"Mum, mum, are you okay?"
I had left Vee at the penthouse. She was feeling better. I still couldn't believe the silly thing I did that night could yield so much. At least now we will have a baby to talk about. It was too much for me trying to lie to Kendra that we are expecting while it was all a coarse.
It's a weekend, but for the weekend, I don't have any time to rest because I had to focus on some business. The projects I had lying around needed to be finished before the new week begins. Vee had been in my mind lately I couldn't focus. She makes a good and bad destruction. Surprisingly, through her, I get some ideas and working on my unfinished projects, I was able to complete some before my mother rang my phone.
My secretary was not around to pick my call. I had to do it all alone. My mother never calls unless its urgent. The first idea that came into my mind, was either, she was not feeling well and needed me to get to her.
I didn't think of another reason why she will call. She hadn't been feeling we lately. I fear her cancer is creeping back. Though she doesn't like talking about it, I am always worried about it.
I slide through the screen but all I can hear is my mother breathing up and down, then some heavy and light footsteps approaching her. She doesn't talk instead, her phone is muted. It's hard to know what is going on.
Trying to call her name, but I can't hear anything. I quickly call Mike. Jumping from my seat, I rush to the door only to be met with Mike at the elevator door.
"Can you call the main house and ask them to look after my mother, she called but her phone has been muted."
Mike quickly used the ready channel and called. It's not like mum doesn't know how to use a smartphone. She is a pro. Most of the time she helps to manage the company's social media. She lived the way Vee does the work and had asked me to recruit her but I didn't want the collision that came with Kendra.
"They said, your mum left to go to Your house, let me confirm it," said Mike while the elevator stopped on the ground floor and we took the car back to my house.
I wasn't ready to face Kendra. I didn't know why she can't accept some things. Right now it was not about her. I tried to call her but her phone was turned off. Maybe she is still mad. I know I am doing the wrong thing but I can't help myself. Vee knows how to make someone feel comfortable. Shit, why can't I be like dad?
I still remember when he will advise me on the type of woman to date, "they will either build you or destroy you." This a simple piece of advice that I tried to follow but, I don't know who is going to build me. Maybe I am too focused on my business and I don't want to see who is going to do the work of building me up.
On a second attempt, there was no one in the house. I looked over to Mike, he was also trying his best and the second my family phone went through, he looked over at me with a sorry face, I grabbed the phone from his hands and listened through it.
"What do you mean you can't find my mother in the house, what about, Kendra, is she in the house?" I asked trying to sound calm.
I wasn't calm, the tie that Vee had helped to tie neatly on my neck was annoying me. I quickly to pulled it off and threw it on the ground. The car was too hot for me, I removed my coat and unbuttoned my shirt. Vee had done a nice job. She picked this suit from the various pile and came up with good taste but right now I was not interested in any of it. My mind was all over the place, trying to wonder where my mother would have gone to.
"Find her, use the security system, what do you mean you had a problem with them, I thought that was already fixed. NO! Fuck, you better find my mother or I will fire both of you and throw you in jail!"
I wasn't thinking, whatever I was saying here, was mixed with anger. It wasn't because Kedra was not picking up my calls or because her phone was off or because..... No, it's because I can't seem to get hold of my mother. The second time, I tried to call her and her phone was completely off. Even I can't locate her on my friend's app.
Punching the seat, The driver almost lost control because I was making it hard for her to drive carefully, she quickly pushed her chair to allow her to drive carefully.
I looked over at the phone and the first person that came to my mind was Vee, with just one ring, she answered the phone.
"Xander, you okay?" she asked first, I didn't say, hello, first. "Xander!" She called again this time around her voice was filled with worry.
"I can't get hold of my mum, I don't know where she is but I can't find her." I was crying. I am never vulnerable around people. I don't know why I feel this way when speaking to Vee.
"Hey, she is going to be fine, try not to punch anything, or get mad easily, have you tried asking Sofie about it?" she asked calmly. I sniffed and told her, no, she offered to call Sofie for me. I don't know, Sofie has not been around. She is in Millan trying to put her fashion pieces together.
"I don't know what to do, Vee," I said. This was not me, at least not the Alexander White that I know of. The Alexander I know of would have called and shouted at everything even a fucking stone to demand answers. Talking to Vee, I realized my emotions are dissolved and I am vulnerable.
"It's gonna be okay, swee, okay, just go home and try to dig slowly. I know Sofie will fly in with the first call. Please tell me if you find her, bye."
I looked at the screen not wanting to let her go, "can you please stay on the call?" I asked.
"Hey, I need to speak to Sofie, I can't do it by staying on the call."
She was right. Sofie needed to be briefed on all the things.
I let her call Sofie. Kendra's ID was on my phone after the call. I wanted to let the call go unanswered but I quickly answered it, maybe she might have found my mother. Surprisingly, she was saying, hey and saying that she is going to her mum's house.
I don't know why she is unbothered. If mum was in the house, why didn't she see her? I mean, she was supposed to see my mother when she got inside the house. Maybe she was closed in the bedroom and didn't want to see anybody or maybe, choosing the perfect baby bump to put on.
I ended the call. I wanted to get home quickly, I wanted to see my mum's face. Maybe something happened to her. Maybe someone sneaked into the house... Wait, "Mike, can you ask the security to check over if there was any sign of breaking in, or did any servant see them?"
That was the only thing that came into my mind. Someone might have broken into the house and grabbed her. Then she tried to call me and tell me about it but the intruder had reached her. Maybe I should wait for a ransom call from anybody.
"Sir, we need to head to, Luck Summer hospital, they say a woman who looks like your mum has been admitted just now!"
Mike shouted and the driver changed the gear right away, the tires screeching all over the road, leaving only the white smoke on it. The other vehicles started honking at us but I didn't care. Since it was hard to use a different lane, I ordered we use the same, Lane. I know it's dangerous but that is the only thing I can do. We used the same lane, put on the siren, and let people think it was something urgent, an emergency.
"You better step on that gas!" I shouted at the driver. Meanwhile, I called Vee to tell her about the news. I know she wants to come but I can't allow her to be in the hospital. They will start an argument with Kendra and I can't be a part of that.
"Why are you shutting me out? I know I did something bad and your mum is angry at me, but that doesn't mean I can't see her?" She said in an angry tone.
"You are no one in that Family, just sit home!"
This time round, she ended the call without responding. Mike looked over at me. I didn't know what got over me, I know very well that Kendra will get mad because I didn't tell her first.
The guard was already in the area, my heart sank, and I knew my mom was not well. The way the guards were searching for everyone around before they allow them in, meant things were not okay.
I jumped from the car before it stopped and rushed over. I wanted to go over but the doctor could t allow me. The guards were told to restrain me. Mike run over and held me down. He made sure I was not going anywhere.
"Stop holding me!"
