When she got there, Carla, the daughter of Mr. Dalgaard, the Tavern owner Saw her at the entrance. Carla never liked Luna. She felt jealous of the fact that she lived comfortably with her family. If her own father was the Councilor representing their town at the king's castle, their lives would have been so much better. And to top it off, Carla also likes Fredrick. For Luna to come to her Father's Tavern means only one thing, and that is to see Fredrick.
"Mother, the councilors daughter is here" Carla frowned while looking towards Luna's direction. "Hector's daughter? What does she want?" Mrs. Dalgaard asked. It was so obvious that the whole family disliked the Randle's Family. "Don't know, but I will find out."
She approached Luna but before she got to her, Erion, Fredricks' friend did. And Carla decided to wait and see how things played out. "Are you not Luna Randle? The Daughter of councilor Hector?" Erion enquired. "Well, yes I am" Luna responded rather taken aback. She knew he was a knight from his attire. But was surprised that he knew her name even though she does not know anything about him. "I am looking for Fredrick, have you seen him?" she continued, "Uhmm... He should be around back I think, come with me."
Fredrick spotted Luna at the entrance; he wasn't pleased but didn't show it. He acted all gentle as he always did when he was with the Randel's' Family. He never liked Luna or her family, he only played along all this while. Fredrick had his goal, and it was not to win the heart of a councilor's daughter, but to find a way to gain favor from the king and probably marry one of his daughters too. The only way he could be knighted was if he becomes closer to councilor Hector and his family to get their approval. The king is quite fond of Hector because he was noble with his work to the kingdom. And now, Fredrick is not only a knight, the second daughter, and princes somehow fell in love with his charm. How lucky he is that his plan worked out so well. He knew Luna liked him for more than a year now and he acted along so well, that no one noticed his intention. And now, he will not pretend any longer.
When Councilor hector realized his intent, it was already too late as he had vouched for him before the king. He felt betrayed and was moody during dinner with his family. How could he be fooled by his innocent looks. Hector thought Fredrick loved his daughter. He helped Fredrick become a knight by vouching for him before the king. But to his own surprise, Fredrick confessed his feelings for the princess and she reciprocated his love. And when Hector confronted him, he spoke ill of his family and went his way. Hector felt really stupid and used but couldn't admit that to his family.
"Luna, it's good to see you again," Fredrick pretended as he always did. "it's good to see you too, and you look amazing in your robe" she complimented him. "Thank you. How have you been? And how is Kaelan too?" he continued the act, "Kaelan is still the same, and I am fine too," she paused for a while, "... I thought you would come visit. You promised to come to see me."
"Oh, right... things were going according to plan that I forgot about that," he said, "what plans?" Luna had no idea of what he was talking about but she also noticed that his countenance changed. He had a smirk on his face and he looked at her in a rather unpleasant way.
"The plans to get me what I want," he stood up from where he was seated and approached her slowly, "you've grown to be a really beautiful woman, I must say" he came so close that she could feel his breath on her face. He then traced his finger from her cheek down to her neckline. She was surprised by his sudden change of character and what he just did, disgusted her but she tried ignoring it. It is her first time being approached by a man, and not just any man, this is Fredrick whom she had liked for so long. But why does she feel disgusted?
"Stop," she said, taking a step backward. "Why? You don't like it? You don't like how I... touch you?" He kept coming closer and Luna took steps backwards until she reached the wall. Now, fear began to creep into her mind. Frederick sudden change of character and the way he looked at her like he wanted to have an affair with her scares her so much "Don't you like me anymore? Why are you now acting all innocent!" He raised his voice at her. Luna was already shaking but tried to look composed. "I shouldn't have come here, excuse me" she turned to leave then he suddenly grabbed her left hand and pushed her to the wall. Now she couldn't hide her fears. She was scared to her bones. The grip of his hands on her was so tight that she couldn't jerk her hands off. "Let me go!" Her voice was shaking with fear. And instead, Frederick gave a sinister smile. "I cannot believe I put up with you and your family for so many years. But not to worry, I will make you have a taste of me" he whispered into her ears.
Luna felt so disgusted, hurt and fooled. All these years that he stayed with her family is all on false pretense. And to think that she had longed for him to reciprocate her feelings, "He is different from who he was and I cannot believe this is happening to me. Why did I come here why!" she said in her thoughts. He grabbed her waist and wanted to kiss her by force, she fought back by closing her lips and avoiding his lips. She wanted to scream and he covered her mouth. "What will you gain by shouting? Have you forgotten what this place is? And what will people say when they find out that the Noble councilors daughter is doing with the beloved knight of their town? You wouldn't want to destroy your fathers' reputation, would you? He said with no remorse or feelings. "Let me go!" she was fierce and was fuming. Carla, the daughter of Mr. Dalgaard had succeeded in spreading a false rumor among the people in the tavern. Telling them of how the councilors daughter have been flirting with Fredrick.
Luna got out of Fredricks grip and inside the tavern, all eyes were on her. People began to whisper between themselves. She looked at her clothes and it was disheveled. She unconsciously used her hand to cover her chest. She felt embarrassed. The piercing eyes of the people were unbearable and she could not move. After trying to take few steps, a man from the crowed said "can you warm my bed as well?" the crowed laughed. She was humiliated. She could not hold back the tears. She ran out of the tavern and didn't stop. How could she be humiliated like this? No one knew the truth of the story and they all judged immediately. Has she ruined her reputation and that of her family just like that? She ran towards the lake side, which was the opposite road to her home. When she was a kid, Kaelan and Luna used to visit a secluded part of the lake for a swim, the lake was not too deep so they always had fun swimming at the lake side.
