"We could go together." He interrupted, gaining a weird stare from her.
"Would you let me finish my statements!" She snapped.
"I was_"
She raised her hand at him again doing the stop sign. "I told you, I'll be taking my car whereas I don't need your help and you aren't the one taking me there before." She proclaimed and hissed away.
Sage chuckled, "You did yours."
Aurora didn't spare him her time again and moved away from where she was standing pretending to talk to the rogues. Just about time, a Van drove into the pack building and the remaining seven rogues were pushed into the boot of the van with chains clutched over their bodies even though they had been injected with wolfsbane.
Sage watched Aurora move to her car. She entered and ignited the key and as she was about to switch the engine on, Rae, the head of the Gammas, hit the side screen of her car. With a surprised expression written all over her face, she slid the screen down. Why would the head of the Gammas talk to her? He was the hardest person one could communicate with, yet he was knocking on her screen to talk to her.
"I suppose you're going with Sage, right?" Rae asked and she nodded her head saying yes. "Why don't you go with him in his car? It could be helpful."
Aurora, trying to grab what Rae meant by his statement, arched her eyebrows at him. "I don't get it." She conveyed more like a question.
"I mean, you could get to know each other and learn from him."
"Oh!" She mouthed. It was strange to her why the Gamma came to her and couldn't resist his offer. With the thought that Gamma could be more friendly to her, she agreed to follow Sage.
She got down with outrage and headed sheepishly to Sage who was now in his car, ready to take off. She knocked on the side screen of the front seat and gave Sage a fake smile who looked amused to see her. Instantly, he unlocked the door and she entered, jamming the door after.
Trying to start a conversation as they drive, Sage uttered, "I never knew you would change your mind."
"The Gamma forced me." She conceded.
"The Gamma?" He requested, surprised. "Rae forced you?"
Aurora gasped at his words. Did he just call Gamma by his name?
Sage, who seemed to have read her mind, answered her question, "He's my worthy friend."
"Worthy you say until he rips your head."
"Okay? He can't unless he'll break my trust." Sage muttered and shrugged his shoulder leaving Aurora to scoff.
"I see you have a smooth and interesting relationship with the pack members." She said and sat comfortably on the chair and Sage noticed she wasn't wearing her seat belt.
"Seat belt, please."
"What did you… oh! I knew about it, I just didn't want to use it." She lied and started to fight with the seat belt.
"But… but… Why did you use it?" Sage raised a question between laughter.
"Oh… I… Fuck! This was the reason I didn't want to have this drive." She cursed and loosened the seat belt again winning more laughter from Sage.
