"Took you a long time."
Seeing the kid walking out, the corner of Cayden's lip was slightly lifted upward.
"I am sorry. It took me some time to bury them." Bryan lowered his head, wiping the traces of blood on his hands.
"Humm, I don't think I ordered you that." Cayden's expression became a bit colder.
"My Lord, it would be troublesome if the officials find out." Bryan blurted out while clutching his fists.
"Haha, forget it. Lead the way." Catching the glimpse of fear, hate, and resentment radiating from his eyes, Cayden couldn't help but get intoxicated.
"How long has it been?" He sighed, looking at the beautiful moon in the sky.
Recollecting his thoughts, he commanded, "Explain to me the distribution of power in this world."
"Yes." On the way out to the exit, Bryan described everything he knew.
Currently, there were twenty-six cities equaling the letters in the English alphabet. They were each led by top-notch A-class heroes, who had established their own guilds taking in a lot of awakeners.
Despite such a large number of divisions, there was not much conflict because of the presence of the Military. They were formed by the strongest people on the continent, the S-class warriors. The ones known to have received divine grace. They oversee everything and are responsible for protecting everyone.
Besides, most of the warriors above B rank were on missions in the nearby continents where the military have built secret bases. As for Bryan and his gang, they were someone who didn't possess enough talent to get into the guilds. That's why they had to team up and work like mercenaries in such a place, doing dirty work.
"Lord, it's here." After exiting the forest, Bryan pointed to a large army jeep on the roadside and told him what its purpose was.
"Interesting. Sounds like spiritual carriages from the cultivation world." Cayden's eyes lit up.
Although he had traveled to hundreds of worlds in myriad realms, he had never seen such a strange world. There were towering buildings, strange boards flashing various images and colorful lights flaring here and there.
Things called vehicles created noise and blew past the paved roads. Occasionally, ships having wings flew in the air. Shops were open everywhere with the crowd bustling even at midnight.
People wearing odd clothes moved around with some even carrying huge suitcases. According to Bryan, they were weapons used by warriors. From time to time, they would also notice them.
Especially, he, who was very eye-catching. Many women would even throw flirtatious glances, hoping to strike up a conversation. However, they would soon break out in a cold sweat after gazing at him for a couple of seconds, forcing them to immediately run away. The same went for warriors and children who wanted to praise him for his cosplay.
Seeing this, he shook his head. "It seems like I have to do something about my appearance soon. It's too conspicuous. For that, I have to first reach the Qi refining realm."
"Lord, you may enter." Bryan's calm voice brought him back to his senses. It looked like he managed to restrain his emotions.
"Ok!" Sitting on the front seat, he observed the surroundings curiously while Bryan drove along the road.
"Who could have thought that even without spiritual energy, a world could progress in this manner? Technology appears to be convenient; much more to the mortals. At present, the spiritual energy has emerged; so how far can this world progress?" He let his imagination run wild, anticipating the future.
But his face suddenly frowned. "We are being followed."
"What?" Bryan carefully peered at the side and back mirrors, and he did indeed see a black sneaky car behind them. It was cunningly chasing them through every turn and direction.
"Bastard!" He cursed as he sped up the car.
Nevertheless, that car didn't slow down. They didn't bother being too obvious as it continued coming after them. Soon, more and more cars appeared in their vision.
"Fuck!" Bryan took out his mobile phone and dialed a number, contacting it straight away.
Once it was connected, he shouted, "Bring reinforcements at street number 37."
"What happened?" A hoarse voice sounded from the other side.
Bang!Bang!
Before he could reply, a couple of gunshots were heard in the air.
Unfortunately, some managed to puncture the wheels, causing the jeep to go out of control and crash into a nearby building.
Bang!
Smoke and dust rose into the air.
Civilians panicked and fled the scene.
Only a few warriors had the courage and were observing from a distance with amazement.
"My lord? Are you fine?" Bryan turned to his left.
"Eh! Where did he go?" He couldn't believe it was empty.
"Damn! Now, how can I deal with this situation?" He started sweating when arrogant voices were heard from outside.
"Bastards from the Skull Gang. Bring your asses out here."
Knowing they were from the Poisonous Viper Gang; Bryan's expression became ugly. So, he hid a knife under his sleeves and slowly came out.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"Haha, we were tracking you guys the moment you all entered the forest. Then only two of you came out. So, where is Adam? Did you guys find some treasures there?" A tattooed bald man wearing green jeans, questioned.
"Also, take out everything you have. Don't try to play tricks. Our men are already on their way to the forest as well." He laughed.
Bryan became furious when he listened to the name Adam. His anger burst out like a volcano and he disappeared from the spot, materializing behind the bald man.
Swish!
A long gash appeared on his neck as the bald man fell down with blood dripping on the ground.
"Fuck! How dare he?"
"He has teleportation abilities. Be careful!"
"Kill him!"
Everyone took out their weapons and rushed after him.
Clang! Clang! Bang! Bang!
While the battle was happening there, a woman wearing a full black tight dress with a hat over her head and a mask covering her face was keeping an eye on everything with a binocular.
She was on the top floor of an apartment, looking carefree, not perceiving that a shadow was standing right next to her.
"It's you woman, watching us for a long time. You should know people hate that feeling."
Only when the shadow spoke, did she jump out in fright. Nonetheless, it was already too late.
A strong hand grabbed her by her neck and lifted her up, dragging her to the edge of the balcony.
"You have a minute to blurt out everything." There was a chill in his voice.
Feeling her blood and mana flow ceasing, she gave up resistance and babbled out everything.
"Eh! Poisonous Viper Gang"
"Here I thought that it was some of my previous enemies. It looks like I was just being sensitive. Those old fools have succeeded in leaving a shadow in my heart." He muttered.
"As for you, consider this your bad luck. Besides, I will remember this grudge." His hair pierced her skull, taking away the trace of divinity and her life.
Next, he flung her body which fell down exactly at the place where Bryan was fighting.
Boom!
A heavy sound alerted everyone in the vicinity as they paused their battle.
"Robin!"
"How is she dead?"
"She was a genuine B-rank warrior with insane hiding and tracking skills."
They were in a state of disbelief.
"It must be the Lord." Bryan stood up with several injuries and bullet holes all over his body.
"Haha, do you still want to continue? My Skull Gang leader is already here." He yelled confidently, showing his tough side.
"Is this true?" Without Robin, they didn't have the chance of knowing the truth. Moreover, just hearing the Gang Leader scared them out of their wits.
"Fall Back!"
The gangsters ran back to their vehicles and burst off in a hurry. At the same time, from the opposite direction, a series of jeeps were making their way.
"Fuck! It is the Skull Gang."
"We will ram past them."
Bang!Bang!Bang!
Another round of gunfire and crashing sounds rattled in the air. Yet, they didn't last long since police sirens were discerned nearby them.
"Run!"
"Hey, Bryan! Why are you hanging outside? Jump in already." A sports car slid ahead of him and the back door was opened.
"Wait there…" He didn't even get the chance to finish his sentence when someone pushed him inside.
"Let's go."
Hearing the indifferent voice, he didn't need to guess who it was. It was definitely the Lord.
"Who is he?" The driver questioned. But Bryan slapped him on his head and yelled, panting painfully, "Return back first."
"I know."
Whoosh!
The car drifted from everyone's vision and the police were left behind in the dust.
A while later in the car,
"Whew! We have escaped. Who knows how the police would have smacked us in jail?" The driver sighed in relief.
"Now can you tell me why are you alone? What happened to the Boss? Who is this man?" He asked questions one after another.
Bryan didn't speak and shook his head sorrowfully.
"They are all dead. The Poisonous Viper Gang took everything away from us."
The moment he said this, he felt a deep sense of powerlessness. Even the bandage he was using to stitch his wounds, dropped on the seat because of frustration.
He didn't have the courage to point to the person right next to him. He felt extremely sour as he remembered the events. After all, he was the one who did it in the end. He was lying about everything.
