Chereads / My Nerd Mate: I Won't Let Her Go / Chapter 9 - The Decree

Chapter 9 - The Decree

Aurora's alarm rang too early for her to wake up. It was as if she never slept a second after she had gone to bed the other night. She felt weak and exhausted. She desired to get back to bed but she couldn't. She had to be at the pack building where the rogues would be given their final judgement.

She used her thumb to rub her dark circles, staring at herself inside the five feet mirror in her washroom.

After her bath, she brought out another pair of her uniform to wear. Satisfied with her appearance, she grabbed her spec and wore it properly furthermore, striding out of her bedroom down to the sitting room.

She cringed watching her grandmother dance to the tune of the music that was played from a stereo in the sitting room. She was with a pack of chocolate candy, munching them with excitement. Sora loved chocolate and after so many days of missing it, she finally got a chance to go out to town to get one. Most times she was busy going out and shopping, she does almost everything for Aurora so she wouldn't neglect her duty in the pack.

Sora was like an angel sent to Aurora ever since she had come to earth. Aurora never knew her parents or met them, only for a frame that was hung neatly in her bedroom with her mother's picture in it. That was the only memory she had about her mother but her father, no one knows about him, even her grandmother told her she hasn't set her eyes on him. Her mother had conceived without reviewing who her father was to anybody but he had caused her mother's death after she gave birth to her.

At first, Aurora had taken up the guilt that she was the cause of her mother's death but her grandmother made it clear that her mother had died because she mated with her father. She tried to know the reasons but Sora told her it was a family lineage and that Aurora should promise her she wouldn't find her mate or even when they meet, she shouldn't let him claim her unless she will die instantly. Aurora with a weary heart has made the vow without consideration. She knew how much her grandmother was trying to protect her.

Thankfully, she had moved on with her life without finding him. She was glad her wishes always came through. But then, she always had the hope to meet him. What was he like? Would he even want a crazy person like her? Does he live in her pack or far away? However, she still wishes she didn't get to see him.

Sora, noticing her presence, turned to face her, "It's almost seven, Rora, you should eat before going out." Sora proposes while she consumes her chocolate.

"You're eating chocolate this early, Mrs Sora," Aurora complained and placed her hands on her side waist.

"I ate breakfast and decided to top it up with my babies," Sora said, playfully, twisting and shaking her body to the tune.

Aurora huffed at her statement and headed down to the kitchen. There she got herself bacon which Sora already made with a sandwich and bread. She took an apple drink from the fridge and headed to the dining room with her breakfast. She settled down to eat and in less than fifteen minutes, she was done.

"Mrs Sora? I'll forgive him when I intend to, he's my friend, not yours so you have to stay away from our friendship if you keep saying what he did yesterday was the best." Aurora divulged when she was about to head out from the cottage. Sora has been talking about Fennick while she was having breakfast and she has kept quiet until Sora mentioned him being the most important person in her life.

She knew he was but that doesn't mean he could behave all silly. How could he have plastered a cake on her face? It was annoying as well as embarrassing in front of their friends.

She got in her Ferrari blue car and breathed in and out before igniting her car key. Even though the pack building was a few steps from her cottage, she still needed her car to go out to town since she had some business to take care of.

Alpha Cowell carefully sat on his iron throne carved with tough and durable carbon steel. The silver tint shone through the hall as people bowed to welcome his arrival. By his left was his Beta, also sitting on a steel seat which wasn't as big as the Alpha throne. The head of the Gamma stood by his right hand, clothed in gold attire, his hand holding onto the carved gold sword. He also has a gold cape wrapped around his neck just like it always was.

"Bring them forward." Alpha Cowell ordered and Aurora with other warriors began to pull the rogues since they had been injected with Wolfbanes and were so weak that they couldn't carry their legs to walk.

Getting to the centre of the hall, the rogues were thrust forward and they sneaked when their knees scratched the pebbles floor.

Aurora drew out her blade, grabbed the rogue she had fought with the other day by his neck and stationed her blade on his neck, ready to snip his neck as soon as the Alpha commands. Strangely enough, she wasn't the type to slay just like that but she needed to act tough in front of the associate and the leaders who were present. If she doesn't, then her position could be at risk. She could be told to step down and that she wasn't brave to lead the pack fighters.

"We've always pitied you and your group. Why did you return?" King Cowell inquired, his voice coarse as ever before.

The rogue didn't reply and it angered Aurora. She began shredding his skin with her blade, little by little urging him to talk. "Speak, idiot or I tear your neck!" She threatened and her wolf snarled.

"We wanted to disturb the pack, please." The rogue pleaded guilty.

"So you can beg." Aurora thought.

"You came to disturb the pack, right?" Alpha Cowell bellowed and laughter filled the air. "You came to…" He cracked up again and the shifters present joined him. "Kill them!" King Cowell decreed amidst the laughter and everyone cheered at his speech. They were happy he was finally going to kill the scoundrels.

Just when blades were being pulled out by other pack fighters that were behind the rogue the word 'Stop!' travelled through the hall and the killers had to halt swerving their heads toward the person who had made the command.
