Killing Lance
'Brat, you have nine souls. You can turn the man's soul into mush by using a bit of your Soul Qi. Why are you thinking so much?' Senior Wudi berated.
Since Matthew hadn't yet entered the Soul Embryo Realm, it meant that his soul was still in a usable state. Because of this, he was able to use his soul proactively and kill Lance. If he had entered the Soul Embryo Realm, this wouldn't be possible.
However, Matthe was still annoyed at Senior Wudi's interruption.
'Are you reading my mind every second of the day? Why do you always know what I am thinking about?' Matthew complained.
Though the extra mind was helpful in moments like these, having another man know what he was thinking of every second of the day didn't sit right with Matthew.
'I wouldn't have to if you weren't so useless. How did you cultivate to the Divine Lord Realm if you couldn't even think of such a simple thing?' Senior Wudi retorted.
'I would've gotten to that answer eventually. You didn't even give me long enough to brainstorm.' Matthew replied.
However, inwardly, he was slightly embarrassed by Senior Wudi's insult.
'Wait. Can John and Joanne hear this conversation?' Matthew suddenly asked.
Though he had told the twins about the future and cultivation, Matthew didn't plan to tell them about his previous life. Whether it was their deaths or the miserable 5000 years he had to endure, Matthew didn't want them to learn about either.
'Don't worry. The kids can't hear us. But they have been getting bored on the inside and want to leave. So kill that man quickly so you can go back home and let them out.' Senior Wudi said before he stopped replying.
With a plan, Matthew got out of his car and made his way to Lance's agency. To do what Senior Wudi recommended was simple, but since Matthew's soul cultivation base was still low, he had to be close to Lance to do it.
Thankfully, he didn't have to be face-to-face with the man, as if he had to. Matthew would become suspect number one instantly.
Walking into the agency, Matthew found Lance sitting silently at his desk, working.
Lance himself was a decent-looking man, only a few years older than Matthew, with his sleek brown hair and nicely trimmed goatee. But Matthew could see that he put almost as much product into his appearance as a model.
He himself was in the corner of the office, working on his desktop computer, seemingly busy. But just seeing the man's face, Matthew instantly became overcome with murderous intentions. That same face had killed his siblings in cold blood and wanted to kill him as well.
But he managed to calm himself down and focus on the mission.
"Hello, sir. Do you have any business with us here at East Coast's Real Estate?" A charming voice came from Matthew's left, pulling him out of his thoughts.
Turning his head, Matthew saw another real estate agent waving over him with a smile.
Giving one back, Matthew walked over to the women, but as he did, he sent out a blast of Soul Qi at Lance. Though it was all the Soul Qi he currently possessed, the tiny amount was useless to him. And when he gets more Soul Qi, the meager amount he wasted will be worth nothing.
Following Matthew's expulsion of Soul Qi, Lance, the first hurdle of Matthew's miserable life, fell over like a tower of cards hit by a gust of wind.
With his arms turning limp and his face crashing into his keyboard, Lance's fall wasn't a quiet one, and it soon attracted the attention of everyone in the office. Curious, everyone's heads spun in his direction at the sound of the impact. Some of the people near him even went over to see what had happened.
"Lance, are you okay? What happened? Are you fine?" The man closest to Lance's desk asked as he walked over.
But after receiving no response, the man grew worried. Not knowing how to act next, the man poked Lance's face, but after getting nothing, the man feared the worst.
"Someone call an ambulance! I think he might've had a heart attack!" The man yelled out.
Matthew, in the corner, smiled sinisterly. No one on Earth would be able to find out what happened to Lance. What Matthew had done was simple.
He had used the very little Soul Qi he had as a weapon and launched it at Lance's, instantly turning the man's soul to mush.
This way, his physical body would be perfectly fine, but Lance would be gone.
The soul was known as the essence of a person. Whatever made up a man was in the soul, whether it was memories, habits, or even personality. The body just served as its shell.
So now that Lance's soul had been turned to mush, everything about Lance was effectively gone. All that was left was the pile of flesh and bones that Lance used to inhabit.
However, humans on Earth didn't know anything about the soul and would mistakenly think that Lance had randomly and suddenly fallen into a deep coma. This way, not only would there be no murder investigation, but Matthew wouldn't even have to raise a finger to end Lance's life.
Matthew was elated in his mind when the ambulance soon arrived, taking Lance's physical body away from the agency.
Not bothering to stay any longer, Matthew left. Giving the female real estate agent a lame excuse that his day was ruined by Lance's death, he left.
There was nothing he could gain by staying there any longer.
Driving back to his apartment, Matthew felt at peace. Now that he had taken care of Lance, he had nothing to worry about for the foreseeable future. Though Matthew certainly had many other enemies that he would want to give the same fate as Lance, unfortunately, they all lived much deeper in the universe. They were literally light years away from where Matthew was currently.
So now, Matthew would have no blockades or anything stopping him from achieving his goals.
He was already easily the strongest human to ever exist on Earth, and while personal strength didn't mean anything now when society collapsed in half a year, strength would mean everything.
All Matthew needed to do was keep his head down and not bother the government, and nothing would impede his path.
Relieved from any burdens, Matthew felt blissful about his current situation.
'This is the only time you'll ever experience this moment of peace, brat, so enjoy it while it lasts!' Senior Wudi spoke rudely as he interrupted Matthew's happy thoughts.
'You old fart, let me enjoy this! This is the most peace I've had in more than 3000 years. I don't wish to be bothered now.' Matthew angrily replied.
'Yes, yes. Sure, enjoy your measly two years of peace. But hurry and park your vehicle. The kids want to get out of the Nine-Ringed Divine Throne.' Senior Wudi said as he ignored Matthew's words.
Groaning mentally, Matthew reluctantly obeyed and quickly parked his car. And as soon as he did, the twins appeared in the backseat.
"Oh my god, Mat, thank you! It was getting so boring in there!" Joanne spoke as she made it back to the real world.
And though John didn't say anything, Matthew could tell from his expression that he agreed with his sister.
"Mat, where are you going right now? Master wouldn't tell us what you were doing and would constantly teach us boring stuff." Joanne asked.
"I was just with Amanda earlier. I had just told her to sell the properties we own. And now I am on my way back home. But I don't have any plans for the rest of the day." Matthew answered.
"Wait. Why are you selling them?" Joanne asked, confused.
Not wanting to hide this from them, Matthew explained to them what he planned to do. Once he finished, the two stayed silent for a moment before Joanne spoke up first.
"Can you bring Amanda with us? I don't want her to die such a miserable death here." Joanne asked sincerely.
She and Joanne were really close, and Amanda helped Joanne through tough times. Joanne saw her as a big sister figure, and she didn't want Amanda to die lonely in the upcoming brutal world.
Even John, who wasn't close to the woman, also looked at Matthew with eyes full of anticipation.
"I already invited her, so don't worry. I plan to buy the tickets for after tomorrow." Then, finally, Matthew spoke, relieving the twins of their worries.
"What do you guys want to do today? Though it's somewhat late, there is still time left in the day." Matthew asked.
The sun had just started setting, and though it wasn't nighttime yet, the day was almost done. So Matthew planned to do some various research at home until it was.
"Then take us out to eat! We have been in that run-down throne room for almost a day now, and we are starving." John asked.
Seeing that Joanne was also hungry, Matthew softened, and he asked, "Where do you want to go then? We'll be getting a lot of money soon, so we can go somewhere fancy if you want."
After his question, the twins and Matthew would go out and eat at a nice restaurant that they hadn't been to since their parents died. Then, following their expensive dinner, Matthew would take them across New York City, letting them have as much fun as they wanted.
The family would leave the city soon, so Matthew planned to let them enjoy it as much as they could in the little time they had left. It was not only their birth city but the only place they ever knew, so Matthew wanted them to do everything they couldn't do before they had to move.
Matthew and the twins would only come home past midnight, but since they were content, Matthew was okay with it. He had missed them for more than 5000 years, so let alone a whole night, even if it were a whole year, Matthew would accompany them throughout it without complaining.
Back in the apartment, Matthew was stuck carrying the half-asleep twins into their room. Since he now had superhuman strength, carrying the two twelve-year-olds wasn't very difficult for Matthew. After tucking them into their beds, Matthew went to his room for the night.

There is now a discord for this novel. However, be warned. It is rather bare bones. I suck at Discord. The link is in the synopsis.
