Chapter 30 - The Duo Of Twisting Love

The force from the collision of auras felt like a whirlwind encompassing the entire area.

It continued for multiple seconds more as the two gazed at each other with fearsome intents behind their eyes.

Finally, both auras dispersed into the air.

Their auras were nearly at the same level of power.

Zaros seemed to have calmed down his bloodlust, as the atmosphere was far less heavy than before.

The mission he was given was to kill Akuno Kaien, Yan's father, however, this snake that stood in his way complicated things quite a bit.

He wanted to suppress all with his aura and quickly get his job done before leaving.

However, now that this creature was in front of him, it wasn't going to be so quick.

Because of the lowering in aura density, Zareth could move once again, along with nearly everyone else who had cultivation above Foundation Creation.

Although his speed was not at the maximum, it was enough to escape.

Looking around, it seemed that many others had the same plan.

As dozens of people hurriedly began standing up before trying to escape, Zaros' sudden yell froze them solid.

"No one moves a muscle! Stay where you are!"

His voice was like a commander, sending shiver's down people's spines.

It was loud and menacing, even having mana mixed into it to amplify its effects.

No one dared to move any further on hearing this.

Once again, even without as much of an insane aura bounding them, peoples fear's of death caused them to stay put.

Zareth was almost no different, except, he had no fear for Zaros, nor even death.

He merely disliked the concept, as he didn't know what would happen were he to perish.

With no other choice, he down at the scene below him.

The large snake hissed loudly, gaping its mouth open as it showed its large serrated teeth.

Zaros only looked at it with sheer contempt.

'Tsk... what silly orders, not to spill the blood of anything else other than the target.'

He thought to himself as he continued facing the threatening snake in front of him.

'It seems I will have to bend those rules If I want to get out of here unscathed.'

He dashed toward the snake and initiated the battle, swinging his blade sideways to sever the beast's head.

The snake immediately ducked under before lunging at his body which was in the air.

It looked like he couldn't move since he was already in the air, this meant he couldn't dodge.

Just before the snake's mouth reached him, he swiftly moved to the side.

Of course, he could fly!

There would have been no other way for him to get to his city so fast.

The two swung and missed each other several more times.

Their attacks were almost invisible to the eye, appearing like blurs to everyone present.

However, it seemed as though Zaros had the upper hand, as he began slightly grazing at the snake's hardened scales here and there.

The slashes only left scratches on the scales, but it was more than what the snake was doing to him.

Before his victory would advance, however, the adventurer's from before quickly came at him once again.

The blow from before indeed hadn't been lethal, so regrouping and attacking again was easy.

Liam was in the front with his guard up, acting as a shield.

From above him came Braemos with saber in hand, going directly for Zaros.

From the side dashed Jasmine who had an arrow aimed directly at Zaros' head, and behind all of them stood Arthur who had already buffed all of their abilities, and was preparing a fireball to cast.

As they arrived close enough, Liam thrust his broad sword at Zaros' abdomen.

Braemos slashed at his neck, Jasmine released her arrow, and Arthur cast his fireball.

All attack's reached Zaros at once, with the snake's jaw coming for him as well.

His main worry was the snake's attack, however, these other attacks were far too distracting to fully avoid its blow.

He swung his sword with full strength toward the adventurer's sending a powerful slash of air at them which crippled all of their attacks.

Thankfully, the slash was not aimed at them, so it did not hit them directly, however, the force of the blow still caused them to be blown away once again, and this time for good.

With Zaros slightly distracted, the snake chomped into Zaros' shoulder causing him to yell in pain, before thrusting his sword into the top of the snake's mouth.

Blood gushed from the wound as the snake quickly pulled away, taking the sword with it.

As Zaros landed back on the ground, he felt a powerful energy which was radiating behind him.

Quickly looking over his shoulder, he saw two people who had a tornado-like wind energy twisting around them at extreme speeds.

One, a man, stood behind the other, a woman, as they both held hands as their eyes glowed a brilliant white light.

The energy radiating from Drufus and Freya was powerful enough to hurt Zaros.

Although their ranks weren't insanely high, their affinity to each other's mana was so great that it allowed them to achieve a form of high power that was enough to rival those who were multiple ranks above them.

This was indeed a rare power, but one which was not to be underestimated.

Zaros looked back at the snake, at this sword that was lodged into its nose.

Just as he thought of quickly retrieving the sword, the snake shook its head, unlodging the sword from its nose before swatting it hundreds of feet away into the air with its tail.

Seeing the Duo of Twisting Love perform their signature move once again after so long was incredible!

It inspired hope in everyone present, who did not dare to leave their positions.

Everyone looked on with awe as they wondered:

They saved this city before, would they be able to do it again?

Even Zareth was slightly struck with surprise, as he had not anticipated his parents to hold so much power.
