As the dead of night settled, Halger was tired of having to stop the people from breaking into his house.
As much as he has bragging rights to the chieftains representatives, he had to maintain priority for his family safety. After all, Garth was a bit tongue tied with the druids, trying to argue the course of action.
His mother-in-law, Freja Revr, had to go tell her family the good news of a new addition to their family, thus he had to send her off. The only thing that Halger fear the most is when her husband, his father-in-law, Thover Medved, would try to kidnap his family again.
It wasn't because he's a slimy deceiving rat, nor was his relationship with Hera was terrible. Thover Medved loved his only daughter as he did with his sons. He loves Hera and her children so much that he'd raid the entire peninsula for them. Needless to say how would he react if he meets Reginald?
Halger went to check his eldest son, Bjorn, to see if he's soundly asleep. As he opened the door, he saw his son sleeping sideways. He approached his bed as he tucks Bjorn leather blanket up to his shoulders. Although Bjorn was drowsy, he was startled by the huge hand tucking him in and turned his face over his shoulder.
"Oh, sorry about that, Bjorn. Didn't mean to wake you." Halger nearly stumbled upon him.
"I just want to check up on you, see how you're doing."
Bjorn had practice sparring against other children. They're called eggs, children who are starting training their bodies for hunting and fighting. Those who completed their training moved on to become hatchlings, where they are sent out and gain experience from said training. Once they proven themselves to be capable of producing results, they become the eagles, where they are eligible to be part of the tribe's warband.
Everyday, he would try to show off his skills in front of everyone present, demonstrating his dominance and establishing his reputation. As the chieftain son, he was expected to lead the next generation once Halger time has come.
However, ever since his mother became pregnant, strange things were happening throughout the land. Though he hasn't noticed the changes, it was when the outside druids came over. He felt neglected, seeing how everyone started to celebrate the coming of birth. Some of his classmates started to attend one of the druid gatherings where they discuss about the gods. He began to pick fights against his fellow classmates, until he was beaten up by them as they snapped. The instructors had to stop them from accidentally killing each other.
"You want to talk about it?"
"No." Bjorn turned back his head as he hide his face from his father's eyes.
Halger pressed his hand on Bjorn red hair as he sat on his bed beside him.
"When I heard that my son had knocked down 4 eggs, I was surprise you had it in ye. Scaring bunch of children, that'll teach em' a lesson." He smirked.
"I didn't want to! They just kept bugging me to see mom! They kept saying that because the druids wanted to see her." Bjorn sat upwards as he faced his father, crying.
"Is it a boy?" He asked.
Halger furrow his eyebrows.
"You'll have a brother." He answered, trying to state it as a good thing.
Bjorn immediately laid down as he cover himself in the blanket, sobbing.
"H-hey now, what's wrong? Shouldn't you be happy that you'll be getting a new baby brother?"
"No dad! Everyone keeps talking that if I have a little brother, I won't become chieftain! It's as if they're mocking me, so I punch and kick them till they stop talking!"
Halger tried to hug his son as he rubbed his shoulders.
"Bjorn, you shouldn't take their words for granted. You're my son, thus they're in the wrong for badmouthing their chief. Besides, if you keep proving yourself, I'm sure you'll be acknowledged by others." Halger tried to rip off the blanket from Bjorn face, but he kept a tight grip.
"Go away! Leave me alone, I don't want to get in the way with your new stupid son!" Bjorn stubbornly kept the blanket.
If Halger had any experience with 6-year-old kids, it's that he had to assure him that his love is genuine.
Halger stayed with his son for some time until Bjorn fallen asleep.
He frowned, thinking that he may not have send the message to his ignorant son's tantrum. He walked out of his room, sighing in defeat. As he was about to close the door, he made one last sentence before departing.
"Good night, son."
As Halger was walking to his bedroom to check on his wife and baby boy, Garth approached him. His rugged eyes said it all, as the druid hailed him.
"Halger… the druids are backing off for now. They agreed that it has been an eventful month, thus they need to return to their tribes."
"I can't thank you enough for this. Those vultures boggled their eyes on Hera too many times, I fear what they'll do to little Reginald." Halger nodded as he continue walking to his bedroom.
"We still need to discuss the future as this will not end here. The others are still anxious what the birth of the child is intended by the gods."
"Shouldn't you druids believe that the gods blessings are obvious? Haven't they seen the aurora lights before them?"
"It's not as simple as that, chief. Although this miracle is undoubtedly a blessing, it could spew a sinister omen, perhaps even trickery by the dark spirits that haunts to this very day. We have envied eyes chewing at the chance to kidnap the boy."
"Then they'll have to pry mah' baby from these cold dead hands. Unless they want me to split their skulls, they should just let it go."
"Then what if it were the gods?"
Halger stopped halfway to his bedroom.
He glared at Garth who kept his hand in his sleeves, trying to distract himself.
"For all we know, there must be a reason why the gods grant us the opportunity to be graced by them." Garth took out a leather scroll.
"This was a gift from the Fjall tribe's elder. They requesting that we send them the boy under their care."
"So, those obnoxious little b!tches are making their move, huh? Those morons keep spewing nonsense about being gods chosen people. When we're finally been blessed by the gods, they'll start to cozying up to us."
"That is indeed the situation. Because of the child, the Fjalls are trying to deter other tribes from interacting with us. Not only that, I fear that they're trying to assimilate us into their tribe." Garth put away the scroll as he rubbed his head.
"Then what does it have to do with our gods? Even before my grandfather's time, we have no clue who they are and what they look like." Halger was stressed out of his mind.
"It couldn't be helped. What I do know is that it's up to them to decide our fate." Garth shrugged.
As Halger approached the door, he started to hear voices in there.
"Garth, go get the guards and tell them to come here…" Halger froze before the door.
"Huh? What's wrong?"
Halger tried to open the door. When he tried to pull the door handle, it wouldn't budge.
"Go, NOW!"
*Yaaawwwn* the little baby squirmed around himself.
It's none other than Reginald, the boy who was reborn into the fantasy world. At least in his perspective. He tried to open his eyes, but being an infant has its limits. He tried to flip to his belly, but his dangly little arms and legs couldn't life him.
Nevertheless, being a baby has its perks. Especially being pampered by a huge women, which he assumes his mother.
'God that came out wrong…' he thought.
He tried to look around, but he's in a wooden box, thus could only see upwards.
'Dammit, I'm trapped. How am I supposed to see where am I?' Reginald started to tear up.
As much as he squirmed, he couldn't do much. He's a helpless baby after all.
A few time has passed as Reginald tried to sleep. When he was about to give in to the dream world, he heard a creaking sound of something opening.
A blue light started to flood in. It wasn't the orange light from what he assume is the fireplace, because of it's crackling.
No, the light is somewhat refine naturally, so Reginald believed that someone opened the window.
He could hear three footsteps coming closer to his crib.
He began to bawl out loud as he moved his arms and legs to get someone's attention.
Needless to say, Hera, his mother, woke up and saw three strange people approaching the cradle.
"WHO DA F@CK ARE YE?! STAY BACK!" Hera began to grab a hatchet below the bed.
As she was about to leap forward towards the intruders, a women in blue cast her hand out and begin to chant.
"[Sleep]."
Hera, who was prepping for war, fell back to the bed, dropping the hatchet. She snores like a bear.
Reginald, who heard the commotion, was stunned by the turn of events.
'Was that magic!? They have a mage among them?!'
Reginald remains quiet as possible, hoping they ignore him.
As he closed his eyes, he felt a pair of hands wrapping around him and picking him up.
Reginald opened his eyes to see three perpetrators before him.
The women in blue wore a silky purple toga, with sapphire like trimmings above her waist. She wore what seem like seashells on her chest, but if he had to look closer, he give a misunderstanding. Her icy sharp eyes peered into Reginald as he tried to look at the other two.
The man to her right had a bronze like tree branches sticking through his hair. He wore a dark green robes with a leather vest that depicted trees. His green eyes seem calming beside the other two.
And finally, the man to her left had red hair with gold tips that seem to be on fire. He wore what look to be a berserker that Reginald imagined in his past life, wearing a scaly leather hide as pants and two Paul drown at his shoulder. One is a dragon's scull, while another seem to be a burnt metal he never seen before. The eyes seem to glow with every flicker that passed.
"Hello little one. You've been given the gift of life from our mother." The lady said as she turned to the other two.
"So this is the prophesied child. That's a big baby if I'd ever seen." The red man spoked. His voice seemed hoarse as the tried to pinch the baby cheeks.
The green man grabbed his hand.
"Brother, don't do that. Every infant are quite vulnerable because their skin aren't hard enough to handle pressure. You should think before you act." The green man stated as he grips the other's hand.
The red man shook away the hand as he glared at him.
"Don't you think I know that? Our mother sent us this little thing. Did you expect her to answer her own children despite ignoring us for so long?"
"Now now brothers." Said the blue women carrying the baby.
"It's been too long since I heard her voice. The fact that she lead us here is enough to convince me that she hasn't abandon us yet."
"Easy for you to say, you two were mother's favorite. I had to do the heavy lifting in order to exist in this forsaken wasteland."
"Oooooh." the baby mused.
Reginald didn't really want to intrude on what they're discussing, but he was too curious that he couldn't help but get their attention.
The three looked at the baby dumbfounded.
"Ummm… I don't this is an average baby." The green one said.
"Do you have dirt stuffed in your ear? Of course this isn't a normal baby! How can a mere baby make this much commotion?!"
"I think I remembered mother said that the baby can already comprehend words. Is that true little one?" She asked
Reginald nodded as the other were stunned by the baby's intelligence.
"Huh, well burnt me a campfire, this ball of flesh is pretty good."
"Don't say it like that! You'll only scare the infant!"
"Geeeh!" The baby waved his little fist around.
Reginald was getting too uncomfortable with these people. Just who are they?
"Brothers, I think we should properly introduce ourselves. If this child truly is the reason why mother sent us here, then it's best that we get acquaintance with each other."
The green man nodded, while the red one hesitated, but complied.
"Now then little one, Reginald isn't it? My name is Salacia, elementalist of water." She smiled.
Reginald turn his head to the other two.
"I am Cernunnos, the elementalist of earth." He straighten up.
"Guess I'm next… I'm Ilgiz, elementalist of fire, scourger of the void, slayer of the Winter Queen, Destroyer of Cthulhu, SAVIOR OF TH-" Ilgiz was about to make his dramatic pose.
"The child barely knows you, let alone anyone else for that matter." Cernunnos interrupted.
"Look who's talking, tree hugger! All we have are these foreigners to worship us! If we had stepped in and stopped her, none of them would be annihilated." Ilgiz spoke in a spiteful tone.
"Brothers, please! This is the best I can do. We couldn't risk being in the crossfire at that time." Salacia frowned.
This is starting to sound vaguely familiar. A crossfire? Annihilation? Foreigners? Her?
Are they referring to Sothis?
What does she mean by couldn't stepped in?
What happened to the original inhabitants of this land?
Question started to plague Reginald's mind.
From what he remembered from the storyline, Sothis was believed to come from the Blue Sea Star that was theorized to be heaven. She came to Fódlan to help the original inhabitants called the Agarthans. Along with her children, they help make the land prosper. However, the Agarthans became greedy, prideful, and envious that they challenged the goddess. In the end, the Agartha civilization was annihilated, along the land as well. It took Sothis all her strength to restore life to it, leaving her in perpetual slumber.
Perhaps that's what they're talking about. Maybe he really isekaied to Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
"Ab ba ba pa ba?" Reginald tried to make the words again, but failed. He was trying to ask if he is in Fódlan.
The three frowned.
"Sorry Reginald. We have no idea what you're trying to say. We've been weaken for quite some time now, as the people forgotten us."
She then put Reginald back to his crib.
"What we can do is give you a piece of our blessings. This should help you on your journey." Cernunnos lend out his hand.
Both Ilgiz and Salacia also lend out their hands.
Red, green, and blue colors start to glow out of their hands as they imbedded their symbols to Reginald chest. It looked like the Triarch Doire crest that the druids were worshipping.
"There's one thing you must know." She said as her emblem is inscribed on him.
"Although I'm not sure why our mother wish to help you, she said that you can communicate with her by praying to the sky."
"You may call for our aid in your quest to do good for the world." Cernunnos stated.
"However, should you use it for evil, prepare the consequences of your actions." Ilgiz lowered his voice.
"We trust you to help the land where we had failed." They stated in unison.
The door was being hacked down by bronze blade as the men tried to break through. Halger, who held his battle axe, broken through the door as he scream in fury.
"WHO DARES TRESPASS THE HOME OF MAH' FAMILY!? PREPARE TO FACE THE 'RATH OF HALGER THE HUNGERY!" Halger's men charged in toward the three individuals.
However, when they gotten closer and closer, the slowed down, being at awe by the three.
"WHAT ARE YOU IDIOTS DOING!? PROTECT MY WIFE AND SON!" Halger charged as he was about to leaped toward the intruders.
However, something stopped him from getting closer.
They're near his baby as they seem to aimed their hands at him.
'Sh!t, they're holding him hostage! What is that light from their hands?!' As Halger tried to think, Garth, who was behind him, was shocked.
His rugged eyes that was swallowed by the dark circle immediately fade away as his wide eyes focus on them. He wasn't sure who they are, but for some reason, he had an urge to bow down and pray.
The three smiled at the people before them. It seems that even if the people had forgotten what they look like, their faith remains strong.
As they finished embedding their crest on Reginald. They turn to the window. As they walk towards there, Garth immediately genuflect has he stepped forward.
He tried to ask if they are what he think they are, but no words were able to come out of him.
He tried speak again, only to fail once more.
His head fell to despair as they continue walking. When two of them passed his way, one of them stopped.
Garth looked up to see a man dressed in green robes and a bronze crown was smiling at him.
The green man nodded as he walk toward the other two.
For the first time, since Garth taken the mantle of zeal, he kept his belief despite the people ignorance of the gods. Now, before his very eyes, he cried.
The three faded away as the approached the window.
Halger approached Hera as he tried to wake her up.
Hera, who's eyes were too tired, tried to grab the hatchet on the ground, but Halger stopped her.
It took her a moment to recover.
"W-What happened!? Where did those three go? Where's my baby?!" Hera rushed to the cradle as she shoves Halger to the side.
Within the cradle, Reginald had his chest tattooed an emblem of the Triarch Doire crest. Each of the colors glowed as the representation of their deities.
Halger, who followed behind, was stunned by the revelation.
For not only had the gods bless their child, they've finally blessed themselves before their very eyes.
The guards, too shocked to move, started to kneel down.
Witnessing the event before them, they'll undoubtedly tell the people about the gods descend from the heavens.
