"My brother and parents might be worried sick right now", I thought to myself. I put on my shoes and hurried out of the lakeside. I got out and saw a few torches afar off,
"Luna!!, where are you!?" I heard my brother's voice. "I am over here!" I waved my hands in the air for him to see where I was. My brother hurried towards me and gave me a hug, "are you alright? Are you hurt? Why are you all drenched?" I could tell that he was worried sick. And I can imagine how my mother will be right now, "I am fine, I went for a swim at the lake,"
"this late!? Aren't you afraid? It can be dangerous!" He is not just worried; he is now angry with me.
"I just needed a swim; I didn't know when it became dark. Let's go home, I feel cold, okay?" he yielded and put his jacket round my shoulders.
I assured everyone that I was okay when I got home. I changed into dry clothes and dried my hair with a towel, then I brought out my diary and started scribbling all I could remember of the event at the lake. I was curious and had many questions. "I will definitely visit the lake tomorrow at dawn" I told myself.

At the other side of the boundary.
ARAZOD'S POV
After lots of research on humans and the magical boundary, my curiosity increased day by day. "If I could just see a glimpse of a real human, I will be fulfilled, and my research is not in vain." I assured myself that it can be possible. But I have visited this lake more than I could count and I am about to give up. I took the potion that allows me to see and appear beyond the boundary and dived into the lake. I stayed in for hours like I usually do, then what I wished for finally came to pass. Someone dived into the water as well.
I looked up and I was amazed at what I saw. It was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. A petite human girl. She had a rather short black hair that flowed gracefully with the water current. I felt my heartbeat increased. For no real reason but I had an inexplainable feeling for a short while, like this moment was meant to happen and she is someone my heart yearns for. I couldn't take my eyes off, I just couldn't. That was when I noticed she was almost out of breath, I casted a spell for breathing on her which its effect will last for days because I would love to meet her again. I thought I would be satisfied by just seeing a human being. But now, I want more.
"Okay... I think something interesting happened this time around. Did you see anything?" Roloan asked me as I put on my shirt and covered my chest due to the huge birth mark on it. I was told by my parents to keep it hidden no matter what. And it had to do with a past life of mine which I have no memory of. Only a few people know about it, Roloan is my childhood friend and a close confidant.
"Yes," I said. Still remembering her face all over again. I didn't know when a smile appeared on my face.
Roloan's curiosity grew even more, "and... tell me!!!" I paused for a while... "she had paled skin and..." I trailed off for a while, "she is the most beautiful human girl i have ever seen"
"Okay, I did not expect that response from you. But basically, she is the only human girl you've met. Let's get out of here before one of the guards see us." We untied our horses and rode back home that night.
Arazod's POV
My name is Arazod, born to high mage Gaius, one of the strongest sky mages in the Land of Jordia. And Lorenna, my mother, who is a water mage.
A few days after I was born, stars of the night sky burnt themselves out of my skin, and what baffles my parents was the huge star symbol engraved on my chest. When it appeared, my parents felt I might be the reincarnation of the great Arch mage A'vous. Because history tells of his return and before his death, he had an ever-glowing star symbol that appeared on his chest during the war between the humans and the elves hundreds of years ago. And I was instructed by my parents to never show it. I always wear clothes that cover my chest so well because whenever I perform magic, the star symbol seems to glow. I wasn't embarrassed about it. But I had to follow my parents' instructions.
Roloan on the other hand was an orphan; his parents were once refugees from the Land of Magmarion. Unfortunately, they died, and my father took him in. And we both attended the Elvin school of magic, and our ordination was around the corner.
Roloan has an affinity to the sun, which will make him a Fire mage. But I am a sky and water mage at the same time, I can bend water and harness the wind, change the weather for a short time, which was rare but my mother said I could have affinity to other sources of magic and when I do discover it, I should never let anyone know about it. The only person who had an affinity to all sources of magic was the great arch-mage A'vous.
The next day, Roloan kept pestering me to give him more details about the girl I saw, but I did not. My focus was to find a way to communicate with her no matter the cost. If it means breaking some rules, then I will.
"I will let you in on this when I have more information on her, I need to get to the library, tell mother I will be home late" With these last words, I gave Roloan a fake smile and headed towards the library. I was free around him because we grew up together. I am a year older than him and I consider him my brother and a close confidant.
At the Elvin School of magic, other students keep their distance. Whoever came close to me looked afraid or was very careful when interacting with me, but I never cared to know why. Roloan once said I am intimidating and cold, but could I tell if I am?
