Chereads / A New Beginning Of The Heavenly Demon / Chapter 24 - The Military's Pressure

Chapter 24 - The Military's Pressure

A fearsome aura rolled out from him, spreading in all directions, showing no signs of stopping. The aura was so immense that spatial storms appeared everywhere it passed.

Despite this, the dome protecting the Earth was as stable as ever. Only a light buzzing noise was heard, imperceptible to everyone inside.

"Humm! An immortal?" At the same time, Cayden the Heavenly Demon's expression changed. He did feel something.

How could he forget the aura of the hateful immortals?

He deeply narrowed his eyes at the sky. "Did I alert someone by taking away the power of divinity?"

Besides, he had forcibly dragged down Richard's divinity from returning as well. It was just that nobody sensed it. Furthermore, he had been harvesting a lot of them since the moment he awakened. Especially, the divinities within the S-ranked warriors were bountiful.

"It looks like I have to be careful." He muttered.

"Damian, you dare disturb us?" A feminine voice resounded, along with horrible coercion, not inferior to him in any way.

"Are you challenging us?"

"Do you think he has the guts?"

"He is the youngest and the weakest one among us."

Following the female voice, more and more voices rang out, cursing him on the spot.

"Shut up!" Damian couldn't take it anymore. How dare they make fun of him?

"Humph! If you don't give us the reason, then don't blame us for teaching you a lesson." The feminine voice threatened him straightforwardly.

"Luna! Don't act arrogantly. Don't think I can't do anything to you? I am an immortal for a reason." Damian aura boiled to the extreme.

"Humph!" Luna snorted and didn't say anything more, realizing there was no point in fighting.

"So, what happened?" An old voice asked.

Damian took a deep breath and replied, "Someone is intervening in my affairs. I can't retain my divinity. I believe somebody here is harvesting my divinity using some means."

"What? How is that possible?"

The immortals were all in disbelief. Who can be so shameless among them? Didn't they come to the conclusion that it was forbidden to fight until the right time came?

"Maybe he's planning to show discord among us. How can we Immortals throw away our pride?" Luna spoke confidently.

"What do I get for lying? Plus, who knows if it's you messing up with me?" Damian didn't go easy on her.

"You…" Luna was speechless.

"Calm down you two. We will be keeping an eye on this matter from now on. I want no mishaps delaying that event." The old voice declared coldly, showcasing his authority.

Meanwhile, the Military was in chaos. The upper echelons were still gathered in the discussion hall. They were all staring at the clock hung on the wall with solemn expressions on their faces.

"It's been six hours already, and we still can't contact them. What do you all think did happen?" The old officer finally spoke, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Yeah. It's strange. There were no signs of battle either." Ellie nodded from his side.

"From the intel we gathered, there is a mysterious fog in their headquarters. Our vision, signals, communications, and everything is blocked there. Moreover, when we sent our officials to interrogate them, we learned that Sir Richard and Luther had arrived there, which we can indeed confirm." She reported the matter in detail.

"The surprising thing is that they had left four hours ago according to them." She added.

"Humm! Then where did they go? Did anyone notice them leaving? Our forces have been observing that place for many days. How could we have missed?" Sophia interjected.

"Yeah. It's suspicious."

"Did they allow you to enter the fog after that? I believe our answer lies there."

"Nope! They said their Lord had set up prohibitions there. Nobody can guarantee what would happen if one trespassed there."

"I see. But why is he referred to as a Lord in this era?"

"What does he think?"

"In addition, why are we Military being denied entry there? Where are our faces?"

"Are Sir Richard and Luther trapped by him within the fog using some devious means?"

"The matter seems serious. Let's notify our head office first."

"However, it's hard to believe that two of our heroes would get caught here. Are we missing something?"

They were in a state of disbelief, questioning each other's opinions. Helplessly, they could only leave in the end, hoping for answers from the headquarters before making a move.

Likewise, they were developing fear towards Cayden, the supposedly newborn S-ranked warrior.

"Phew! What a tiring day." The old officer, the last remaining member on the desk sighed worriedly, lighting up a cigarette from his pocket.

Poof!

Blowing a ring of smoke, he began murmuring, "Who are you? What do you desire? How strong are you? Are you really our enemy?"

Soon, the next week unfolded. It was gradually time for the auction instigated by the underground forces in B-city.

Early in the morning, a sedan drove towards the G-city airport from the Skull Gang. Yes, it had Bryan driving and Cayden sitting in the back.

"My Lord! Why did you suddenly change your mind? You weren't interested previously." Bryan couldn't help but question.

He was shell-shocked when the Lord abruptly called him yesterday and commanded him to set off the next day. He was sweating all night making preparations for it in a hurry.

"I just had a notion that I had to go," Cayden spoke calmly, not elaborating further.

This was the intuition of higher life forms. They had the foresight to sense future encounters and dangers. Mainly, those who had studied the stars and mastered the law of divining could do so.

Although Cayden was far from that level currently, he still had a little bit of capability. On top of that, he felt there was something important to him lying in B-city; a type of connection.

"I understand." Bryan nodded with awe written on his face.

"Anyways, how do those underground forces give away invitations? Do they invite all the gangs there?" Cayden asked curiously.

"No! It would be too many. They only invite the popular gangs having a considerable amount of strength. I heard that the minimum requirement was having at least five B-ranked warriors." Bryan answered.

"Then why are we invited?" Cayden knew how weak the Skull Gang was.

"It should be because of you. Beating up Swordmaster Igor and annihilating two gangs have bolstered your fame. Without you even trying, you have already gotten famous in the underworld. That's why we have received a special invitation." Bryan was full of smiles.

"I believe they consider you an A-ranked expert." He shook his head wryly.

Cayden smirked and simply closed his eyes, taking a rest. Nonetheless, he got irritated in a couple of minutes.

"Who do you think is tracking us?" Cayden opened his eyes coldly, sensing lots of eyes prying at him.

"It should be the guilds and the military. I too have detected some of them around our place. Nevertheless, there is nothing we can do. The technology is way advanced for us to take countermeasures." Beads of sweat could be seen on Bryan's face.

Was he going to glimpse blood this early?

Contrary to his expectation, he merely saw strands of the Lord's hair shooting in all directions from the windows of his vehicle at the speed of light. Thus, the result could be imagined.

"Ahh! Suicide!"

"Look! Someone fell from that building."

"There too…"

"What? There is a person convulsing on the streets."

"Blood!!!"

"Help him!"

Similar shouts of the public were heard everywhere, alerting the police force in the vicinity. Yet, the perpetrator of the incident had long since disappeared.

"My Lord! We are here. Now we need to take an airplane heading to B-city." Bryan said shamefully, having a red face.

"Humm! Why's your reaction unusual? Is there a problem?" Cayden raised his brow.

"I am sorry. Neither could I buy a private jet for you nor could I book a private flight for you. Therefore, we have to take the trip on a public one." Bryan apologized.

"What's the problem with that?" Cayden didn't find any problems with that since he was new here.

"How could that be? A person of your status should be arriving in a grandeur fashion. This isn't acceptable." Bryan was furious.

"I get it. Is the military behind this as well?" Cayden guessed.

"Yes. They froze our bank accounts. They are taking extreme measures against us. Who knows whether our cell phones will get blocked next?" Bryan finally revealed the problems bugging him the whole night.

"They might be warning us." He clenched his fists.

"Are they forcing me to make an appearance?" His eyes radiated a cold glare, sending chills down Bryan's spine.

"My Lord! They might be preparing a trap for you there." Bryan reminded him.

"Humph! I don't need your concern. Besides, do you think that they can harm me? If I want, I can flatten the military you people are depending on in the blink of an eye." Cayden scoffed.

"Lord, you shouldn't do that. Otherwise, this world will be a living hell." Bryan tried to restrain him, not doubting his words one bit.

Despite despising the military, he knew how important they were in maintaining order and protecting mankind. Being human himself, he had the same responsibility as them.

"They better behave then." Cayden left the sedan and Bryan hurriedly followed behind him wiping his sweat.
