The drive was hasty but smooth until the car plunged on a hook and the wheel became plastered. Sage who had driven at a normal speed was able to control the brake but missed his feet on the clutch and the car stumbled on a speed hump, making the vehicle jump from the ground, hitting the ground again before stopping on its track.
"What are you driving?!" Aurora squealed when she finally got herself to breathe. She swept her head to Sage who was already cursing the hook that had twitched his car wheel. He didn't say anything and unlocked his car to go out, Aurora doing the same with rage. This was the reason she should have taken her car instead of joining Sage.
"What's wrong?" She asked and tilted her hair to the back of her ear to avoid the wind blowing it over to her face.
"What you desire," Sage answered with a serious tone. He hated the fact that his car had to stop when he was having a good time with Aurora thinking she might want to find another transport and leave him behind.
"Sure, what I desire. If you haven't insisted that I follow you, then this shouldn't have happened."
"It's not my fault," Sage stated, his hands by his side trying to think of a way to get out of their mess.
"So, it's my fault, right? You kept babbling on irrelevant things and ended up not looking closer on the road to see what would destroy your car." She uttered and threw her head away when Sage gave her a stern look.
"I didn't force you to follow me."
"Because you charmed your worthy friend to request I follow you."
"Charmed?"
Aurora, realizing her words, made a slightly fake cough she always does whenever she feels agitated, "You mind-linked the Gamma or whatever." She mumbled, throwing her hands into the air.
Sage was forced to smile this time. He was enjoying how crazy his mate was acting all crazy making his love for her grow.
As they were still arguing, the van that had carried the rogues began to stride towards them. They had passed it minutes ago and it caught off with them again. Aurora groaned at the thought of seeing them pass them. She cursed Sage and the Gamma under her breath, making her face the obstacle. The van got to them and slowed its speed when the motorist saw them.
"We'll meet you guys soon," Sage assured the motorist and made a gesture with his hand for them to continue on their way. The motorist bowed his head in respect and drove away, once again leaving them behind.
"We should walk," Sage suggested and left to take his car key afterwards, locking up his car.
"Walk? Hell! That's a fifteen-minute walk." Aurora cursed.
Sage got to her and pinched her slightly on her left cheek which sent a spark to his body. That was the first time he had touched her.
She also felt a cool sensation on her body and her wolf reacted woefully. She was surprised by the feelings while Sage was excited that they still had a spark even after he'd hidden his scent.
He pulled his hands away and blushed at her while she tried to pull herself together, quarrelling with her wolf who battled to shift. She watched him turn to the road and began to walk away. She let herself admire him while she strolled behind. How was she able to develop such tasty sensations from him? Why was her wolf reacting so well to his touch? Even his strong aura was killing her and she thought if everyone in the pack felt the same. And at that point, she wished she could touch him again. She was starting to love the shivers she was getting.
Sage noticed her slow movements and stopped to face her. The smile on her face made him arch his eyebrows at her. But immediately he sensed she was admiring him, he stretched out his hands for her to take. Aurora's smile turned into a grin to Sage's amazement. She didn't hesitate to take his stretched hand to feel the warmth she had felt when he first touched her.
Holding each other's hands, they didn't mind the distance it would take to get to the dungeon, they both just wanted to hold hands.
"Welcome back, Sage." The dungeon watcher of about the same age as he was, saluted.
"I'm glad to be back and see all of you doing well. I guess you got what you've always wanted."
"Sure." The watcher said while Sage wrapped his hands over his shoulder as they walked out of the dungeon after the rogues had been locked. "Hope to see you around."
Sage winked at him with a side glance. "Whenever you plan to visit prime, let me know." He told the watcher who nodded his head and they hugged each other.
"Aurora." The watcher waved to her and she returned hers.
Sage shook hands with the watcher and made his way to Aurora who was resting her back against the van waiting for her.
"You do know everyone in the pack," Sage uttered, staring deeply into her hazel eyes. Aurora nodded, not having a word to say. The person standing in front of her was starting to make her go wild. Her wolf wasn't helping a bit.
The motorist who had driven the van came forward to them. He handed the van key to Sage and told him to drive it back to the pack. He promised to find his transport back to Prime. Sage thanked him and urged Aurora to get into the passenger seat and she agreed to it without any argument.
Sage tried to start a conversation this time again but it didn't work for her. Aurora was lost in thought. What was Sage doing to her? Were the emotions she was sensing the same ones as falling in love as Fennick had always implied? Was she starting to like Sage who wasn't her mate?
She kicked her thoughts away and shook her head. She mustn't start falling in love, she wasn't ready to love anyone like she was still awaiting the mate she didn't wish to meet.
They finally got back to Prime and Save insisted on escorting her home which she couldn't refuse.
"You spoiled my plans today!" She sneered at him when they got to her cottage which had taken Sage by stunned.
"You live here?" Sage answered his question.
"Yes?"
"Nice!" He conveyed, "We both live beside the pack which is easier."
"Easier," Aurora said and plugged her hands into her trouser pocket.
"Yes. We'll have to see each other every day."
"Really? That's what you're thinking about?" She asked, pretending like she had no idea what he was talking about.
Sage lay his hands on her shoulders and turned her to face her gate. "See you later and have a good rest, tomorrow will be a better day." He ensured and pushed her forward.
Before she could turn to face him and wave goodbye to him, he has run off at his inhumane speed.
