Chapter 24 - Dungeon

The door swings open and we step through into the unknown dark depths.

I can feel the excitement bubbling away inside me, yet I can't seem to explain why.

I might be killed in a brutal fashion. I could become trapped and go insane from the darkness. Yet despite all that I'm excited at the thought of entering this hellish place.

Could it be because it's the first step to becoming a hero?

The door slams shut behind us, leaving us in pitch darkness.

We continue walking and crystals embedded in the walls begin to light up, revealing a cave like structure.

We continue walking down the empty corridor until we reached a wooden door at the end of the tunnel.

"Be careful, anything could be beyond that door."

Magiya warned me as I swung the door open, revealing a large forest with lush greenery and tall trees that I've never seen before, stretching for over a mile.

Rain fell from the sky despite us being indoors, and strange creatures roamed around.

"What is this?"

I heard Maria ask more to herself than anyone else.

"This is a jungle. Be careful, a lot of dangerous creatures can roam around here."

Just as he said that hoards of goblins and ogres began swarming us, clearly waiting for the opportunity to strike.

I drew my sword and slashed out, slicing the forest apart in one stroke of my blade.

The trees fly into the air along with the heads and torsos of the monsters around us.

"Well that's one way to solve the issue. Though Greta won't be happy."

I looked back at Magiya.

"Who's Greta?"

"Just some tree fucker."

We walk on for a few minutes, clearing our way through the logs to find a hatch in the floor.

We open it and jump down, free falling into a metal room with a single metal door on the other side. There was strange marks on the floor and roof as if something had been dragged across them.

"Seems easy enough."

I stated before taking a step.

"No, don't move!"

Maria shouted after me, but it was already too late.

The walls began to move in on us at an unprecedented speed.

"Leon, be more careful or you'll get us all killed! Think before you act!"

The walls were still closing in on us. We had maybe thirty seconds before they closed fully.

"Silen, slow the left wall, I'll slow the right!"

Me and Silen each push back against the walls, noticeably slowing it down, but to not stopping it.

"Maria, you get yourself to safety, I'll handle this."

Magiya starts conjuring a spell behind us as Maria runs for the door.

I see a blue glow on the wall I'm pushing against.

The walls are less than three metres apart now, we don't have much time left.

"Magiya, whatever you're doing hurry it up! They can't hold on for much longer!"

Just as Maria called out an eruption of ice occurred throughout the room, freezing the walls completely. So much so that they shattered after a few seconds, creating a beautiful, shimmering mist throughout the room.

A chill seemed to spread throughout my bones as I stood where the now shattered wall used to be.

I looked at Magiya, who's face was completely hidden by his hood.

"What the hell was that?"

"It's simple, I created a spell to lower the temperature of atmospheric water to absolute zero. All I did was manipulate the water molecules to move into the walls and then put this spell into practice."

"Wow, that's incredible! Right, Leon."

Why's she asking me, I barely understood a word of what he said.

"Let's just continue on ahead."

I dodge the question and walk through the door, only to be blasted by a wave of heat.

My skin starts to blister as I take in the scene of a cavern with steaming hot lava slowly melting the cave.

Small mounds with holes in were strewn about as large wormlike creatures jumped in and out.

"Magma Wyrms. One of the weakest species of dragon, If it was just one, they wouldn't be an issue, but I've already counted more than ten. We'll need to get their attention somehow and kill them in one fell swoop."

Magiya's voice sounded out as he stepped through the door.

Getting their attention won't be an issue.

I draw my sword and step further into the room, my feet burning through my shoes.

One of the Wyrms launches themselves at me only to be cleaved down the middle.

The others become enraged seeing their comrade die and begin charging at me in unprecedented numbers.

I begin slicing through them but the more I cut down, the more appear.

Just then a snap occurs and multiple Wyrms erupt in an explosion of blood.

A loud sound echoes out like wood on stone and ice erupts from the ground filleting the rest of the Wyrms.

They seemed really kind of weak, though I suppose they are nothing more than a distraction meant to weaken you for what lies ahead.

We hurry to the other side of the cavern and head through the door finding ourselves in a sewer system.

What's with this place? It's all so random, like a guy picked up a pen and just wrote the first few things that came into his head.

Just further through the sewer was a large circular room, with a single figure stood in the centre.

We enter the circle as the demon opened its's eyes.
