LILY
I blink a few times to dispel the discomfort that makes my eyes feel heavy and watery.
Closing my laptop, I slowly stand from my working spot and head for the window on my left.
The soft light from the cloudy sky is a much welcome change for my eyes as they roam the green scenery beneath me.
A soft knock on my bedroom door quickly snaps me out of my disoriented daze and I hastily make my way to open it.
"Hey?" River greets softly and the sight of him alone almost brings me to my knees.
I've been away from him for three days and it feels like a lifetime.
"Hey." I smile back. "I thought you were getting back tomorrow. "
"I have this very serious thing I have to do today so I came back early."
My face falls a little but I do my best not to show it as we both walk to sit on the bed.
"Another security meeting?" A lot of those have been coming up lately.
