"Mom, we have enough time. We just want to hear everything. Please tell us who our real father is," said Valdo convincingly.
"Your father, we did meet at a bar. We got acquainted and in short we became closer. I'm lucky that my father, your grandfather, was not someone who was too crazy about social status. They gave me permission to marry father after one year of our relationship. We rarely see each other because your father is a sailor. He was a barge captain who came home every two weeks to see mother. Finally, one night, he told me he wanted to go fishing in the lake which was just around the corner. I went there hoping to surprise him, but it was I who was shocked when I saw him… killing a stray dog. I screamed loudly and the last thing I remember is I fell. Mom woke up already in our house and that's where your dad said everything. He is a werewolf even though he is exiled because in his heart he doesn't want to be part of the pack and prey on humans. He always preys on wild animals and always takes care of your mother too. Mom loves him, mom can't just give up. I told him that I would accept whatever the condition was. Until one day I heard that your father sank with his ship after saving the lives of many of his crew," said Martha, telling everything.
"So it's true that we do have wolf blood?" Waldo still couldn't believe it.
"That's right, and what does that have to do with it? Are you…" Mrs. Martha's words suddenly stopped.
"Hm, actually we have turned into werewolves too, mom," said Valdo casually.
"I don't know what to say. I only know that sooner or later you will definitely return to your true selves. Your dad has already told mom everything. Somehow or whenever, you will eventually become werewolves," said the mother.
"You hear yourself now right? Even mom isn't surprised by our change? Why must you be so sensitive?" asked Vano casually directed at his younger brother.
Valdo, who still had a hard time accepting reality, chose to hit the table with his fist and went to his room to shut himself up. He was indeed disappointed in his mother because only now she told him everything even if he thought about it whenever he found out, it would not change anything at all. He don't know what made him still feel that he didn't accept all the facts. Was it because he was too afraid to look terrible? Is he afraid that he won't be able to mingle with his friends like he used to?
Valdo remembered the last conversation the three of them had at that time in his school yard. After everything that's happened and gone through, he now feels he has a reason to stay. So far, it has been difficult for Valdo to accept the fact that he is no longer the person he used to be. He remembered Lexa, a girl he had only met for a few days and had easily changed his day. Somehow he has something or someone to fight for now. He would soon graduate from this school and join his older brother in the Gold Lycaon Company.
The school bell rang and the first thing he did was return to the Gold Lycaon Company and immediately headed to the 13th floor. The floor where Lexa worked and because she was also the owner of this place, no one would stop him, except…. Valdo could see Lexa washing several cups in his study. The man could only smile and slightly surprised Lexa.
"Jesus, Valdo! Are you coming again?" Lexa quickly cleaned herself up and tidied up her appearance.
"Why is that? You always look beautiful no matter how messy you are," Valdo said teasingly.
"Ha ha ha. What are you saying? You are my boss and of course I have to look neat in front of you," Lexa said uncomfortably.
"Please don't say things like that. Yes, I am indeed your boss, but it will be more fun if you think of me as a friend." Smiled Valdo friendly.
"It's about the other employee. I'm afraid they will think negatively about me," said Lexa, still very aware of her position in the company.
"That's enough! I don't want you to say things like that again. We are friends!" said Valdo half forcefully.
"Hmm okay, we're friends." Smiled Lexa which immediately made him feel happy.
It really felt very strange for Lexa because someone was watching her and observing every detail of her work. Even when she was given the task of delivering a document to the finance department on the eighth floor, Valdo insisted on coming with the excuse of making sure Lexa didn't get lost. Lexa was as she said, afraid that the employees would see her in the wrong way. She's just a lowly employee and going anywhere with Valdo would make her awkward. It was Valdo who finally spoke up without being asked that Lexa would be helping him a lot here in preparation for working here in a few months.
His statement surprised everyone. He said it softly but confidently. Lexa feels more relieved because luckily Valdo is the exact opposite of Vano. They both have a cold side, but here Valdo can be nice to everyone. Lexa could see how he was trying to help everyone he met. Valdo even helped an employee pick up scattered documents because he was so nervous looking at them. Another time he helped someone who slipped because the water had pooled in front of the toilet. He even greeted a security guard and had a long talk with him.
"You turned out to be very friendly huh?" Lexa praised while looking at the handsome man beside her.
"Do I look mean?" teased Valdo of course.
"Ha ha ha. It's not like that, it's just that you are very different from your brother. He's… annoying." Lexa half whispered.
"Ha ha ha. I will report about you to him!" teased Valdo laughing.
"Uh, don't be like that. You said we were friends." Lexa's voice immediately weakened.
"Ha ha ha. Stay cool. I won't tell him. Maybe I'm on your side on this one. I actually don't really like him either," Valdo said casually when they were already in Lexa's study.
"Isn't he your real brother? How do you not like him?" asked Lexa easily.
"Yeah I know that sounds pretty weird, but there's a reason that made me do it. All my bad attitudes were only directed at him, but not at the others, especially my mother." Valdo smiled again.
"Your mother? I'm sure you have a wonderful mother. You are an extraordinary son." Lexa praised sincerely.
"Don't keep praising me." Valdo smiled handsomely.
