Chapter 16 - I Like You

"Don't keep praising me." Valdo smiled handsomely.

"Why?" Lexa asked innocently.

"I might like you even more," Valdo said this time with a sharp gaze.

There was silence for a few moments. Lexa's cheeks and ears were already blushing just trying to digest the sentence Valdo had just said to her. This man likes her? Ah, it must be just an ordinary feeling of love, right? As a friend? There's no way he likes her as more than just a friend, right?

"Ha ha ha. Your ears are turning red. Are you okay?" asked Valdo deliberately teasingly.

"Ah, sorry. This is totally out of my control. I was too confused," said Lexa, trying to wipe her own ear hoping the color would fade soon.

Valdo stood up and was ready to leave Lexa's room before he said, "You don't need to be confused because I said it seriously. I like you not like a friend, but like a man likes a woman."

The man walked away from her. Even though for now Lexa still considers him as a friend and especially a boss, however, having someone say he likes you will certainly have a different effect. She was too fixated on the door where Valdo just left her after saying those fantastic words. She didn't even notice when Jasper and Nola were already standing in front of her and had even tried to wake her up from her sky-high reverie.

"Lexa, are you okay?" asked Nola.

"Ah yes yes, what's wrong? Why?" asked Lexa reflexively when Jasper tapped her shoulder quite hard.

"Gosh you! Why are you daydreaming?" asked Nola curiously.

"I know what makes her daydream! Better get out of there soon. It is not good!" Jasper said clearly.

"What? What is he really thinking?" Nola wants to know.

"Master Valdo just said he likes you right? Please wake up! You will never suit each other. You are different in many ways. Social status, education, family, and… more!" Of course the man spoke curtly.

"Mr. Valdo likes her?" Nola's eyes almost popped out of their places.

"Those likes are absolutely not going to tear down any walls. Instead it should make you build a bigger wall!" Jasper said again loudly.

Lexa never hurt anyone's words. Her condition of being alone and coming from a poor family will always stick with her since she was little. She had received too much insults and ridicule because of it and he thought it had made her strong. It turned out that her estimate was wrong because after all this time, the man who was standing not far from in front of her shattered her in an instant.

"Why are you talking rudely to her like that? I don't know if Mr. Valdo really likes her like you say, but that's none of your business! Look, you made her sad!" Nola, who now notices a change in Lexa's facial expression.

"That would be better than her getting hurt in the future," Jasper said before finally leaving the room. Nola called his name several times, but the man completely ignored her. She finally got closer to Lexa and talked to her.

"I'm sorry for Jasper. He's just stupid sometimes! He doesn't know how to speak gently to everyone," said Nola trying to calm her down.

Lexa tried to smile, "it's okay. Jasper was right, I should be the one who came to my senses."

"So, what was Jasper saying…" Nola guessed.

"Ah, that's nothing. Mr. Valdo did say that, but I guess it means too much for that, right? He just said he liked the way I work here," said Lexa, not wanting to prolong the problem.

"I see… but why did Jasper's response have to come out like that? He's too much! I will definitely scold him later!" Nola wants to comfort Lexa of course.

"That's okay. I don't want you to argue over trivial matters like this. Thank you," Lexa smiled casually.

Nola chose to return to her work after hugging Lexa warmly. Luckily, Nola does have a good attitude. He seemed genuinely able to accept her as a 'human'. He is used to living without friends and it feels like being appreciated is enough for her. Jasper was right, she shouldn't be easily swayed by the words of a man like Valdo. That man could obviously get any woman who was even 100 times better than her in every way. How could he like a girl like her. Even if they like each other, the chances of being together might even be minus.

Little did Lexa know, not only Nola and Jasper accidentally saw their closeness, but also someone who was currently in front of his laptop monitoring the CCTV cameras there. I don't know what the name of the feeling he is feeling now, Vano just doesn't like what he sees. Since the first time he saw Lexa, he had felt this strange thing that he normally didn't feel towards other potential prey.

Not having found an answer yet, his younger brother Valdo had already expressed his feelings for Lexa. Valdo, who wanted to know what he really felt, chose to let Valdo approach Lexa. To be honest, after a long time, Vano could see his younger sibling smiling again and that made him very relieved, even though he felt uncomfortable because Lexa had succeeded in making Valdo.

Vano actually feels guilty all this time because he accidentally turned Valdo into a werewolf like him. He was just too proud to admit let alone apologize. As he said, he wanted his younger brother to be a stronger and tougher person to accept his destiny now. As an older brother, he also never expected the relationship between them to be tenuous. It's just that it seems that because Valdo feels more comfortable living it like this, Vano gives him a chance. What he didn't realize was actually worsening their relationship.

Without him realizing it, the door opened and Valdo's figure was already there. They are siblings, but it feels like they stand so far apart.

"You came to meet Lexa again? I thought liking him was your way of interrupting my eating cycle. You were always the one most against me eating humans right?" Vano opened the conversation.

"I always don't like it when you eat humans. Lexa is not at all a criminal like you are used to!" Valdo reminded.

"You know that the number of criminals has decreased drastically, especially since humans have learned that there is someone they should be afraid of when they commit crimes. I'm just trying to survive!" Valdo of course defended himself.

"There's always another way! You've passed the days by eating animals! Why not go back to your roots?" said Vano no less curtly.
