This is my first book. I hope you enjoy it.
Rose's POV
Every day I imagine the same thing. The only difference is how I do it. For the past 20 years of my life, I have never stepped outside the castle. I'm a princess. Not just any princess but a werewolf princess and for some reason, I have never been outside.
Every time I ask I will be told to wait for the right time. Since I was a little girl my scent was masked from everyone except Kaden, Henry, grandma, Mary, and Kate. Kate is Mary's daughter and my best friend, well my only friend.
The only thing that lets me know that my people know about myself is the wonderful birthday cards they send me each year for my birthday. It confuses me sometimes because my people have never met me but I'm still grateful. My parents told me to chant a spell when I was 6 years old to disguise my scent. I was told that I am even more dominant than my father who is the king of wolves.
My chamber is in the east wing of the castle. No one is allowed there except for the eight people I mentioned.
My appearance is different from that of my parents. My father is blonde and has blue eyes, Kaden took after him. My mother is a brunette and has black eyes, Louise took after her. I have black and white hair however the white is more than the black and is getting more and more each day. The name of my wolf is Emily and she loves our mate although she has never met him. She is also annoyed we haven't met him yet.
I woke up early in the morning before my brothers came to fetch me for training practice. I dried my hair and put it in a ponytail. I heard him coming and put on my shoes then went outside. "Beat you today," I said to a shocked Kaden. "What? How?" he asked.
"We were sure you wouldn't get ready and Louise is on the field. "Perks of having magic is that I can set my body like an alarm to wake me up when I want. Now let's go."
My brothers and I play a game every night to keep ourselves busy. We stay up late talking about the issues of the kingdom. Although I am not allowed to go outside, they inform me of most of the issues. Kaden is well built and tall.
As we walked towards the field I asked about my father's health. He just came back injured from an ambush to the Blue Moon Pack from another pack. My father wanted to help the pack but they got injured. I was very worried when I found out and offered to help the best I could.
I wish the guards knew who I was but they all think I'm a maid to keep my identity secret.
It was either this or they couldn't see me at all.
We went to the side of the castle to practice and the weapons were at the side of the field. A huge field that was fit for a king. Louise was surprised to see me out early as well. "Kaden?" He called, "What happened?" He asked.
"She surprised me too brother. She learned a new trick." Kaden answered.
"We will do something about that later but for now save your magic for Henry little sis," Louise replied. "Yes, now let's do this."
"Not until you jog around the field ten times."
"Oh come on I came early today," I whined.
"Okay, five times then."
I agreed and jogged before coming back to my brothers. "Now can we start?"
They nodded and we took our wolf forms and they started circling me. Louise's wolf form is brown, Kaden's grey while mine is white. "So what are we doing exactly?"
"We know you're great at fighting in your human form but what about fighting in your wolf form?" Louise asked.
"Let's get them," Emily said.
They jumped towards us but Emily pushed us forward and I pushed us backward making us stay in the same spot while Kaden landed on me first then Louise on Kaden. I groaned in pain. "Get off of me." I yelped through the pack's link.
They took their sweet time before doing so. "What happened?" Kaden asked. "You didn't even try," Louise said. "Emily and I moved in different directions."
"Okay but next time you have to be able to communicate with each other. You have to let your wolf take control. It's their form after all so you have to trust in their movements. Both of you have to become one. Now let's try again." Louise said.
By the time we were done for the day, I was sour and hurt. "At least you let me guide us and we did throw Kaden so that's something," Emily said.
I walked towards my room and saw Kate there. "Good morning Rose. You don't look too good."
"I don't feel too good."
"Good thing your bath is ready," Kate said.
I took my bath and dressed up before dressing up and going to eat breakfast. I was always alone because my family ate in the dining hall as the royal family.
I went to the library and admired the royal family section which was filled with spells, magic, secrets, and other stuff.
Grandma was already there. "Good morning," I said. "Good morning dear. Are you ready for today's lesson," she asked. "I am," I said excitedly.
"Today you will learn about the kingdom. You already know all the simple spells in the book and the war that was fought but what you don't know is how your great great great great grandfather became king," she said.
I was excited. She gestured with her hand to sit down.
"After the war, the wolves decided that it was wise to choose a leader. They decided that the wolf that had fought most bravely during the war would be king. Two wolves who stepped forward were William and James. Both wolves were of the same age, fit and qualified. The werewolves had to make a very difficult decision. In the end, Williams became King because he saved most of the women and children and kept them safe. He taught most of the warriors how to fight. He brought food for everyone during the war. James didn't take this well and so he vowed to destroy Williams one day and his entire generation. Everyone was scared but after a while, he was forgotten. Some people say he will return one day for the right time to strike while some say he is dead." said grandma.
"Wow, I never knew this family had any enemies," I exclaimed.
"We do dear, It's just that they never come forward," said Grandma.
"And I hope they never will," I replied.
"Now learn some tricks to show Henry later," Grandma said.
"Okay grandma," I replied. I learned about the war and how Williams was brave and kind. "I wish I could be like that," I said. "Yep, if you were we would have been out of here by now," Emily replied.
I went back to my room, finally happy to know why I was a princess. It may not mean much but to me, it did especially when you don't have that many sources of information.
I went to the basement but this wasn't an ordinary basement as it was sound and fireproof so as not to cause harm to anyone.
Henry, the beta came in, "Hey Rose, ready to lose?" "Not today Uncle Henry," I said. "Don't call me that, you make me sound old," he said.
"That's because you are old and that's why I am going to win today."
Henry is half-wolf and half-wizard. His father was mated to a white witch. They had a son Henry who isn't as powerful as me but still powerful as he is not a full wizard.
"Stuckmanda," I said, pointing my finger at him. "Avoidprin," he said and my spell didn't affect him. I frowned, "Maniscosus da lora," I said. Suddenly there were ten of me surrounding him. His eyes opened wide and he looked around and nodded. "Destrica," He said and pointed at five of me. They vanished but after ten seconds ten of me appeared again. His look was priceless.
"I had a hard time learning this spell but after the look on your face, the time was worth it," all fifteen of me said. "Do you accept defeat?" I asked. "Not yet," He replied.
"Revealatus," He said.
He pointed at me, "You have a shadow Rose," he said.
"Are you sure?"
"One hundred percent."
"Look at the real me over there," I pointed to the other side of the room. "Nooo." He groaned.
"Fallecido," I said.
He fell and was put down by plants. "I hate to say this but I accept defeat."
I detangled the ropes around him and came out with the rest of them. The clone disappeared and I smiled at Henry. "Told you I would win."
He smiled, "I will have to learn some new tricks from you. I underestimated you, Rose."
I turned towards mother, "Congratulations," she smiled. "Thank you," I said before she turned around to leave. She turned to leave but I stopped her and asked the one question that she never answers.
"Mother, why can't I go outside?"
