Chapter 28 - Decennial Summer Festival (Finale) Sold!

"Spending one thousand just on the first product?" "

"Are they not too flamboyant with their spending?"

Voices began to murmur throughout the different tables.

Ace's parent's did not seem to mind his acts, almost as if they didn't even know what had happened.

Just like this, many products which most families were hoping to buy were all sold out by the Oukell family.

They consisted of different types of armory and weaponry, along with pills and elixirs of different kinds.

It was to be expected, but far more outrageous than they had first thought.

Most families had even lost morale, not wanting to bid even once more knowing the Oukell family was most likely going to outbid them.

Finally, after the tenth product, merchants were also allowed to bid.

Now, the chances for smaller families to buy products were zero.

Only the highest families and merchants would bid, and surely topple theirs by many folds.

"The first product in the all-person division is... a Mastercraft grade full armor set of the second tier!"

The auctioneer yelled.

A Mastercraft grade item was something that most families in or outside of the walls of the kingdom deemed to be of the highest quality.

If they were to get their hands on such a thing, their entire family's power would rise.

"The starting price is two thousand gold!"

The bids began snapping off at rapid speeds as merchants and high-status families began bidding.

This time, even Yan's merchant group began bidding.

"Four thousand four hundred gold going twice!"

"Thrice!"

"Sold to the Kaien family merchant group!"

Eustas had also wanted to buy this armor set, however, he did not have infinite money in his pockets.

No matter what, he was going to have to save as much as possible for the 12th Tree's Elixir.

The elixir would easily keep his family's status stable as the highest in Bolnuir, and would also allow their son to grow much faster, eventually becoming a powerful adventurer.

Powerful adventurer's made large connections to high corporations and could bring fame and status to one's family.

Other than that, one could also become a warrior of their family, one serving the kingdom.

This would also amount to great fame and prosperity, as you would be backed by the kingdom itself.

After several other products shot off, it was finally time for the final one.

Everyone waited in anticipation to even see the item, as it was slowly brought on stage via cart.

The elixir was not actually in the form of an elixir.

Inside a thick glass tube - 12 feet in height and four feet in width - existed a thick trunk of a tree.

Inside a naturally made puncture in the tree was a large violet-colored artifact the size of a basketball.

Its shape was bizarre, and it glowed so brightly that the entire town center was covered in a mantle of purple haze.

It even seemed to beat in formal succession, almost as though it was the heart of the tree.

The item was magnificent to gaze upon.

"The 12th Tree's Elixir everyone!"

The auctioneer screamed at the top of his lungs, sending a roar through the crowd.

Everyone was hyped about this item.

"The starting bid..."

Eustas sat at the edge of his seat in anticipation, ready to bid.

Many other families and merchant groups did the same.

This was not an item they could afford to lose.

"is five thousand gold!"

...

"Eight thousand gold!"

Eustas loudly proclaimed.

Many of those wishing to buy it under such an amount were immediately disheartened and had to step out of the competition.

This included both the Hemm family and also the Aster family.

The latter of which had sour expressions on their faces.

"Eight thousand two hundred!"

"Eight thousand five hundred!"

The bids quickly rose in medium to small intervals amongst the few who remained standing in the biddings.

Suddenly, Yan's father raised his hand.

"Ten thousand!"

Suddenly, a silence washed through the crowd.

Most hadn't planned the item to go over nine thousand gold.

A vein looked to be popping out of Eustas' face.

"Eleven thousand!"

He shouted, standing up.

"Twelve!"

Yan's father also stood up, a smile still radiating on his face.

In contrast, Eustas was as red as a tomato.

"Twelve thousand five hundre-"

The old man outbid him before he even finished his sentence.

"Thirteen!"

Everyone looked on as they saw Eustas pale in comparison to the old man's bids.

It was highly unexpected, as they had never seen Eustas in such a rowdy state before.

As Eustas thought of what to bid next, or if to bid at all, Yan's father was already preparing to outbid him again without even letting him finish.

He found amusement in it.

"Thirteen thousand two hundred fift-"

Right at this moment, Yan's father began to speak as well.

"Fourte-"

However, even he was suddenly cut off.

"Twenty thousand gold!"

Zareth stood up on top of his table and rose his hand.

Everyone's heads instantly darted to him like a magnet, including his parents.

Drufus nearly fainted on hearing it.

The Aster family looked to be utterly shocked, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads.

Everyone else was no less surprised.

Eustas' looked to be in disbelief, as he slowly slid to the back of his seat in defeat.

Murmurs quickly erupted through the stunned crowd, as Zareth looked at Yan's father with a smile on his face.

Yan's father matched the gaze, before putting his hand down.

He wasn't going to bid here any further, as he understood what the situation was just from this bid.

Looking at Yan, his arms were crossed, his eyes were closed, and a large smile rested on his face.

'That... rascal...' Yan's father thought to himself.

"Twenty thousand going once!"

"Going twice!"

"Thrice!... Sold to the Vanaheim family!"
