Chapter 31 - Final Stand!

"To hell with it! I'm going to help as well!"

A younger man suddenly yelled from the crowd before standing up and making his way behind Drufus and Freya.

Seeing this, many people's eyes lit up, almost out of inspiration.

"Damn it all! What else do I have to live for if not this city!"

An older gentleman screamed out of nowhere, standing up as well before walking over to where the other man had walked with a cane.

...

"You're right! If I die, I will die defending this city!"

A woman proclaimed as she stood up.

"Let's show this bastard what Bolnuir's final stand looks like!"

Just like this, an uproar waved through the crowd, as many high-status families stood up and joined the group behind Drufus and Freya.

The families had high status mostly because they also had adventurers amongst them, so many were able to combat Zaros' weakened aura.

Before long, over 20 people had gathered behind Drufus and Freya, all adventurers, be they, rookies or masters.

Many of the merchants who were present had also called their guards, who were adventurers as well to protect them.

They also did not hesitate to join the group.

It was over 60 people who stood together, all adventurers, all willing to give up their lives.

Those who did not wish to give their lives were also present but decided not to join the group.

'Fools... that man did not come here to destroy this village, but he may as well do so, now that you have given him the reason.'

Zareth thought to himself as he continued to weigh his options.

He was looking for a way to escape at all times.

The snake was no longer going to wait and allow Zaros to think of what to do next.

Although injured, it knew what it was summoned for.

Quickly lunging at him, it nearly took a large bite out of Zaros' shoulder.

Before that, however, Zaros managed to grab two teeth on both sides of the behemoth's mouth to stretch it open, saving himself from the carnage.

The snake's power was not to be disregarded, as he struggled to keep its mouth open.

The sharp teeth he was holding onto slowly began sinking into the skin of his palms.

Taking this opportunity, many of the adventurers rushed at the man, casting various spells and wielding a multitude of weapons.

Multiple raging balls of fire flew across the air toward him.

Slashes of fast, sharp wind traveled rapidly out of nowhere.

Pebbles of rock moving at bullet speeds, balls of water doing the same.

In between these barrages came the other adventurers who wielded weapons.

They looked to have a weird red glow slightly radiating around them, their movements seemingly swifter and more strength-bearing.

The magic attacks slammed at his torso, making him react slightly, however, not dealing any real damage.

Zaros looked to furrow his brow in anger instead, locking his gaze onto the adventurers.

With another ferocious push, the snake drove him down to his knees.

Zaros fought back against the snake's power with all his might, even yelling in the struggle.

However, his attempts failed to bare fruit.

His pure strength might have been greater than the creatures, however, its bite force plus ginormous body was too much to handle in his current position.

Suddenly, he closed his eyes.

One could see him clenching his jaw from the outside of his skin.

After a couple of seconds, his eyelids flew open once more, and he let out a powerful roar before standing up to his knees and throwing the snake to the side -- slamming it down with utmost might.

Suddenly, a burst of killing intent exploded out of him, completely freezing everyone on the spot.

The pressure was even greater than when he had originally arrived it was over double the amount.

The expression on his face looked menacing, as his eyes were completely bloodshot.

His mouth was slightly agape, and his breathing erratic and savage, similar to a wild beast.

Many of those who hadn't cultivated at all fell face-flat onto the floor, feeling as though their brains were going to pop from the pressure as they continued to be forced into the ground.

Those who could still stand felt as though the atmosphere around them was burning hot to the skin, and were also completely petrified.

For Zareth, this wasn't an entirely bad occurrence.

Although he was now nearly frozen due to the pressure, he knew that Zaros had gone berserk.

When a cultivator went berserk, they sacrificed their life energy to achieve higher levels of power.

However, this would also make the cultivator lose almost all control, and turn them into uncontrollable animals.

This meant that Zareth was also potentially in danger, however, it also meant that he could escape at nearly any point without having to worry about being targeted.

With so many living creatures in front of the beast to hunt, the thought of another being would not even exist in its mind...

Tightening his fists, Zaros slammed his hands into the head of the snake which was already on the ground.

The scene reminded Zareth of when he killed his first-ever wolf.

It was gruesome and bloody, as the snake's durable scales eventually cracked from the near-infinite barrage of blows, and its face was completely fu*ked up.

It tried to swat Zaros with its tail, swatting it around in the air for multiple seconds before finally letting it thump down onto the floor.

Completely drenched in blood, Zaros turned to face the adventurers who were before storming at him.

Horrifying malice oozed from his body, his eyes already imagining the guts of the adventurers flying in the air.

Finally, he lunged toward them with his fists clenched.
