While his parent and soon to be teacher brawl it out, Reginald crawled out the room, quietly as to avoid their attention.
He found the stairs that lead to the ground floor. Using his body, he carefully climb down until he was certain he reached the bottom.
Luckily, there doesn't seem to be guards, or at least anyone in particular that could stop him from reaching for the door.
The door seemed to be locked, as a piece of wood is keeping the two doors sealed.
'It seems I can't walk through the front door…'
Reginald continue to explore the surroundings, hoping that there would be a route outside.
He approached what seem to be a large chair. It was carved to depict a crude beast like bird he'd ever seen, while the armrest is scaled up by a mix of scales, furs, and feathers.
Reginald moved on as he crawled underneath the table. If he had to guess, it's probably a banquet hall so that the retinue of the chieftain may have a celebration.
Even so, he checked if there were windows in the building he could exploit.
Every single one of them were shut, as to keep the source of warmth from escaping.
That one particular night, Reginald recall that chilly sensation when he saw the snow. Each of the roof seem to be covered in it, but he was too preoccupied with the three.
Nevertheless, he sat below the table as he waited for the front door to opened.
A shout was pierced through the door.
"OIII! I'M HOME, LET ME IN!"
A man entered from the side of the room. He was wearing what seemed to be rags, given that he's a serf who happened to serve the household.
As he removed the wooden lock, he opened the door.
Sure enough, a boy who seem to be the age of 6 years old, came through as he walked toward the stairs.
He was accompanied by his classmates as they continue chatting about the instructor harshness. The man closed the door, but hasn't placed the wood back.
Reginald, noticed that they haven't locked the door, immediately crawls towards it. Because the concept of locking hasn't been well established in a medieval world, it was easy enough for Reginald to pull the door by the edges.
As he passed through, there are stony steps that he had to climb down again. But in front of him is nearly breath taking.
The clear sky revealed a shiny blue that seem to nearly glimmered. Pockets of mist scatter across the village, shading the vibrant texture of each household. There were so many people working at every second that Reginald eyes couldn't keep track.
Even so, he need to do this.
He wasn't sure if he'll get the answers he needed to understand his situation.
Once Reginald reached down a quarter of the stairway, he moved to the side of a snowy patch.
'Brrrrrrr, too cold.' Reginald thought as he sat down on his bottom.
If he recalled, they said that all he had to do is pray.
'Easier said than done.' Reginald closed his eyes as he tried to remember Minerva.
The fact that she had children despite her age makes him wonder if all deities are quite odd. Sothis is literally a lolicon at that point, not to mention her children.
Then again, they're dragons so it's pretty much in their perspective.
As his mind wandered about, Reginald couldn't hear the bustling village.
He open his eyes to see himself outside of, well everything.
The sky remained the same, but the ground he felt were too smooth.
Looking below, he saw what look like water reflecting off the sky. However, he couldn't see himself.
As Reginald determined whether or not the ground is water or is at the sky, a voice reached out.
"Hello Reginald, do you enjoy your new life?"
Reginald turned around as he see Minerva standing behind him.
"You may speak freely. This is my domain after all."
Reginald opened his mouth as he tried to test her claims.
"Aaaaah, uuuuuummm." So far, so good.
"Alright, love what you did to the place. Makes it… colorful."
She smiled.
"Kuh kuh kuh, this is a mere background of my design. Soon, you'll see what I have envisioned would only dwarf anything that exist."
"Well, if you don't mind, I like to ask something else." Reginald scoffed.
"First, allow me to make some ground rules." She smirked.
"You cannot rely on my powers to your own gains."
She flick her hand as the sky shattered into pieces. She then held her hand out, fixing the sky as if nothing happened.
"From now on, only I shall contact you from a different method." She launched an orb from her finger as it pierced his chest.
At first Reginald thought it might hurt, as he flinched his eyes. However, when he opened them slowly, he saw that his body is still whole.
The only differences is that his crest has a new color at the middle of the Triarch Doire. It has the appearance of a white marbled gemstone, only that it's etched on.
"And finally, you cannot request any information regarding this world."
Reginald, who was checking himself, turned to look at Minerva.
"I thought your children informed me that I may request your help as well." Reginald frowned.
"They stated that I CAN to help you, but I won't." She smirked.
"That's not how I remember it, otherwise you wouldn't bother telling your children to go this far."
"Are you dissatisfied? Have you not seen the gifts I granted you? You should be grateful I even bothered assisting you."
"What's the point of these so called gifts if I had no idea how to work with it? I still don't know if I'm really in Fire Emblem!"
She sighed.
"I guess that is a problem. From your perspective, I wouldn't even know when or where I would be. Very well, this is the only information I'll grant you, but the rest is on your own."
"Alright, where am I, also did you said when?"
"Nah uh uh, only I am allow to give that answer. Besides, where is the fun in that?"
"What do you mean?"
"The only thing I'll grant you is but a mere number. As of now, you're starting at 1162. That is all."
"1162? What does that mean?"
"Sadly, I'm quite busy with building my little project. You'll just have to figure it out."
Reginald began to fade as he checked his hands.
"One last thing, you'll be granted what you humans called a system. From there, I'll grant you task you may need to complete for some rewards. Go and speak with my children regarding that matter."
Reginald appeared back on the snowy patch.
He looked around once again to see that the village remained the same.
'Goddammit, how da' heck am I suppose to contact her children?'
For now, the number 1162 still lingered as he put more thought into it.
'Wait a second…. Does she mean eleven sixty-two? As in a year number?' It seem he figured out her small riddle.
It is the year where the main lead characters were born. He only remembered because it was Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri date of birth, 18 years before the game started.
'Even so, why did she give me the timeline?'
It wasn't like he could exploit that information. Regardless of the situation, if he were born either during the start of the game or a hundred years before, it wouldn't matter since he has to deal with the present.
'Then again, it's pretty nice to be born in the same era as the main cast.' Reginald smiled, thinking about their unique personalities.
Then, he nearly forgot something.
He's still a baby, a special baby at that.
Right now, someone should've noticed his absence.
Reginald climbed up to the door.
As he opened it, a creaking sound was heard.
When he peeked his head in, a bunch of men and women were frantically looking for something.
The sound of the door caught their attention as they saw a baby entering in.
Reginald felt the door was opened wide open, losing his grip of it.
What came out of it was a growling grizzly.
—————
"Reginald choose me and that's final!" Garth stomped his foot.
"As if! You wouldn't understand the joy a parent could feel when they witness their child progress!" Halger yelled.
"That child will carve his place into the annuals of history! He will need the greatest mind to guide him on the right path to enlightenment before the gods!"
"He'll learn all he needs to know from me! Mother knows best!" Hera pulled Garth collar.
The door opened.
"Hey Mom, Dad, Garth?" Bjorn was standing at the middle of the doorway. His classmates peeked from the corners as they watch what was unfold before them.
"What are ya'll doing?"
"We're having a contest to see who gets to teach your little brother. This shameless celibate is trying to steal him! Help me get rid of this fool!" Halger explained.
"After that, won't you help mommy teach Reginald how to walk?" Hera gently said.
"NO! Don't listen to them! These meat heads could barely comprehend teaching a dog, let alone taking care of an infant!" Garth was nearly choking as he was held up by Hera non steroid strength.
Bjorn was looking around the room as he then pointed out his finger.
"Sooo… where's the baby?"
The three adults paused for a moment as Hera put Garth down.
They looked around. There was no baby in sight.
"OH SH!T! Reginald escaped!" Halger lamented.
Hera ran out the room as she moved Bjorn aside.
"Where's my baby?!"
All three of them rushed to search through the rooms. The children followed behind them as they're curious if they're referring to the blessed baby.
As of now, the entire household is being searched.
Guards that were nearby, went through the room.
As a few minutes passed, Halger and Hera regrouped at the banquet hall.
"I CAN'T FIND REGINALD ANYWHERE! I THINK HE'S OUTSIDE!" She cried.
"Darling! Reginald couldn't break outside! The doors are too tall for him to open them…. You don't think someone took him?!" Halger panicked.
As the guards and servants continue to look throughly, the front door opened.
It was none other than Reginald peeking his head through the door.
Immediately, Halger pulled the door open to confirm that the baby was Reginald.
'Oh oh.' Reginald looked at the puffing giant before him.
Halger picked him up as his eyes turned red.
"You little runt! How dare you scare me to death?! Do you know what would happen to you if someone kidnapped you?!"
But then, Hera swooped in as she grabbed Reginald off his hand.
"OH LITTLE REGINALD! MOMMY WAS SO WORRIED! DON'T DO THAT EVER AGAIN!"
"Owh heh." Reginald couldn't help but to blurt out.
It seems that he has a long way to go before the main storyline starts.
