I ran down the hall then stopped. I could smell them even though their scents were faint. My mother and Mary are coming this way.
"What should I do?" I thought. "Relax Rose. Remember, you are Kate now although you might wanna do something about that scent though. It will take mother and Mary just one sniff to know it's you. Emily said"Oh no! I forgot." I exclaimed.
"Good thing you have me then."
"Smellaca recdo." All hints of my scent are gone. I now smelled of Kate. I continued walking "Kate?" I didn't stop. "Kate!" "That's you." Said Emily. "Oh.Yes." I answered. I turned and saw mother and Mary turning and looking at me with concerned and confused looks.
"Are you alright?" Asked mother. "Yes, I'm alright mo.. Your majesty." Oh God I almost blew my cover. "Where are you going with that box?" Mary asked. "I uh..." This is it. Bye bye freedom.
"She is cleaning the rooms for guests to stay in when they arrive." Mother said.
"Yes mum. That was exactly what I was doing." I added quickly.
Mother zoned out for a few seconds. I know she was communicating through the pack's link.
"The guests have arrived." Mother said, looking at Mary. "I want you, Kate and some other servants to attend to them," she ordered. "Yes your majesty, "Mary and I replied.
Mary and I started walking towards the entrance of the castle. "This is it, we are leaving, I wish we would have done this sooner," Emily said. I smiled at what she said. The guards opened the huge doors and let us outside. "Is it me ir does the air feel different?" Emily asked. I laughed a little and then covered it with a cough before Mary questioned me. I was free at last.
Mary had already contacted the other servants and we were all outside. "This is our chance, let's go." Emily said.
"I don't want Mary to see her daughter as a lazy girl. You know Kate works hard. I can't do this to my best friend." I said.
"I do but if we don't leave now there will be a huge problem." Emily said. "No there won't be. We just have to attend to the guests then we can leave. It's really simple. Now shut up, I have to concentrate." I replied.
The guests came out of their carriages and father and mother welcomed them. The Alpha came with his Luna and son. There was something wrong. I could feel it in my bones.
"Something isn't right." Emily said. "Yeah I can feel it too." I replied. I scanned the guests but my eyes fell on a guard from the visiting pack. He looked normal just that there was something not right about him."There is something fishy about him. We must find out what it is." Emily said.
"What about the plan, I may never get this chance again." I whined. "Rose you must not be selfish. Think about father, mother, Kate, your brothers and Mary. What if something were to happen to them and no one knows about this except us." Emily reasoned.
"I hate you," I said. "I love you too." She replied.
"Kate, what are you doing with that box?" Mary asked. "I was just taking it inside mum," I replied. I kept the box close to the door and the guards. I went behind Mary. As the guests and my parents were passing everyone looked down. I did the same. It felt weired. We were asked to show the guests to their rooms. I was to take the son of the alpha. I kept my eyes on the black haired man. "What do we do now?" I asked Emily. "Now we just have to look for a spell to reveal him."
"But to do that we have to go to grandma." I said.
"No we don't we just have to go to the library, get the book, say the spell, reveal him then get out of here," Emily planned.
"Great plan but I can feel the spell wearing off, we must hurry." I walked quickly towards the library. Just as I was about to open the door I heard Mary's voice. "She is missing your majesties. I don't know how or when."
"What?!" My father exclaimed, "We must find her immediately."
"Guards!"
"Assemble all the maids in the castle." She ordered the guards. After the guards left, she asked "How did you know she's gone missing?"
"I went into her room to check if she needed anything. I knocked three times but she didn't answer. I got worried and what I saw next scared me." Mary said. Mother gasped. "No your majesty, it's not Rose but Kate. She was on the floor sleeping and she wouldn't wake up. I think..... what we fear the most has happened. The princess has run away."
"No!" Mother exclaimed. "I better get going," I thought. I slowly entered the library and went back to the section I am already used to.
I found the spell book. I started searching for the spell. "I am almost there." "Revealing spell." I said in my head. "Ahha, I found it," I said. "Kate?"
Oh no.
"What are you doing here?" I closed the book and turned to face the person that got my attention. It was grandma. "Yes?" I answered. "What were you going to do?" she asked. "I uhhh.."
She zoned out. Should I make a run for it or stay? No. On the second hand I better get going. As I was about to leave, grandma called me again but this time she called me by my name.
"Rose?"
I stopped. "Come back here young lady." I went back to her. "Your parents are looking for you everywhere. You shouldn't have tried to run away." "I'm sorry grandma. I couldn't..."
I paused as I heard my mother's voice and turned to see her, father, my brothers, Kaden, Henry and Mary there looking at me with disbelief. "Is that really you?" Mother asked. "Yes," I answered. The spell wore off and I transformed from Kate to Rose right in front of them.
"Why?" Father asked. "Why did you try to run away? We provide everything you want to have, eat and read. Why would you do that?"
"Why would I run away? You're asking me that question when you never let me go out. You say I'm a princess but I never see my kingdom. You tell me I'm special and I have powers for a reason but you never let me use them for the benefit of the kingdom. The only thing that lets me know my people know about me is those wonderful birthday cards I get each year and then nothing." I said in one breath.
"Calm down honey and take deep breaths," she turned towards father and gave him a questioning and concerned look. Father sighed and nodded.
"Rose. Before we tell you, we want you to know everything that we have done is for your safety and we love you.
There is a prophecy that a child would be born with special powers that have never been seen before. The child will be the only one of its kind with the powers the child will have. The child's powers can be used for greatness but at the same time for destruction. The hair of the child will make things easier and also inform the people about the child's state. However the child's mate is no saint, he is the prince of darkness. That child is you Rose."
I gasped, feeling betrayed.
"You are only here until your hair turns completely white and then you can go wherever you want but until then.."
"You mean I still can't go out?" Mother nodded.
"You know, all of you betrayed me especially you mother. All of you knew but you kept me in the dark. I have never hurt anyone but you all think I can be used for destruction. Did the spell book come from the prophecy as well?" I asked mother.
However this time grandma answered, "No dear these books were written by sorcerers long before all of us were born. However it is no one's fault and you will soon realize that we have done this all for you."
My brothers were looking at me with sad expressions and I could feel tears wanting to come out. I didn't want my family to see me crying and pity me. With my eyes filled with tears I ran out of the library and started crying. I cried my heart out. I covered my face with my palms and ran towards moon goddess knows where. I bumped into a hard chest and lost balance.
I braced myself to fall but two strong hands held my waist and held me up.
The men that had ever touched me were Father, Louise, Kaden and Henry. I felt uncomfortable when he touched me. I opened my eyes because I closed them when I braced myself to fall. I quickly stood up straight. "Thank you." I said without looking at him. "Anytime mi lady." He replied. I looked at him then realized who he was.
"You!"
