Chapter 33 - Summoned

"I have to say, your circle drawing skills have gotten worse, is your age catching up to you?" immediately asked Theli as soon as he laid his eyes on the intricate magic circles that covered the enormous room.

"I see that you are following the summoning spell perfectly, are you not old enough to be able to adapt it? It was made so long ago, I can point out several issues that don't even come from your shaky hands" he added afterwards, Nilrem would have said something to defend the great magus but seeing that he wasn't willing to engage in a conversation with the man, he kept silent.

"That certainly will summon a lot, you could actually get one good unwanted presence, too bad they are seen as pest by the system though, unlike some of the otherworlders who appear at random" he continued to speak aloud, not even looking at the two other people in the room.

"Are you done?" asked the magus, Theli stepped back from the circle, raising his hands in the air, wearing the same smile as usual, this guy sent chills running through Nilrem's spine.

The young mage had no idea who this man was, the great magus seemed to know him and he didn't appear to enjoy his presence at all but still didn't speak up against him in any way.

'Is the great magus afraid of this guy?' he thought as he looked at the man named Ithelisemou, who was also looking at him, raising his eyebrows, clearly signaling that he knew exactly was he was thinking.

The young mage had actually made sure to guard himself from having his mind read this time but it had been meaningless.

"Come on, activate that circle of yours!" he said, clapping his hands, he apparently didn't intend on correcting the mistakes he had noticed.

"At least be correct with them will you? Wait until they leave before hand" spoke the magus with a dejected sigh before activating the magic circles formation.

Each of the circles lit up in a different color, flooding the room with a kaleidoscope of colors, blinding the young mage, the two other men being undisturbed by the bright lights.

The colors started to merge with one another, slowly forming into a singular color, as the process advanced, the colors turned to white and dimmed, letting the young mage open his eyes again, the light slowly died out, sometime brightening up a bit before continuing to dim as if trying to hold onto dear life.

A useless attempt as the light soon completely disappeared, leaving only floating particules in the air, each particules twirled in the air indepedently, as if free from the shackles of air currents, some flying up, some flying down and other staying at the same height they had started.

Some crashed against the walls, fell on the floor or hit the ceiling in an attempt to constantly ascend, these particules vanished as they struck against the hard surfaces, soon, many were gone but a high amount still remained, those who had chosen to stay where they had started, they knew their place and didn't try to chose where to go on their own.

After a while, one of the particules moved the center of the room and softly floated down but instead of encountering the same fate as the previous ones and vanishing upon touching the ground, it instead expanded into a ball of light, leaving only a naked man on the ground.

The man started standing up, looking dazed as if he had slept for a whole day, his eyes were groggy and he defintely didn't appear to know where he was.

He then laid his head back on the cold and hard ground, falling back asleep.

Quickly after the blonde man appeared, the many other particules followed suit, each revealing a human inside, human in appearance but different from the ones that populated this world.

Soon, about a hundred of them were sprawled on the ground, laying down butt naked in ridiculous positions.

"I must say, I was expecting something more... heroic" spoke Nilrem, he had still been hoping that the story about summoned heroes he had heard in the past weren't completely romanticised.

Looking down at the otherworlders, it was clear that it was beyond romanticised, it was straight up fabrication.

The people who wrote those stories were spreading misinformation!

Also, he didn't know what but something deeply bothered him about this people, they looked exactly like humans, like him but he simply couldn't relate to them in any ways as if he was looking at a dragon or random slime.

"You noticed it huh?" he heard the voice of Theli speaking in his ear, jumping away in a fright, he couldn't believe he had managed to sneak up on him so casually.

"I had never encountered summoned people like those personally, I have to say that I also noticed something off" spoke the magus, stepping in front of Nilrem as if shielding him from danger.

"It's simple really, you must have heard about it if you took an interest in summoning of this kind, it is widely known that despite the fact that they are all very different from one another, be it in body shape, facial features, personality, the unwanteds always seem to be one and the same"

"They exude an air of something painfully common despite the fact that they are actually unique compared to any other human species, they have their own distinctions, be it outwardly or inside" spoke Theli, hearing this, Nilrem turned back to the sleeping humans and indeed, he could put his finger on what was disturbing him, he couldn't help but think of them as ordinary humans.

"A strange phenomenon right? Don't worry, you'll get over it eventually and be able to see them for what they are" he added afterward, starting to circle around the unwanted presences, like a shark that had caught a whiff of fresh blood.

"You see, they are sleeping because they are adapting to the different air of this place, they do tend to come from manaless worlds it would seem" he said, rubbing his chin as he took a perverted peek.

"I thought I had told you to be correct" spat the magus.

"I didn't agree to this words and I am simply checking their health status with my eyes, you would be much more upset had I started probing them, n'est-ce pas?" he said, making the magus rolled his eyes, he was just proposing something even more ludicrous to keep ogling them.

"Alright, I have seen enough, I am satisfied" he suddenly said as he opened the door to the room with a kick.

"By the way, I'll be sure to notify my king about this because I am just such a good and honest man, I would never do a thing as horrible as keep such information away from my ruler" he said with a smile even more sleazy than before.

He then walked away, the sound of his exaggerated footsteps quickly vanishing altogether.

"Great magus, who was that man?" asked Nilrem.

"A sick freak, so it goes without saying that he is a much better mage than me, I would recommend you don't go asking around about him, people don't like being reminded about him, at least here" spoke the magus.

"Anyways, let's bring these guys to some rooms, we'll put sleep spells on them so that they wake up one by one" he said as he conjured up mana hands that gently took hold of the sleeping humans and carried them away.

'A much better mage than the great magus? Because he is a sick freak?' wondered Nilrem, the magus had said to not investigate this man but with such words, he couldn't help but be curious.
