It's undeniable, being an Alpha from Gold Lycaon is torturing Vano. Who also wants to live with conditions like this.? It's always hard to control himself especially seeing humans everywhere. Live with a grudge and desire to get it out as soon as possible. Angry at himself all the time. In the end, Vano is not like his former self, now much colder and untouchable. He is self-aware, he built the wall to keep him from hurting the outside world.
"There's always another way! You've passed the days by eating animals! Why not go back to your roots?" said Valdo no less curtly.
Valdo's statement certainly slapped him. If possible, he wants to go back to eating animals like before. It's just that what has become his habit, is too difficult to get rid of. What's more, the role and conditions as Alpha, which of course must show courage as well as the ability to protect the entire pack. If he looked weak, how would the other Alphas appreciate him? Plus the enemies are getting closer. Arie, a name that continues to haunt him to this day.
"You know I can't do it! There is a danger that is threatening us and at least by acting like this, we can keep the right distance from our enemy," said Vano firmly.
"Our enemy? More precisely your enemy right? I never agreed to that revenge plan! I don't even know who he is," Valdo said reluctantly.
"I've been working with the twins out there for a while to find out about William Arie. You know he's most likely the mastermind behind our father's death like what he did to Leon!" Vano said, still trying to convince.
"Everything is still conjecture right? After all, if it's true that he wants to beat you, why is he still silent until now?" Valdo wanted to know.
"Precisely because he is silent, I have absolutely no idea what he is planning. I'm afraid we're caught off guard and he suddenly obliterates us all," said Vano again.
"Whatever it is, do as you please! Don't involve me in your personal fights!" Valdo said curtly.
Valdo left Vano's room annoyed. The conversation between the two brothers did not end happily and peacefully from the first. Vano could only stare at his brother's departure with a blank stare. He also hated himself for not being nicer to Valdo.
Their father's death forced him to become the head of the family at a fairly early age. Not to mention his role as the head of the company as well as the leader of the werewolves. Vano was actually just having a hard time and he hoped that Valdo should be able to lighten his load a little.
He didn't know how long he was silent before there was a knock on the door. Lexa came with a tray in her hand containing lunch for the boss. The cold man didn't notice her presence until the girl approached and slowly pushed the food right in front of him.
"You..." Vano stammered.
"Yes, Sir. It's me. I came to deliver lunch," she said softly.
"I wonder why Valdo can like a woman like you," Vano said softly, but it was still audible.
"What's wrong, Sir?" asked Lexa to make sure.
"What is so special about you that you can make Valdo like you?" asked Vano this time loudly.
"Ah, I don't know, Sir. I think Mr. Valdo is just happy to be friends with me and nothing more," said Lexa.
"At first I thought so too, but if you see how his attitude is so different when he's with you and with me, I'm sure you'll understand," said Vano again.
"Ah, really? It feels too early to say he likes me," said Lexa, who was getting ready to leave.
For some reason, Vano still has doubts about everything. He wanted to know if it was true that Valdo really liked this girl and if it was true that this girl was as innocent and kind as she seemed. He was also confused about what he felt when he saw the two together. He could see Lexa moving away and had almost reached the handle of the large door of his room.
"Because you are my employee, I want you to keep your distance from Valdo from now on! You can never be together!" Vano's firm voice.
Of course that command succeeded in making Lexa turn and pay attention. She wanted to ask, but it seemed like Lexa already knew the answer.
"I will try, Sir," Lexa said and turned away.
Lexa walked unsteadily back to her office. There wasn't even anything between her and Valdo yet, but it felt like everyone was getting in his way. Lexa also knows herself, it's impossible for her to try to get close to Valdo because the man is far above her level.
In the evening, after all the employees had gone home, Lexa decided to enter Vano's room. It was almost eight o'clock in the evening and the man had not come home yet. Lexa might not get the bus if she comes home too late. She entered cautiously after knocking but got no answer. Who would have thought that Lexa would find the man sleeping with his hands under his head. Between sure and not, but if she had to wait for the man to wake up, she might not be able to go home at all.
"Hm, Sir..." Lexa called softly.
There was no response from the man.
"Sir, it's already very late," Lexa called again.
This time, Lexa could see the man squirm. He slowly got up and checked his watch.
"Ah, I fell asleep. It's very late. You go home first," Vano said in a hoarse voice.
Lexa nodded and immediately went home because she was so afraid of missing the bus. Sure enough, he had to sit at the bus stop for a few minutes. Lexa tries to call Bocca hoping that the man can come to pick her up, but the man doesn't answer his calls. Lexa didn't have many friends and she saw Valdo's number on it, but of course she quickly dismissed the thought. Until the sound of a horn interrupted his thoughts.
"Mr. Vano?" Lexa said softly after the man rolled down his car window.
"Get in my car!" the man ordered without even turning to look at him.
"Sorry Mister?" Lexa asked unsure.
"I said, get in the car!" He said loudly this time and Lexa quickly acted.
Lexa closed the door, "is your ear have a problem?"
"Tsk, I'm just making sure I didn't hear wrong," Lexa said casually.
"I'm your boss! Be polite or I will drop you off here!" threaten Vano again.
"Hmh, you always scare me when you talk. This time we're out of the office and it shouldn't be a problem if we speak a little informally. It's just that I think you really like to be respected. Okay! I'll speak politely instead of having to walk home to my apartment!" Lexa said casually.
